I got the pupusa plate! The pupusas are very cheesy – bring a lactaid! Great place to stop if you’re road tripping up the 5. It is a little pricy but worth it to get out of eating at yet another fast food place!

An alternative to the many fast food options located along I-5. The food however was okay, not delicious. Food: The popusas were huge but bland and doughy, tacos have lots of meat on them but also very bland. Prices are a bit steep, but I would much rather pay a higher price to entrepreneurs than a rich chain fast food any day. Condiment bar/salsa bar located on the side of truck Ambiance: 6 long wooden picnic tables under a shaded area. seems to have lighting for late night stops. I did appreciate the fact that they had a mobile hand washing station In the end one star for the food/and two stars for the women who are working hard and long hours.

So wanted to love this place. Love pupusas. The bite from the fresh cabbage slaw, the acid cutting the greasy, warm cheese and the moist, crunchy on the outside masa shell. What’s not to love?! This one was good. Just thought the cabbage slaw was a little old maybe? Didn’t taste super fresh. Hubs ordered the chicken burrito, thinking he could eat it in the car while driving. Not! It was HUGE! Definitely a fork and knife endeavor, with lettuce, salsa, sour cream piled on top of the burrito. The carne asade street taco was a bit dry :(. The standard fresh onion/cilantro mix, you had to serve yourself at the little salsa bar on the side of the truck. I’m a bit of a clean freak, so that was star off. Love street truck food, but who knows how many hands have been in there. Lots of covered picnic tables in front of the taco truck– nice plus. Lots of Hispanics eating there, another plus, and a way to judge ethnic food :). To be fair, it’s a 3.5. If I was in a better mood, might give it a four, since it’s conveniently located off the 5 fwy. Meal for 4 of us was about $ 40 though. Not cheap for ‘street food.’ Still can’t get over my favorite taco truck in Sac, and this doesn’t compare, despite the draw of pupusas. Might try it out again on our next trip to So Cal. Worth a trip if you’re passing through. Beats McDonald’s, although the kids got their wish of McD’s, since we had a make a pit stop :). The salsa bar we partook from that night(late Sun night driving back from So Cal), did not resemble the pictures and fresh tastiness described in other Unilocal reviews. Maybe it was a long day, and the cilantro was tired. They didn’t have fresh radishes either, which I saw in another Unilocal pic. Will have to try it again :).

Got the supreme burrito without asking what was in it. Lots of cheese and should have asked for salsa on the side. Great taste, but next time I will get something different. Try it out!

Unilocal challenge 2015. 213⁄365 What a pleasant find after making our way up the grapevine on the 5 freeway in the late hours of the night. The taco sign pulled us in like magic. Who doesn’t like taco magic? They are open till 1:00am, buuuuuut they closed at 12:30am. when we were there. Located in a parking lot right off the freeway. You can’t miss it. Tacos, burritos, tortas off this little food truck with friendly ladies. We ordered 4 carne asada tacos and 2 pastor tacos at $ 1.25 each. Other items such as tortas, pupusas, breakfast burritos seemed a little highly priced. $ 7 something for a Breakast rito is high to me. Covered area with multiple picnic tables provided us with an A okay place to eat. This is your best bet in the area unless you prefer greasy fast food. #697

I’m torn between 3 and 4 stars. Bumped it up to four because I love food trucks and the Husband really enjoyed his meal. Friendly service. GREAT salsa bar with fresh chopped onions, cilantro, jalapenos, lime, salsas, et. Loved that extra bit. My lengua burrito was HUGE!!! I mean seriously massive. However, I’ve had better and more tender lengua in San Diego. And the burrito was in serious need of some seasoning. It was very bland. The salsa bar should be enhancing the meal’s flavors, and in this case it definitely helped. The plus one enjoyed his tacos, which he wolfed down and the cheese and pork pupusa. I am not a fan of pupusas but I even enjoyed a few bites. The accompanying slaw was a nice touch. Great find in the middle of nowhere!

If you’re driving on the 5 to/from norcal/socal, make a stop here! Just a nice little place to stop and the pupusas are HUGE. Like the size of the actual plastic plate it comes with! $ 3.50 for a huge pupusa. Man… they made it FRESH so it was hot off the griddle and it was just all hot and cheesy with bits of shredded pork inside. So goooooooooood. I mean, good for it being in the most randomest spot haha.

Asada burrito Sweet corn tamale Pork and cheese pupusa Carne Asada taco Burrito that filled the entire box — lasted me three meals. Full of rice, beans, and carne asada. Generous layer of avocado on top. Yummy! Sweet corn tamale tasted good, but was a little dry. I think it would have been better if I topped it with more sour cream. Hubby had the pupusa and taco — not a crumb leftover.

This place is amazing. The pupusas are great and the tamales de elote are good. They have a nice outdoor shaded area where you can sit down and enjoy your food(along with some Spanish-language radio).

After driving for several hours on the 5 and having the same junk food options in passing– Wendy’s, McDonald’s and Jack in the Box and gas station snack food… Sometimes you want to turn and find a diamond in the rough and that’s exactly this truck spot! They are a fusion spot, predominantly serving Mexican, El Salvadoran and American food. I tried two tasty papusas, the cheese and squash, as well as the bean and cheese. They were made to order and came with a side of Latino slaw and salsa. In addition, they had lots of the fixings so that you can dress them to taste. The squash and cheese papusa was good, but didn’t have enough squash for my liking. Oh, it’s green squash, b. t. w. The bean and cheese was a great texture, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The red salsa it comes with isn’t too spicy, but if you’re looking for a better kick, add some red salsa from the fixing area. They even have green, roasted peppers and beans on the side for you. The entire staff is friendly! The owner came out just to talk to us. They’ve been in the papusa business for 20 years and are very proud of their food. I spoke Spanish to the workers, so if you can, exercise it. Another eating tip: If you hate flies, be careful, the outdoor seating and heat attract flies that are quick. Be swift when protecting your tasty papusas. I’m usually hesitant when eating at food tucks, but they treat their food with care and make everything there, so I would actually give them a 4.5 if I could. Avoid the usual junk food stop and come to Tita’s Papusaria instead!

Tita’s pupusas just doesn’t compare to anything else 100 miles away in radius! Out in the middle of pretty much no where, this pupuseria attracts the regulars who know tita has the best pupusas, tacos and burritos around town. I usually visit about once a year and it makes the drive up/down so much more worth it, even if I’m not that hungry. The food is fresh and hot. Lots of yummy condiments to top it all off. Fresh onions, cilantro, salsa, limes and peppers are kept in a case away from flies, and the drinks are kept chilled in glass bottles. But let me stress again how good the pupusas are! Fresh and cheesy and filling! Always a satisfied feeling after. The el pastor and lengua tacos are also tasty and come in the size of about 2 or 3 bites on fresh corn tortillas. And the burritos! The burritos are a pretty decent size. Still good even if you save the other half for later. It’s definitely something to look forward to during the drive. So try it out! Pupusas hits the spot!

This place is a food truck that is amazing. The ladies are great. They are open 24⁄7. They take credit cards also. My family and I have eaten there several times on our drive on the 5 freeway at Buttonwillow. THey have sandwiches, burritos and of course pupuseria. My mother in law who is from El Salvador thinks they are wonderful and that is an endoresment.

had the pupusas and I wasn’t really a fan. However, their Asada tacos are pretty good! Come here for the tacos! The service is quick and friendly. Don’t let the roach coach and awning scenery scare u away from a tasty meal!

Lets face it, I am a fan of pupusas. Since I first found them a few years ago it is one of my standard searches in a new town.(pupusas and of course a Cuban sandwich — but that is another story) Back to the truck and the covered tables out front and the good food. The first thing to remember is that a pupusa takes a few minutes to create. Unlike a taco or a burrito, you will wait a few minutes. it is worth it and it comes with the territory in pupusaland — yes i think it is a fantasy place in El Salvador — These people know their stuff, and eat at the truck is good and the restaurant down the street are the same people so I will see you there! — Oh yes — Good breakfasts too!

This place is GREAT! I’m lucky to live about Four miles frim this great spot. I always get Pupusas, all are good! I have tried other options like tacos, burritos, etc but always get the Pupusas cause they are my fave. I especially love the Loroco with cheese. The truck is way faster than the actual restaurant and all around better to me. If you hate flies however, eat in your car. Experience the pretty darn good food in the least expected place!

Fresh, hand made pupusas made our drive up North more bearable. We saw the truck after getting gas across the street and ordered three pupusas — a cheese, a squash and a pork. They were as big as the paper plate! Way bigger than the ones at the Torrance Farmer’s Market — also the slaw they gave wasn’t too spicy or sour. We prob waited 12– 15 minutes for our food and we devoured the food when it was ready. Overall, a great find in the middle of nowhere.

On the way back from San Diego this past weekend, we made a stop at Junction 58 in Buttonwillow. We were about to eat at Carls Jr, but my bf decided he wanted to try the taco truck across the street from the Chevron gas station. Eating at a taco truck is just one of those things I DONOT do. But I knew he really wanted to try it, so i sucked it up and went along with it. My preconceptions was that the food was going to be nasty and I was going to starve for the rest of the night cause I wouldn’t want to eat it. The food was actually surprising good though? We shared a Carne Asada Burrito($ 6). That thing was ginormous. I was pretty full after just eating my half of the burrito. There was a lot of meat on my side of the burrito although my bf said that his was filled with beans! :) haha I definitely want to try their tacos and other things the next time I drive past there. Everyone’s food around us looked delicious! I gave them –1 star for having a few pieces of cilantro in my burrito when we asked for no cilantro(I HATE cilantro!) And the hot sauce was kinda nasty. I think Chipotle still has the BEST hot sauce! :) This place is CASHONLY!
