This Italian restaurant is good. My family and I have gone here a few times since they offer deals for Entertainment members. The only thing I get here is the salmon which in my opinion, is really good although, it may not be as good for what it is priced. The only thing that I absolutely love about Scalini’s is their dessert! There’s this one dessert that tastes like Ferrero Rocher chocolate. I haven’t been here in a while but if they have it still, I highly suggest it! The servers here are really nice and after taking a group of 6 friends friends here with me, they offered all of us free dessert. Now that doesn’t deserve for them to get one star now does it?

One of the worst, if not THE worst, Italian restaurant I’ve ever thrown money away at. I’d go as far as to say that Scalini is less enticing than Olive Garden. Seafood fettuccine was dreadful. The noodles were soaked in oil and entirely flavourless. Sauce was dry and nonexistent. Various items of seafood were rubbery, fishy, and far from fresh. Side dishes are horrendous. Polenta was dry and rubbery. Risotto was over cooked and more like oatmeal than rice. Bread was cold and stale. Carne pizza wasn’t bad. Never again.

From start to finish, this place has the best hotel restaurant food I have ever had. The bread is SF sourdough-licious, the roasted baby beet and arugula salad with pear vinagrette was enormous, delicious, and only $ 6, and the pasta is so fresh and delicious. They have half portions of all the pastas. I had a half order and it was so big that I didn’t finish it. I can only imagine what the full order is like. I also ordered a $ 5 side of steamed veggies(broccolini and asparagus) and it was plentiful and so fresh and al dente. These veggies would have cost more that $ 5 at the market. There is no reason to go all the way to the city for good eats. They also have a rather large selection of wines and a good chunk of them are offered by the glass.

The wine guy knew what he was doing, the rest of the place, not so much. Prices were way over inflated.

First Mistake: Going to Scalini during KUBLACON. LOL The restaurant itself is very warm and contemporary. Our server Andrei was very polite and nice, although we got the«Are you Chinese?» comment… it’s okay, he was genuinely curious since he spent some time in China. The food is typical Italian, but w/the overcharged and upscaled version. I had the poached salmon with whipped potatoes and carrots in a butter sauce… very yummy! My man had the pasta and he said it was great. My friend had the sea bass but barely touched it. For some reason with the lack of patrons, it took us more than half hour to receive the food! What the ?!? Anyhow, Andrei was very nice to tell us of the situation and was going to offer us dessert in compensation of the wait. I must say, Andrei decided our dessert, an apple pie! It was HOT, delicious, super gooey and HOT, but not overtly sweet! The phyllo dough was a bit uh under done for my tastes, but it was sooo freakin good. Tony and I polished it off while my friend had travel time issues. We so naughty but it was sooooooo good. It was awkward to get to the restaurant as one must walk and maneuver between tables of KUBLACON folks playing their games. not wheelchair friendly that night! Ooh, make sure you get your parking ticket validated inside Scalini! I like. the hotel was very nice.just.not w/convention goers there.

*This review is for the wine bar ONLY* So my co-workers and I had just had beers at Knuckles, and being the wine fanatics they are… I joined them to taste some of Scalini’s wine selection. We chose the 2006 Los Balamos(whatever it was sounded like this.) for about $ 50. It definitely went down very smoothly. We brought our bottle out to the seating area under the atrium. Between the three of us we got about 2 ½ glasses a person. Don’t forget to validate! First 3 hours free… Can’t comment on service.
