This place is awesome!!! Secret hidden gem and it’s been around for 60 years. I was in town for a wedding and found them on Unilocal.I ordered online. When I arrived to pick up my cheesesteaks the patrons and staff made me feel like I was part of there family and a local. The place is legit and the steaks were even better. So glad I found this place. 5 stars all the way

This is a great local spot. Consistent breakfast, great cheese steaks and my favorite thing to get when I’m in town is a buffalo chicken finger wrap.

Okay so this place hits hometown classic on the nose. It’s got total retro style and the food matches. Everything on their menu is good. I’m partial to their breakfast. Cheesesteak omelette is the best around. They need to serve breakfast longer, maybe till 1 or 2. Is it that hard? On that note what happened to the cheesesteak egg rolls ?? The pizza is always delicious and hands down best milkshakes in Broomall. Always fast and friendly, I love the photos on the walls !

I’ve been coming here since I was young. I love their steaks and my kids ask for their pizza every week. It’s the kind of place where they know your name. Also, try the Buffalo Chicken Salad with blu cheese.

I needed some quick food on the way to the airport and Thunderbird Steakhouse met my needs exactly! I ordered through EAT24, went to pick up my order which was ready right on time. The worker at the counter was very friendly and excited to see that I ordered online and found them. I got the cheesesteak, bacon cheese fries and a small pizza — not my greatest moment for eating healthy — but it was delicious. I wish I had a bigger stomach to eat more of the food — but you know what, pizza tastes great for breakfast too…

Wanted to like them after reading the reviews. Placed an order an hour ago. Called to see when it would be delivered and they hadn’t even started it. My kids are starving. Update on 11⁄14: Not true and I spoke with your staff, who spoke to someone in the back, the cook I guess, who confirmed they did not start the order. She was very apologetic and said she would comp the order, but it would still take another 45 minutes. I then called the online order organization who said they had spoken to you 15 minutes after I first placed the order and they apologized and comped me $ 10 off my next order, and $ 5 should I decide to order with you. I placed at 6:24 that evening.

Holy Moly best Philly Cheesesteak sandwich EVER! Steve, Joe & Louie are so awesome and take pride in their restaurant and their food. If you are in the area DEFINITELY stop by. Came back a again and had the most ridiculously amazing salad and pizza! These guys are awesome and so welcoming to all of their customers. If I could leave 10 stars I definitely would! Just amazing!

This place was great. Quick and friendly service. Deliciously crunchy fries. Cheese teak was juicy and fully loaded! Meatball calzone was very tasty and full of flavor and sliced meatballs. The constant offer to refill drinks was an added bonus! Great place, thanks Unilocal for helping us find it on our 2 day trip! Ate so quickly… regret not taking pictures!

Upside down pizza, I’m not sure I can say more. Actually I can say a lot. We frequent here a lot, and for good reason. The food is great, the service is wonderful. We love the wings, which are hands down the best in the area. As are the cheesesteaks. My husband loves the upside down pizza, it’s something you have to try! The attention to quality and ingredients is one of the many reasons that has us keep returning. But our favorite above all is pasta night! Every Thursday, pasta night is on for dinner. You won’t be disappointed. The staff is always friendly and attentive to your needs, and while it can get busy and there can be a wait, it is well worth it.

I should have come here earlier after passing it so many times. I love small eating places with counters to sit at. It’s a thing with me. But most importantly, the pizza steak was phenomenal. The flavor of the sauce stood out, and blended nicely with the freshly chopped steak. Only drawback was that the roll did not hold the ingredients effectively. It’s a little soft. But the flavor and ambiance was 4 star worthy. No question in my mind.

Thunderbird is best known for being that«take out-spot» in Delco from generation to generation. It’s about tradition with this place. It won’t be the best food you’ve ever had(if you’re from out of town) but people around here swear by it. I’ve ordered tons of stuff off the menu through the years — most of it above average and satisfactory. Highlights of mine are the buffalo chicken fingers and thunder fries. I don’t know what hot sauce they use on the chicken fingers(thus making them«buffalo”-style), it’s probably something simple like Frank’s and I don’t know better, but every bite is amazing. This is usually my go-to order. The Thunder Fries are drenched in this awesome, spicy seasoning(it’s NOT old bay, though, so don’t assume that). Cheesesteak pizza is another favorite of mine. My parents also love the mushroom chicken cheese steak. They’re creatures of habit so they’ve essentially split a large one of those the last thirty years. I’m not a big fan of the cheesesteak with whiz. I’ve ordered it a few times now and I just can’t get over the 4: 1, whiz to steak ratio, that it’s served as. Globs of whiz with not enough steak to balance out the sandwich. My stomach is always destroyed after half of a small. If I’m in the mood for a cheesesteak and we’re ordering from Thunderbird in the future, I’ll probably try my chances w/provolone and see how that syncs up.

Got an email from the owners about my review so my wife and I stopped by for lunch today to chat with him. He explained they are struggling with growth a bit, and staffing has been challenging. They are adding an extra delivery guy for Friday/Saturday and making sure that the orders are being taken correctly, and being checked for the correct stuff before it goes out. I am glad they are so aware of their customer opinions and needs. That’s all you can ask for in a service/food business. So, I look forward to continuing to get good food from them on Saturday movie night, and getting the correct order on time. Awesome. Oh — and lunch was terrific also. Their cheesesteaks are really, really good.

The REALDEAL! So much better than the touristy places — starting with awesome beef that is sliced perfectly but not pulverized like so many others. Just right amount of cheese, sautéed onions, tender toasted roll — this Alabama man just found out what a true cheese steak should be – and I’ll be back next time I’m in the Philly area! Thanks Thunderbirds for a delicious & memorable experience!

Although the owner did try to reach out to me and offer me free food to try him again, unfortunately. I did try them again and it was much of the same. many other better choices in the area. Good luck

Oh what a great place. Have been going here for a long time. Moved to other side of county but if I will be in area I have to stop in for fries cheese steak and milk shake. Wife liles the mozzarella sticks. Pizza is great also. A small place but oh it worth stop. This is one of those local secrets. South Philly atmospere and taste. You can watch your food being made and cooked.

4-star cheesesteaks. We have been disappointed with local cheesesteaks lately, and were happy to have tried Thunderbird’s recently for a good 4-star cheesesteak! Here are common mistakes with Philly cheesesteaks that Thunderbird did NOT make: — Shredding the meat to oblivion so it looks like someone already chewed it and spit it back out, instead of pieces that actually look like the«steak» part of the word cheesesteak — Putting the meat in a water bath which makes it taste more like a roast beef flavor(for a French Dip sandwich) than cheesesteak meat — Getting the rolls soggy with the abovementioned«wet» nasty beef — Overdoing the cheese to mask the flavor of gross meat — Or, oversalting the meat to mask the gross flavor — Underdoing the cheese, so you can’t tell if it’s a steak sandwich or an actual cheesesteak — Making the steak and cheese fine but putting it on a crappy roll(like Wawa’s rolls) — Or, a sandwich that drips grease — need I say more? None of these mistakes were made by Thunderbird. The meat was more«defined» cuts, the cheese(American, as I prefer, NOT Wiz) was well proportioned, the roll was good/fresh, and it was not too salty or too bland. If your cheesesteak palate is sensitive to the list I gave above, then I think you will appreciate a Thunderbird cheesesteak.

My FAVORITE pizza joint. I’ve introduced a few people to this small and affordable pizza/cheesesteak place and all have loved it! Pizza is great, service is great, good spot to try out a philly cheesesteak(which is better than the acutal city), and whatever you do, DONOT forget to get onion rings. They are by far the best onion rings I’ve ever had! It is not a flashy place, but do not let that deter you.

Inexpensive. Good food. Great for breakfast. Almost hate to review it cause the cat will be out of the bag. Comfortable seating. They don’t jam you in here. Its simple and clean. No frills. Local pics from back in the day hang on the walls. They remember you after a couple of visits. Great for all age groups. Family owned and it shows in the service, staff and food prep. OH and you don’t have to ask for napkins here. A personal pet peeve of mine. Love it!
