Love this shop, great work, much to choose from. Unfortunately, this shop closed on Nov 15 for good :(

Oooohh… I love me some pretty glass art. Just wish I had the budget for this desire for beautiful things made from high quality glass art. A must stop every time we’re in Cambria. Small pieces, big pieces. Some odd, eccentric pieces. Mostly amazingly beautiful pieces. So many colors! Great place to buy a meaningful gift for anyone celebrating a special life event.

So yes, as you can tell from other reviews, this place is slightly expensive. However, that isn’t always an issue if you’re like me and budget for art on trips. I’d rather get one nice thing than a bunch of crap. So last time I came up here with my then boyfriend(now husband) I saw these ridiculously cute glass chocolate squares I asked if they had a cupcake. I HAD to have a cupcake if it were available, so we asked the saleswomen working in the front. Their response? «Yeah we did have a cupcake but they were really expensive…» *crickets chirping* Uhm, excuse me? I didn’t say I cared about the price now did I? I guess this is one of the side effects of being the partner of a long-haired dude who sometimes dresses like he’s in a garage band — we look like we can’t afford handcrafted glass cupcakes. *sigh* I stood there for a few more seconds to give the woman a chance to correct herself and offer to contact the artist or find out if one could be custom made. Nothing. I gave the place another try last visit to Cambria, more crickets. My mom and I, dressed up to go out and rocking designer bags, STILL ignored by the woman working there. Not even a «hello», or «how can I help you?». Nada. Between this place, the antique place in Solvang, and the Target in Ventura, I’m starting to get a complex about how poor I must actually look. *le sigh*

Expensive but many beautiful pieces of glass blown art. Harmony Glassworks(in Harmony — duh) also is pretty good.

Expensive as hell, but I loved looking around with my partner. So many neat things… but alas, when you have pets… especially cats… you can’t really own nice things.

My husband and I have a love affair going on with blown glass«art.» There is lots of oooohing and aaaahing going on with practically everything we view. This is one of my favorite shops for such a viewing. I discovered this place back in ’97, but when I heard about the earthquake up there several years later, I was so scared for this shop(and several others). THANKGOD, it survived, or at least, they didn’t have to close their doors for long. The blown glass at this particular store, by a number of artists, is such a comprehensive collection. I haven’t really seen as much… or as nice… anywhere else. Were these items not so out of my price range, I would have certainly bought some pieces. I think each piece is worth whatever they charge, but unless I win the lottery, viewing is ALL I will be doing… oh, and taking pictures. Check mine out, and you’ll see what I mean. No photo will capture all of the spectacular dazzle of seeing in person, but it’s better than nothing !! Drive up to Cambria… it’s a fun little town, great places to stay right on the ocean, with lots of shops and good places to eat(don’t forget that fudge shop… The Gourmet Gift [separate review]…and Hearst Castle is just up the road.) Seekers, for me, is one of the highlights and a MUSTSEE everytime I go.

Sometimes economic downturns are fun. Having visited this place at the height of the real estate boom, and finding it to be little more than a pleasant diversion between the various art/souvenir/antique shops in Cambria due to the ridiculous cost of everything, I’d never spent more than a few minutes in here oohing and ahhing at the lovely Dale Chihuly glass jellyfish art. As the economy has cratered and endless amounts of disposable income meant for the acquisition of glass collectibles has gone the way of well-funded public institutions and respectful political discourse, there are suddenly a wide variety of pretty objects available for purchase by paupers who, previously, were confined to window shopping. I’m not sure if I should be happy about this or not… but my girlfriend did really like the earrings we purchase there.

Although we didn’t buy anything here, we would’ve if we had the money to buy it. There are a variety of unique designs to decorate your home. We were eyeing this glassware set.

Most of the town of Cambria closes shop early except the shops on Burton Street. These places stay open until 10pm. I love coming here at night since it’s all glass sculptures and they look beautiful all lit up with the gallery lights. Unfortunately for them I treat this place like a museum. I just go in to look around to «ooh» and«aah». With my salary that’s all I can do! Nice thing is they know 90% of the people are there just to look so they don’t hover around you like most galleries.

I am both a fan of Chihuly’s work and Murano glass(just saw Venice for the first time this summer!) so the pieces in the window of this shop naturally drew me in on my recent visit to Cambria. The ladies running the store were very friendly, offering to tell us about the various pieces and showing us the artists’ bios they have next to their displays. Their pieces range from exotic Chiuhuly-inspired works in deep reds and oranges to funny little lizard figurines to beautiful glass bead work. They really have something for every taste and style. I found the cost to be a little prohibitive to my budget, but I can tell the craftsmanship is well worth the sticker price.

This is my kind of place. I love art glass. The inestimable Ed U has already given some of the background in his review. I will just say that they have a variety of works by Satava Glass, someone named Tim Lazer, whose who work really drew me, Cohn-Stone pumpkins and bowls, stunning platters and a variety of works by artists who were new to me. One, whose name escapes me, clearly has studied w/Chihuly. It was a pleasure wandering through and admiring. For the rest of the details read Ed’s review.

Seek and ye shall find… GLASS…lots and lots of glass! Renowned glass sculptor Dale Chihuly currently has a rather controversial exhibit at SF’s DeYoung and Legion of Honor Museums( ). Critics have claimed the gift shop has finally taken over the art, but a more forgiving eye can appreciate the detail of the work presented. Blown glass is pretty cool if you ask me. When I saw an artist at work in Venice once, I could not help but be floored by the shapes that could be made by modulating one’s breath and poking around the molten glass with one red-hot stick. Two married couples own this small but impeccably presented shop, and it is filled to the brim with such glass art pieces(see my photos). There is nothing quite as elaborate as a Chihuly piece, but you can see many things of meticulous and colorful beauty — mainly stunning vases and bowls. There are also some unusual pieces like a jellyfish lamp, little glass caterpillars and even golf clubs with glass heads, all of them with their own perfectly detailed patterns. Even if you don’t buy anything, it’s worth a stop to browse. Oh and remember George Glass? Sure you do… that was Jan Brady’s imaginary boyfriend. Yeah, the one she made up because her football-playing study buddy took one look at Marcia and wanted to do her in that den with the ugly wood paneling. So you’re probably asking yourself what that has to do with Seekers Gallery? Nothing… except I think I saw George in there… yeah, he was there a minute ago. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia.
