Very tasty cheese steak although the restaurant is very small with Rickey tables and not very lean.

This place does not get enough credit. Even with a friend hyping their cheesteaks and fries, they were still better than expected. Bread crispy, meat juicy, cheese melty, and onions caramelly. The fries, with no exaggeration, are the best I’ve ever had. Service a bit slow, but the food backs it up completely. You must wait for quality! Excellent work, this restaurant.

Better than expected, id give it a 3.5! It has a pretty shady storefront and the place itself was a little run down, but the food was good. They cook everything fresh and had all sorts of options for cheesesteaks, not to mention their prices were pretty cheap. I got the gyros which were good, but didnt have the kind of meat you get off the spit like normal gyros do. You order at the counter and clean up after your meal. The guys behind the counter were very friendly as well. Overall a good place to grab a quick, not-so-healthy meal :)

Great prices. Great quality. No fuss. Just a really good spot that I definitely recommend. Especially if you’re reading this from the laundromat or car shop. You should stop in.

If i were rating strictly on food I’d give 4 stars, but the terrible service brought it down to 3. I ordered fried fish, and a 6oz(10 inch) mushroom cheese steak with hot peppers. They gave me a 6 inch(4 oz) mushroom cheese steak with sandwich instead. When i got the food i told them i wanted the«6oz» not the«6 inch.» He told me he charged me for the 6 inch. Ok fine, honest mistake i completely understand how 6oz and 6inch could have been confusing. So i ate my food which was delicious btw, but was still hungry after and asked if i could pay the difference between the 6 inch and 10 inch and get 4 more ounces. He made it seem like i was asking him to bend the fuck over and made every attempt to convince me 4 ounces wasnt that big of a sandwich anyway. He eventually folded, charged me the difference, and gave me my sandwich. Not the right sandwich though!!! He gave me a plain philly cheese steak instead of the mushroom cheese steak with hot peppers. I didnt say anything, i just ate it and got the hell out of there. His job isnt rocket science, and instead of acknowledging his mistake, decided to be a complete dick about it. I’ll probably still come back though because the food was good, but i would be sure to order by the inches, not by the ounces pssh

Decided to give this place a try the other week and had one of the better cheese steak sandwiches in this area. Parking was a little difficult and we were a little apprehensive when we walked in as we were the only customers at noon on a Saturday. Both our sandwiches were very flavorful and the portion was pretty decent. Loved the horseradish sauce. We will definitely be back.

Use to come here often when I worked in burlingame. It was a local spot to get cheesesteaks. It always best to call or place an online order for this place. You can avoid the long lines during lunch time if you do.

Waiting for my car to get smogged so I decided to give this place a try. A hidden gem with friendly staff and reasonable prices. Wasn’t starving so I had the corn dog and fries. It was hot, fresh and cooked to order, well worth the 10 minute wait. Will try the cheesesteak next time.

What I ordered was actually very tasty, the chicken and cheese with onion and jalapeños(6oz). Some of the reviews said they didn’t feel like they got enough food for their money but I thought the portions were huge and even took home half the sandwich to eat later. I gave only three stars due to there not being any steak available… that’s right no steak for a couple hours they said and the fountain drink machine was broken. It was my first time there so I don’t know if this is a normal thing but It was very good and the guys working were very nice… I will go back and try it again.

They always manage to make the sandwich suck — overcook, undercook or just cut the meat into huge pieces like a regular a sandwich, whatever it takes, they are consistently worse every time I go here. I gave these guys plenty of chances to prove me wrong because I live right down the street in burlingame. Now I always drive 2 miles to san mateo to get my cheesesteak fix.

I always get this place confused with the OTHER cheese steak shop in San Mateo with a similar name. For you Office fans, it reminds me of the time Michael orders a pizza for the office: Michael: Good news. Stanley: We get to go home? Michael: Guess who just ordered from your favorite pizza place, Alfredo’s? Kevin: Wait. Alfredo’s Pizza Café? Or Pizza By Alfredo? Michael: Same thing. Everyone: [grumbling] No. No it isn’t. Michael: Alright I don’t understand when you all talk at the same time. Kevin: Oscar, talk to him. Oscar: Michael, there’s a very big difference between these two pizza places, both in quality of ingredients and overall taste. Which one did you order from? Michael: Pizza By Alfredo [Everyone grumbles] Michael: Alright. OK, OK. What is better: a medium amount of good pizza or all you can eat of pretty good pizza? Everyone: Medium amount of good pizza. Kevin [alone with camera in conference room]: Oh no, it’s bad. It’s real bad. It’s like eating a hot circle of garbage. Be rest assured that in this situation, this place is Alfredo’s Pizza Café. Though don’t be mistaken, the other place(The Cheese Steak Shop) is still decent and is nowhere even remotely close to eating a hot circle of garbage. That’s just … eww.

This was my first time to the shop. It was just ok. They are a little stingy with the meat and the hot peppers I ordered somehow never made it on the steak. No fountain soda. Just cans. Fries were just ok. I feel I should have gotten more for the money. Oh, no Cheese Wiz! That’s what makes a real Phily Cheese steak! Keep on trying guy’s your close!

This shop uses frozen, individually wrapped«steaks» that are purchased from a vendor. You can watch how they prepare it, they literally dump the frozen steak on the grill as is. The packages are«engineered» to work this way, and they freely advertise the frozen product they buy in the window. The result is what you would expect from a frozen, single pack of steak. Dry, flavorless, but it was also inoffensive as the meat cuts were half-decent. The portion control also helps this shop save money. Selling cheesesteaks is a losing business unless you have huge volume(i.e. lots of customers). I’ve been to this place a few times and I am usually the only other person in the shop. It actually makes me a bit sad, as it seems the owner is trying to do right with a cheesteak shop, but the starting point is a big miss. Buying everything pre-formed or frozen and pre-packed is outdated business model from the early 90s that distributors tried to hard sell on small businesses. Portion control, price control, consistency were the main selling points. However the distributor has a pretty big mark-up, so the shop has to overprice their mediocre portions. The result is Philly’s, an empty cheesesteak shop selling dry, soulless sandwiches that are certainly not awful, certainly a step above foodcourt Great Steak and Potato, but are not something you are going to want or crave. Unless like me, you are in the area, and have no other options. On the plus side, the staff were very nice and they make a good Milk-Tea.

I’ve always been a fan of this cheesesteak shop especially since I go here for lunch sometimes. My work is only 5 mins away. I especially love that I can make certain requests like putting banana peppers on them or extra cheese.

This place is very accommodating as we went in like 2 minutes before they closed. They gladly let us order as long as it was to go. The shop is really small on California street so I’m not too sure how packed they get. The first time I ordered the regular cheese steak and the second time a bacon cheese steak. The bacon one was so filling but really tasty. Also ordered a side of onion rings which were super crisp and perfect. The price is pretty decent for Burlingame, but might be a little bit pricey for cheese steaks. Either way will be back soon when I’m craving a snack!

It has been awhile since I’ve been here. I used to come here for my Cheesesteak fix at least once a week but it was adding inches to my waistline so I had to cut back. I prefer the chicken over the steak for starters. The steak tastes different, not sure what it is. The Chicken and Bacon or the BBQ Chicken are probably my two personal favorites. There is something about the bread that should make a difference but does nothing for me. Bonus though that these cheese steaks are long. I have dabbled a bit in the fried food part of the menu, I would avoid it. The Onion Rings have given me heartburn every time and the batter on the Mozzarella Sticks is a bit too much. Plus there have been a few times the Mozzarella sticks have tasted like fried Calamari. The staff is friendly, very polite, which is why I give it three stars. I think this place may have changed ownership at least once. The location however is the worst and parking is unbearable. Nothing special about the cheese steaks, I have had better though the service and the fact that the next cheese steak shop is well over 10 miles away this place manages to find a niche that Burlingame needs filling.

I agree with the overall rating here. The food is good, it’s just not a lot of quantity for the price you pay. The sandwiches are not that big. Throw on a side of curly fries and a drink and you’re at 11 or 12 bucks and you still might leave here hungry. Make sure you order both sweet and hot peppers. If you’re hungry and want to get your money’s worth go to Crepevine on Burlingame ave which now serves a Philly cheese steak sandwich and/or a crêpe. With that you get huge steak portion, side salad, and potatoes for the same price.

I like it. Quick. I’ve been to many philly cheese steak places and no one can top the one in Sunnyvale. First time here. For a 10″ combo with onion rings and a drink. $ 10. 87. I’m sorry, but I don’t think you are generous with your portions. Ya’ll friendly though.

A few weeks ago, one of my motor-mouth colleagues was talking about his recent East-coast trip to Philadelphia. He babbled all through the conversation about the Philly Cheese-steak sandwich joints from the«City of Brotherly-love». I seriously need to visit Philadelphia very soon! With his annoying story about his vacation, I was craving for the East-Coast sandwich. Unfortunately, my hunger for the sandwich comes from the city of Burlingame. This cheese steak shop is located away from the lively and busy Burlingame Avenue strip and a very popular hangout for high school kids after school, with the school also located not far away. A good selection of simple food from the menu for the high school kids, but the food really didn’t appeal much to me. But I was hungry, not fussy and wanted something quick. I had the Barbecue Chicken Cheese-steak. For $ 6.95, I get the Chicken breast meat covered in Barbecue sauce, melted cheese and grilled onions in a long hoagie roll. The meat was a bit dry and doesn’t appear to be in the same elite class as any of the cheese-steak places in the East coast. I also added seasoned-curly fries and a fountain drink(Coke) for an additional $ 2.50 and that wasn’t too appealing either. My meal: I was in the city of Burlingame for an abysmal meal? Oh man!
