This place was amazing! We were in town for a soccer tournament and wanted some local Italian food. The caprese salad(special) with lump crab and avocado was Franky the best I’ve ever had. Great wine list and excellent staff. We might have been a tad underdressed but the staff didn’t seem to mind. If you get to this area do not miss the opportunity to try this spot.

My friend and I had never eaten here before, so we decided to try them out. The restaurant itself is really nice and clean plus the staff are really friendly, but we both ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, but sucks the sauce tasted black pepper and nothing else.

Food at restaurant is ok but NEVER have a catered meal from them. Hosted an event for 35 a while back and for almost $ 1,100 it was worse than cafeteria quality food. Very bland, tasteless and I swear that the chicken breast were pre-packaged frozen drowned in a subpar white sauce– cheap, bland spaghetti and a HUGE bowl of salad that came from bags from grocery store(no joking) this was not only bad quality, we were more than embarrased to serve this to our guest. Not one person out of 30 something people said anything about the food-not one compliment– oh and to add insult to the equation, we were dumb enough to ask for a desert tray at $ 45… we literally got a 10″ plastic pan of lemon bars and brownie bites that we could have gotten at HEB for less than $ 8 bucks… we used to eat at the restaurant about once a month but not again! I feel that they still owe me about a $ 650 credit for the horible catering job that couldn’t have cost them more than $ 150 from Ben e keith which is a restaurantv food service company they buy this crap from. THEYNEEDTOSTICKWITHTHEINHOUSEFOODANDDRINKBIZ and quit the catering gigs.

Really love the food here. And the service is just great. They treat single people just as good as a table of 10. I have been to many nice restaurants that don’t want to serve a single person. But, at this place, and sister restaurant Shipwreck, they are wonderful to me!

We went for a birthday in a group of 6. The hostess was nice and sat us quickly. The waitress gave us plenty of time to select our foods but also was very attentive. She struck the middle between too much and not enough. We had a white wine from California. They had a nice list including two from South Africa(a personal favorite). Based on the waiter’s advice, we opted out of one of the amazing appetizers because she said the entrée would be far enough. Our order was 4 Shrimp Diablos, a «1863 Chicken» and a «Veal Oscar». The shrimp was amazing but came with tails so be careful. The chicken was also a hit with a strong sauce. However, the veal stole the night. The meat was melt-in-the mouth and the crab sauce on top was amazing. I’m not usually a fan of asparagus but the slight char to it was delightful.

Friend of the boat? Pal of the Ship? Chum of the Watercraft? All of the above? The name comes from the joint across the street, Shipwreck. Amico is the nice one. And it is nice. The owners and staff are friendly and welcoming, and treat you like family. The layout is kind of warm and inviting and weird retro 70s at the same time. There is a cool bar and it’s a quiet retreat to have a drink with a date. And they do make cocktails, and make them well. The food is simple, basic and hearty. Lots of fried appetizers, presumably a nod to the modal BCS diner. Salads are good and that sausage and white bean stew is a winner… seriously you want this. Mains are tasty and the portions are massive. I like the Chicken 1836 and the Veal Crappetini. Italian? No. Family recipes, but so what? They are GOOD, and you should try them. Pizzas are thin, crispy, oddly shaped, and honestly among the best in town. And the chef will custom make one for you. If you try one dessert it should be the panna cotta. Just get it. Wine list is very simple and underwhelming. It’s fine, but really does not measure up to the quality of the food. A fine restaurant in an area largely devoid of good dining options. This is the best in fact in this area.

Let me start by saying I’ve been working in restaurants since I was seventeen, the last forty plus years as a manager. It’s easy to tell when a restaurant is being operated by professionals passionate about their work. This is such a place. From the enthusiastic server, to the host who warmly thanked us as we left, to the owner/manager who stopped by to talk, to the excellent meal, a class act. I will be back.

The atmosphere is great. I am not terribly impressed with the vegetarian options. The bread rolls they served were great! Honestly, I expected more for the price.

I have been here twice so far and will definitely go again! Great service– sat in the bad area both times and it’s a fun atmosphere. The food has been super delicious! The first time I had the veal with crab meat on it– very yummy! Tonight my husband and I split the spinach salad which was very good and then we shared the shrimp Diablo pasta– I usually don’t gravitate towards pasta with a cream sauce but this one was just too good to pass up! Shrimp, Bacon, peas, jalapeño, etc– we ordered it with half the jalapeño and would recommend that if you aren’t a fan of spicy food! Make sure you get the BCS rewards– it’s free and you get $ 10 credit after you spend $ 150 across several local places. It’s worth it for sure! I took two of my friends tonight to Amico and they were super impressed by everything. Our waitress was the nicest and the food was superb! Plus they split our dishes all in the back and the portions seemed super generous! Because we split, we spent around $ 30 for two of us which is super good considering the quality of food you receive.

Just ate here driving through town. A perfect time to go after the major lunch crowd but still can get lunch menu prices until 1600. They bring garlic knots before the meal, they were too dense. We ordered the soup & salad, sausage pizza, and the shrimp/bacon/jalapeño/pasta. The soup was with sausage and was nicely seasoned, although a little salty. The pizza was more of a flatbread with a lots of sausage, whoa, but again pretty tasty. The star of the meal was the pasta, it was very flavorful and not too spicy. The jalapeño made an interesting yet wonderful addition to the dish, all the ingredients complimented one another. It was a little heavy sauced and probably would have been a better dinner dish. We took the flourless chocolate cake to go, it is more chocolate mousse than cake but that is to my liking. Give this place a try if Italian fare is your what your craving.

Great gluten free pasta! It was delicious! Also, the flourless(gluten free) chocolate cake was amazing! The staff is very knowledgeable and considerate about making sure items do not contain gluten. The resturant is very pretty on the inside. Perfect for special occasions and nice date nights.

We are from Houston and decided to stop after the Florida-A&M game. Our food was good but our service was excellent! Mary was our waitress and she was fantastic! I would rate the food 4 but service a 5 because of Mary :)

This place was wonderful. Came here on date night. It was wonderful food, the server was attentive but definitely let us take our time and had wonderful recommendations without being overbearing. The food was made from scratch and delicious. It was worth all the calories! Great wine list. I ordered the gluten free pasta shrimp Diablo, it was so creamy and flavourful and the best GF pasta I’ve had anywhere to date!

Had the best food, and waiters both times I’ve been here. The wait staff is courteous and helpful. I will say — I had the Pan fried veal, and it was not good, but the manager came over and took the meal and took it off our ticket, which was very nice. Had the shrimp Diablo dish, and that was absolutely delicious. Also the Cesar salad was amazing!

I’ve come here a few more times and I must say I love this place! The food is always so good and the ambience is nice and the service is wonderful. I came here last night and had the Caprese Salad Speciali(Caprese salad with avocado and crab) and the tomato bisque and it was very delicious and satisfying. They have a good collection of wines as well. Can’t wait to come back!

One of the better Italian places in BCS — which doesn’t necessarily mean it is great. I would say this place is mediocre, nothing too special. They have dishes that are very good on paper, but their execution is a little lackluster(too oily). But their portions are huge! So if you’re going for that, that’s always nice :) I did like their mussels appetizer, although they were a little small there was plenty of it. It’s the only place I’ve tried mussels in BCS, but I’ve had many elsewhere. I’d say it’s pretty mediocre as well. I’ve only gone here once and haven’t gone back so…

4.5 Stars The bolognese is superb! The mussels are very good, as is the chocolate cake! Shrimp and grits are pretty decent too. It can get a little cold in the restaurant. During our last visit, the lady next to us had to put her jacket on, and wear it during her meal. All in all it’s a bit pricy, but very tasty :)

Bacon Shrimp Diablo: This restaurant is a little on the pricey side, but it is well worth the cost. Bacon, shrimp, and jalapenos tossed with linguine in an alfredo sauce — who would have thought these would actually go well together? Apparently Amico Nave did. I’m the sort of person who always needs to order appetizers in order to combat the monotony of eating a repetitive main course, but this one keeps you guessing so there’s no need to order anything extra. Tiramisu: Soft, and fluffy with a bit of a kick to it. Good service, very nice people. Dimly lit, ‘romantic’ atmosphere. Will definitely be back again.
