I went for lunch and the food was terrible. I was looking forward to their tortilla soup and ruben sandwich which has been really fantastic in the past. I was informed that the owners have changed hands. The service personnel were friendly and attentive. However, I went to this establishment for their great food and I don’t ever plan on returning. At one point, I would have and have recommended this place to anyone(it was really that good and they put a fresh/creative twist on their dishes — hats off to the previous owners/cooks). The fries that came with the sandwich were even bad(who can mess up fries). The fries were like limp. I was polite to the staff but wanted to desperately tell them how terrible the food was(I didn’t — but I believe they are keenly aware already).

Nice quaint strategically located local place but if you aren’t a regular customer you get ignored by staff.

SOOOO sad! When this concept first went live it was good. The chef was awesome. The quality of the food was great. The prices were unbeatable. I recommended it to loads of people to try out. Sadly the new owners have taken over and the quality is low, the prices are high, and bless the staff, they are just awful. You could wait an eon to get a glass of water and remind the bar tenders and still not get one. They are all nice and smile– just really pretty poor providers of service. They’ve gotten rid of their small happy hour pricing bar menu which was the only reason I kept giving them my business. $ 21 for beer and some truly lack luster food for one person is pretty sad. Bummed at what it’s become! Hopefully everyone can get their acts together and get this place where it should be.

The worst ever. Took forever for waiter to take our order. Took another 45 to get our food. We ordered a French dip and a Philly cheese sandwich. PaId $ 1.95 extra for each to get a salad instead if fries. Why? The French roll was like a refrigerator biscuit. The meat was super salty and seemed like it was boil in a bag meat. The next mornIng I was very sIck. It is our neighborhood café but we will never return. When Jeff had it the service was often bad but the food was so good. Miss him and the wonderful menu.

Way better than I expected. Didn’t expect much from a restaurant in a shopping center. Had a Cuban sandwich and sweet potatoes fries. Absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back.

Been here a few times, tried to support it since I live just 1 minute away. The service is sub par, which I usually can tolerate. But there’s 3 pretty big reasons why I can’t go here anymore 1. Portions are ridiculously small, 2. It’s expensive, which sometimes I understand as long as the food is really good or I get a big portion. Which neither happened. 3. It’s just not that good. And when taking price and portion size into consideration, it’s easy to see this place won’t last long.

My husband and I started going to MO’s when the old owners were still there and we were worried about the new owners at first since they were making a lot of and changes and we were not use to and liked the old MO’s. So we stopped going there for a long time. Recently we decided to give it another try and we were not disappointed! They have made a lot of changes and made it into a very cute fun spot! The food is still great and the service is the best! We look forward to coming back over and over again!

I was invited to breakfast there after church by the owner(Glen) and his family. They had a pretty good breakfast menu and breakfast specials. Particularly, that day they had apple pancakes. Boy, did they looked delicious. For starters, the server brought our some bread pudding on the house. It was pretty darn good. After starting off with some good conversation, we ordered our food. There breakfast special that day was apple pancakes.(they looked delicious, because other customers were ordering them. However, I wasn’t in the mood for pancakes that morning. Instead, I decided to get the chicken and waffles. I ordered a side of scrambled eggs and the chicken was served with some really good house gravy. It was delicious. Although the pieces of chicken were chicken tenders, they were pretty good but a little bit small. But, if they had bone in chicken, man… oooweee…that would be excellent.(just a suggestion) hehe. My overall review: A great place to go and a nice place to recommend people to go to in the Mission Oaks area.

We had breakfast here. The food was excellent. Service was good. For a small local café, it offered more choices than I expected and they kept the drink service going even after we finished our meals.

We just ate at this bar and grill and was disappointed with the food. The service was good. Except my husband ordered a half and half, the clam chowder was served before his half sandwich served and it was not hot. The food was under par. The clam chowder tasted like chowder out of a can with added canned clams and was very salty. His wrap had one slice of bacon. My sandwich was a French Dip… The onions were extrmely oily, store bought smashed roll that was 2″ x 4″ with 2 oz Of roast beef that had a large chunk of grizzle and a .5 oz. Of cheddar chees… At a cost of $ 10.95 This was not worth the money. The fries were cold as was the ajus. We are not interested in returning… Our total cost for this meal was $ 31.00. It was a waste of our money.

Found this purely by coincidence and I’m glad we did. Mind you –I’m writing this review while eating because I don’t want to forget to give them props. This looks like a joint frequented by locals. I was slightly concerned when we pulled up since its in the vons shopping center and the lot was relatively empty. The food is on point. Everything cooked to perfection, ingredients were fresh. Burger was amazing. Nachos was a perfect portion. BLTA was tasty. What makes this place deserving of full stars — the service. Everyone works here as a team. Our drinks were well attended to. Other servers would clear our emptied plates. Rarely do I see so many people in a service industry band together to help each other out.

First time visiting with my girlfriend and sadly, we won’t be returning. Service was sub-par, granted the waitress was new, the menu is small and simple — you should know the basics and training here I suspect is likely non-existent. Service aside, the food was just really bad. I ordered the prime rib & my girlfriend ordered a burger. Both the prime rib and burger were beyond overcooked despite asking for medium-rare. The prime rib was nearly entirely fat and gristle. I also didn’t receive any veggies as per the menu(or the baked potato for that matter, which came with the plate as per the menu but apparently wasn’t available!) Won’t be coming back. Save your time and go elsewhere.

Great food, good friendly service and very clean. The bar is a good low key place to grab a cocktail in the evening and its never bussy enough to be annoying. I usually only eat breakfast here and everything has been great… never disappointed!

Came twice this week! Saturday I had a great waffle, and asked for berries and whipped cream. The fresh berry mix was blackberries and blueberries cooked a bit in their own juices and sugar, just barely caramelised. Mmmmmmmm. So tasty, and Next time I’ll ask for a double serving because it isn’t quite enough fruit for the waffle. Wish they had homemade whipped cream, too, because that would have made the waffle perfect. Breakfast this morning wasn’t quite so successful as they’re out of berries! :(Monday morning berry blues. But the oatmeal and hashbrowns are both on point. In general, Mission Oaks café is a pretty good diner, and the food is tasty. I would prefer 3 ½ stars because the service borders on curt at times, but overall it’s great to have a reliable local joint that hits the spot. Looking forward to see how the restaurant continues to grow. Fresh preserves and a little more cheeriness from the staff would bump this place up quite a bit!

I actually emailed the owner before coming to Unilocal and specifically said that I didn’t want to tarnish the reputation of a small local business by posting a bad review. Well, they decided that they didn’t want to respond. It’s been 6 days. Now I’m even more bothered. I’ll just post my email to the Manager of the restaurant here: My boyfriend and I went in around 10:30AM for breakfast. There were about 7 tables seated, so it looked fairly busy for only having 1 server. The waitress was brunette, not sure of her name. She asked us for our drink order, which was coffee, and a bloody mary. She came back a few seconds later and asked us if we wanted salt on the rim of the bloody mary, we said yes. A few moments later, a young man who looked like he was running the bar, came over and asked us for our drink order. Simple redundancy and we weren’t bothered by it. We then saw that young man go over to the table across from us and asked who ordered the bloody mary. they sent him away as they did not order it. He came to our table, asked if we ordered the bloody mary, and again asked us if we wanted salt on the rim. we stated yes, again. Another simple redundancy, not a huge issue but just mentioning it, as it did play a part in the whole experience today. I think the worst part about the experience was the waitresses’ unpleasantness. I’m not sure if she was just having a bad day or she was overwhelmed, but she didn’t smile at all during the entire breakfast. I actually felt like we were a burden to her… Like she did not want to be working or serving us. My boyfriend and I felt the same about the experience and we are both SUPER easy going. Our food came, Huevos Rancheros and Eggs Benedict. My poached eggs on the Benedict were raw. The eggs whites were slimy and slid right off of the muffin. Wasn’t a big deal to me – I know poached eggs can be tough. I waited for our waitress to come back, let her know what the problem was. Her response was«OK». and she left with my plate. I’m not a waitress but at the very least I would have said«i’m sorry» or «let me grab you a new one»… I thought it was unbelievably rude. The second order of Eggs Benedict that came back was very good and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Our waitress was the main issue with our experience. Also, I should mention that we’ve been to Mission Oaks café 3 times in the last year… each time we’ve gone, it seems that it is understaffed on the wait staff end. We live right down the street and we really want to support you guys. Hoping this feedback and unfortunate criticism will help you.

Love the updated menu and additional TVs in the dining area. Now I can eat the best burger in town(Cowboy Burger) while watching sports from a comfortable booth. They are now featuring regular music on Fridays and Saturdays with local artists and even full bands now. They keep the kitchen open late during music and also stay late with full menu after the high school events down the street. It has become a fave now for my family and friends. They are now open for breakfast 7 days a week and have the best benedicts in addition to their waffles and pancakes in all of Camarillo, hands down!

This is a great restaurant with a great atmosphere. The food in the past was not my favorite but they are now under new management and there is definitely a difference in the taste and quality of the food. If you’re looking for a place to have a good meal and hang out with friends, I would recommend here. They even have live music sometimes which is a plus! The staff are friendly and the prices are great.

I’ve been to Mission Oaks Café on and off for the past year and half. I started going to see their live entertainment on Friday nights. They have always had great service and the food has been ok. Just recently they changed new management and the food has definitely improved. I like how there are more food options and also improvement on taste. I’ve had the opportunity to meet the new owner and he is very open to hearing any critique that one might have. I always try and support local businesses and they do a great job in supporting our community as well.

It has been a while since I had been in and thought I’d give this place a try again. The renovations to the inside look much better. I like that they serve breakfast until 3pm! Unfortunately, the food still isn’t good though. I had the chicken and waffles this time. The waffles had very little flavor. I get that they’re are just plain waffles; however, plain waffles can have a great deal of flavor depending on how you make the batter. The chicken was dry and over cooked. The bacon gravy that was served on the side wasn’t too bad so I used it to flavor the waffles. I also used butter and syrup to dress the waffles. A good waffle tastes great without all that extra stuff dumped on top though. I noticed they had lots of menu items scratched off on the wall. My guess is they’re going through menu changes and having problems in the kitchen. If you’re looking for a good breakfast place and particularly chicken and waffles, then head over to the Hidden Café at the bottom of the Canejo Grade. They do a great job with this particular dish. Staff was friendly and very tentative. I will try lunch out before I give up on this place.

Hate this place. All the good reviews are from fake accounts! Good tactic from the GM, lol Mission Oaks is designed for old people, 70+… Dinner service is a joke and never gets busy, they make all their money from the bar that closes at 9. Some of the employees get mad for you being there. Taco Tuesday suck. $ 3 for a taco. The meat is seasoned with lime and chili or something, they give you some store bought salsa and onions. And it takes up two parking lots, and you have to go into the restaurant to buy them. Lol The GM failed at restaurants awhile ago with mama ritas and its evident she isn’t qualified for this high grossing place. MOs is a place to go when you’ve given up on life.
