We were eating across the street at Robins and as we always do after a large meal, we decided to wander. Not aimlessly… ok maybe a little. We decided to go across the street and see all the artistic galleries that downtown Cambria had to offer. Amphora was one such place where we were immediately greeted by one of the artists represented at this gallery as we walked in the door. Amphora has 6 local Cambria artists represented there. the vast majority of the work was pottery but they had a few paintings there as well. I can’t stress enough what a great collection of work is in there. The pottery was exquisite and if I had deeper pockets, I may have made a few purchases. In general, the choice of colors and design on the pieces of pottery and pictures are perfect for those wanting to dress up their houses in beach or Spanish mission décor. Great stuff here and I recommend everyone to come and see this place!

We love this place! My husband and I visit Cambria quite often and stop in here every time. So far we own 4 pieces from this gallery. Always fun to go in and see what new things they have made since our last visit. The couples that own the gallery are always pleasant to talk to.

A visual treat on many levels. The ceramics are fun – contemporary with a nod to the antique(as implied in the name of the gallery). The paintings by Brenda Gale have a touch of Munch’s expressionism, but in a light-hearted mood, thoroughly imbued with California dreamscapes and colors. Highly recommended for a visit in this town rich in art.

Amphora Gallery is a small collective of 3 couples(5 potters, 1 painter). The 6 of us live in Cambria and work at our craft full time. We opened Amphora together in December of 2012 and have been having a great time creating artworks of function and beauty to fill the light and welcoming space of the gallery. If you appreciate fine clay and paintings come visit!

I bought a fish platter and small bowl and had them shipped. They were very protected and beautiful when I opened them. It’s fun to get a treat from your trip after you’ve returned to routine life. I love their pottery, especially the aqua pieces with matte glaze. Their mugs are so nice too with a nice feel in your hand. The glazes meld into pretty colors making them unique. Can’t wait to come back to Cambria!

I just purchased a beautiful bowl for a wedding gift. I wanted local handmade pottery from the central coast. This is the perfect place. It is a group of five potters. I loved the variety and quality-priced well. Gary one of the potter/owners was very friendly and helpful.

I am not an avid pottery fan and this place has a lot of pottery. An older couple were admiring a blue colored vase with wavy designs. One of the artists was minding the store and putting on designs on her clay bowl before it goes into the kiln. Nice local artistry work by 6 individuals.

Wonderful pieces! Best I have seen in a long time. They have a lot of unique pieces and the artists who do the work also run the gallery. They are friendly and fun to talk with. This store was the highlight of my trip to Cambria. I purchased some great looking fish!

New store in Cambria. Husband & Wife team who make majority of the pottery in the gallery. I believe they carry other pieces from local artists too. Beautiful craftsmanship with reasonable prices. I bought a new mug to have at work. Very cool to purchase a piece of art from the actual people who made it. Now when I drink water at my desk I’ll remember my relaxing vacation.

My husband and I were leaving a restaurant across the street when we saw Amphora Gallery. We could see the great pottery on the display, so we headed over to get a better view. Amphora has a nice selection of pottery made by local potters and others in the Central CA area. There were also beautiful, vibrant oil paintings for sale. I really wish I could have bought one(next time). We decided on one vase as a gift for my mom. I’d highly recommend paying a visit to Amphora if you are in the area– beautiful work and help support local artisans!
