They served me one of the grossest cups I have ever seen. Not only did I not drink it, they charged me and I left within ten minutes of being there. Thanks again.

We went here on a Monday night, only a couple of tables had guests. We ordered all over the map here. Lamb shank, salmon wrapped in phyllo dough, pork belly carbonara, special chicken risotto and the halibut. The ambiance was very nice and romantic. The food was good not amazing. I feel like when you not very busy in the restaurant you need to talk to your guests more sell up your menu, make sure all dinners comes out hot and amazing. This place used to be a very busy place …

We were in from out of town as we were attending a seminar. We saw excellent Unilocal reviews and decided to drive down from Oxnard to try this place out. The place has excellent décor and lots of wine on the wall. The service was fine but the food left quite a bit to be desired. The highlight of our meal was the fresh baked roll and oil and balsamic blend. The soup was a disaster. It was warm and not hot and was flavorless. It had some pumpkin seeds in it. The biggest complaint about the soup was that despite ordering a bowl instead of a cup the bowl was practically empty and a cup of soup would have had more soup instead of paying $ 9 for the bowl and the cup is only $ 5. The fig and prosciutto pizza was good but not great. Maybe they just had an off night but we were disappointed.

Wife and I went last night purely on a whim and a prayer that we could find fine dining in Camarillo. We almost did. Finding the entrance to this strip mall establishment proved challenging to these two college educated kids. The«front» door has absolutely no signage. Odd. Mentioned it to the young gentleman who politely greeted us. He told is the landlord had prohibited it. OK… I found the place to have a very nice ambience. Wine bottles and boxes everywhere. Spacious. Nice lighting. Wife did not like the television sets on at the bar. She found it annoying — not befitting a nicer dining establishment. I didn’t mind. Seating was very comfortable and the copper topped tables was a nice touch. Now here’s the thing… The waiter was a complete asshole. After a few minutes he walks up to the table, with an unmistakable sneer on his face and straight up asked if we were ready to order. No «hello». No «how are you». No «my name is». No «can I tell you the specials of the day». But it was the sneer– it was as if we had just spit on his shoes! We were about to get up and leave, when who we believe was the owner showed up to point out that there was no lobster left. We asked point blank if there was some kind of problem. That we were getting a very strange«vibe» from our waiter. He says, of course not. From that point on, the dinner went ok. The food was very good. The service became decent ??? Oh Camarillo, wtf? Someone take these restaurant owners to a legitimate restaurant and show them how it’s done in the real world. Service matters!!!

Been here a few times now and am impressed with their consistency. I ordered the Duck breast this time and it was so juicy and tender! They did a really good job keeping the dish light and flavorful with the arugula. Wine selection by the glass is good. They have a great Chardonnay for $ 9 that was smooth and could’ve easily been a $ 15+ glass. Good range of prices and selection. Servers are nice and friendly. Very robust in personality :) Ambiance is traditional and somewhat dark.

Pros: Nice atmosphere. Great selection of wines. Their food is very delicious. You’ve got the try the pork belly appetizer! Cons: Service wasn’t that great. They are expensive believe it or not. But again, the food was so good, it made paying the bill easier to swallow. They bring you enough bread just for those in your party. We were a party of two, and we only got two pieces of bread. :((the pro side of this is their bread is freshly baked while you wait. Can’t be mad at that.) Wine and beer only. If you’re looking for a cocktail, then this isn’t the place for you.

Frankly not impressed. Huge amount of staff but below par service. Food was not bad but at this price point expect a lot more. Wines really overpriced. Won’t be back.

It’s my wife’s birthday and we were in Camarillo, so I checked Unilocal and saw Sheila’s Wine Bar. The menu looked good, so I called for a reservation, even though it was a Monday night. I called about noon and the phone was answered quickly and the call taker seemed distracted while taking my reservation for 6pm. I thought nothing of it, but made note. Later in the day our schedule changed a bit and I called the restaurant again to change our reservation to 5:30. Again the call taker seemed distracted, almost like I was bother for trying to give them a better time to seat us. We arrived at 5:30 and were greeted at the door. The staff was very pleasant and cheerful. We were the only two diners at the place. The staff immediately fulfilled our drink orders and took our appetizer order. We both ordered some Pino Noir, which was good. We had the baked brie and it was wonderful. Creamy and flavorful. I then ordered a glass of their Ojai Valley red blend. This was a very good wine at the recommendation of our waiter. This wine was well balanced, earthy, rich, with a bit of spice to it. My wife could not decide between the Kobe burger and the pork belly carbonara. So, being the good husband I am, I told her to order both and we’d split it. Both dishes were absolutely wonderful. I make pasta al carbonara often at home but nothing like Sheila’s. They use nice crispy pork belly, which gave the dish some substance and some salty sweetness. The Kobe burger was outstanding. My wife ordered avocado added to the burger, which gave it some real creaminess. This burger was one the best I have ever had. We shared the chocolate Kailua pie, which was decadent. The waiter brought us two glasses of Dow’s port, which paired wonderfully with the dessert. Overall we had a wonderful dinner, had great service, and excellent food. We are moving to Camarillo and will certainly return to Sheila’s for dinner.

Since we live in Ventura(and I continue to lament the fact that there are way to few really good restaurants here) we’ve been exploring surrounding towns to get our foodie fix. After Unilocaling several choices we decided on Sheila’s Place. BINGO! It was fabulous from the time we arrived, with attentive service, one of the best and most extensive wine lists I’ve seen outside of San Francisco and LA(a possible exception being a spot or two in Santa Barbara), and an incredible braised lamb shank that I’m still thinking about days later! Loved the nice low-lighted ambiance and romantic décor — another plus!

This place is cruising below radar. It blends in with the other hacienda style complexes with a bland sign. However, once you walk in, you’re immediately… I’m joking. It’s a great wine bar. Kinda like waking into cheers… Everyone, here seems to know each other. They apparently work together and frequent often. The buffalo spare ribs are amazing. Super tender and too small a portion. We had appetizers and they were 5 star quality. Just completely better than I expected. Overall, great service, friendly people and comfortable, laid back atmosphere. How bout that Walking Dead season finale?!

Won’t be back again. Ordered a chicken and risotto dish. The risotto was not fully cooked. Risotto actually takes quite a while to cook and when they tried to fix it they gave us the same dry old chicken that had been waiting the entire time the risotto was remade. And the risotto itself was still not fully cooked. Service was terrible. Attitude of management was terrible. What a shame.

My boyfriend and I came here around 9PM on a Friday night for dinner. When we first walked in, there was no host. We were unsure if we were to seat ourselves. I feel as if on a Friday night of all nights, there should have been a host present at all times. However, we were clearly on the later side of the dinner crowd, and perhaps the bar is a seat yourself kind of arrangement. After a minute or two of us looking around, a woman came out and sat us. We were almost immediately greeted with a server who asked what we would like to drink. Because we hadn’t reviewed the wine list yet, we asked for water to start. The server returned promptly with water and some bread with the most delicious dipping sauce. We made our wine selections and our glasses of wine were also served promptly. I had checked out the menu online and had fallen in love with the idea of the arugula rolls– baby arugula and bleu cheese wrapped in prosciutto and drizzled with balsamic. I didn’t see them on the restaurant menu, but my boyfriend asked the server about them anyway. The server immediately recognized his description and explained that though they were a seasonal item, he would be happy to have them made for us. This was just delightful! Our appetizer came out promptly. For the main course, I ordered the filet mignon(which came with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables) and my boyfriend got the rib-eye(which came with bleu cheese mashed potatoes and mixed veggies). The meat was good, not the best we’ve ever had, but definitely above average. The mixed vegetables were delicious, as were the bleu cheese mashed potatoes. I found the plain ones to be, well, a little plain. Overall, we had a pleasant experience. The ambiance was nice, the service was good, and the food and wine were enjoyable.

The food. The ambiance. The service. Everything here is just phenomenal and I always have such an amazing experience. The wine selection is to die for, and the culinary masterpieces you won’t find anywhere else are just mind blowing. I can’t even think of what else to say about Sheila’s other than this place has me hooked and it’ll forever hold a special place in my heart. Some definite ones to try: Salmon Puff Pastry, and the Kobe burger I think I wanna go now again haha!

We had such a wonderful time this evening at Sheila’s! When my dad first mentioned Sheila’s for my birthday dinner, I was skeptical. He’s notorious for choosing cheap, bland, chain restaurants for our family get togethers. Looked them up on Unilocal, and agreed! Our dinner was fantastic, to say the least. We received awesome guidance on our wine selections from our waitress, and ordered 2 salads to share between the 4 of us. They split them on our own separate plates, love it! I had the autumn salad, and was impressed by the warm tomato, crisp fruit, and slices of butternut squash. Father enjoyed his Greek salad thoroughly. For dinner I had the Alaskan Halibut, and my sister had the Lamb Shank Special. The Halibut was fresh and had the tastiest white wine sauce with cherry tomatoes, eggplant, carrots and broccoli. The whole meal was just perfect. My sister’s braised lamb shank was so tender, had a delicious balsamic reduction, and came with a side of roasted veggies as well. As I write this, she is reminding me to note that sauce that came with our dinner rolls. «FUCKINGAMAZING.» If I had one note of constructive criticism, it would be that our water glasses were never refilled. I will say, we shut the place down, staying until 930p. My father was on a hilariously offensive, politically incorrect tirade at one point, and to give the staff credit where credit is due, they never once shushed us, or asked us to leave. We had a blast at Sheila’s and I plan on recommending them to everyone for a fancy dinner out with a nice mellow atmosphere. Thanks for the great meal!
