The hibachi is probably the worst in syracuse. They up charge for fried rice, which is always included at other places. Portions are also a bit smaller than other comparable restaurants. The sushi does taste very good but the rolls are smaller compared to other sushi places. I’ve tried this place three times now and about the only positive things I can say is that there volcano roll is good and it’s close to my home. Otherwise I’m not impressed at all with this place and would recommend a variety of others around the area that are less expensive and provide better food for the money.

I ate lunch here with my family and we were all surprised how nice our meals turned out. We all got a sushi item and they brought a specialty roll to the table on the house. We also had a 2 year old with us who they prepared chicken broccoli and rice for. Really they couldn’t have done a better job. It was slow when we were in there and we got all the attention haha

I have since been back to Mitsuba a few times and the service has been great. I recently had hibachi and it was delicious as well. I’m changing my rating to 5 stars as the lack of service had been my only reservation.

First, let me say that the sushi at Mitsuba is a thumbs up. The rest might not be as good. Our experience: My husband and I went for date night and wanted to eat outside. We were asked hibachi or dinner and when we said dinner we were immediately ushered to a table inside. We asked if it was ok to eat outside and our hostess said yes, apologized and walked us to the outter dining area. We ordered two sushi dishes and two entrees. The young lady who took our order scribbled it down on paper and came back 10 minutes later saying she couldn’t read her handwriting and asked for the order again. No big deal. Reordered. My husband’s entrée came with a salad and he wasnt given a fork, which I thought odd. Not that using chopsticks for the salad was hard but it isnt really the right utensil for salad in my opinion, but thats me. Our entrees came out next, which we were also confused about as sushi typically comes out before entrée plus one of our sushi rolls was listed as an appetaizer… Ok. No biggy? We started eating our entrees. I got the Katsu Don, he got shrimp tempura with rice. The pork in the Katsu Don was dark and dry. My husband’s tempura was great though – they were HUGE and perfectly coated – so I ended up picking off his plate and he helped eat some of mine. All in all, I think Mitsuba is a good place for sushi. I would likely go back but probably steer clear of the regular entrees and stick to the sushi/seafood.

We went to Mitsuba to celebrate my daughter’s birthday and were disappointed with the Hibachi. The food was your standard Hibachi. Nothing extraordinary or delicious. We ordered some steak, chicken, and shrimp hibachi. My daughter was beyond excited to see the show while they cooked. She had seen a flyer we received in the mail and decided that’s where she wanted her birthday dinner. Unfortunately, our chef was a bore. We found ourselves looking at other tables to be entertained and watching the great tricks they did. Our chef stuck to the basics and had little to no personality. We have no desire to go back when we can go else where and be guaranteed a good time and great food even if we have to travel a little further from home.

I’ve been here roughly 5 – 6 times since they’ve opened and can’t say enough great things about Mitsuba in Camillus, NY @ Township 5… The sushi is always as fresh as you’re going to get(recommend the Volcano rolls!), and the Hibachi is equally fantastic. Add to it, the modern décor on the inside, and the always polite servers, and you got yourself a 5 star experience. Last but not least, for you craft beer lovers, they even have a decent selection of local craft brews! I’ll be back, as will others I know, and can’t recommend this establishment enough! Bar none the most well put together, first class Japanese Steakhouse in Central NY! Nuff said.

I just moved to Syracuse a month ago. Came to mitsuba twice with my girlfriend. The service was just soso. The hibachi rice was too salted and the chef was not as funny as the one I went before. What I can say is it’s pretty over here and nothing else.

Have been here a few times already and can’t wait to get back! Always delicious food and great service. I have had the hibachi and some sushi rolls and have to say Mitsuba has some of the best I’ve ever heard for both dishes.

As I had stated in my previous review, my fiancé and I are very picky about sushi. The owner reached out to me personally to offer a gift certificate to come back and try again for the 3rd time. This was very nice and showed great care they have for their customers. The sushi was better than last time but still not amazing. The rice was a little gummy, which is certainly a step up from falling apart everywhere. I loved the free roll they gave us(I think it was a volcano roll)!! My sushi entrée was good, I love sashimi so I decided to try it here. The lunch selection was okay. I wish they had an a la carte menu for sashimi. We ordered the spring rolls, which were nice, but smaller than expected and the miso eggplants. The eggplant was bitter, I knew it wasn’t a Chinese or Japanese eggplant because of its size and that worked against it, the top part of it was fantastic in flavor, but it was a bit chewier and bitter on the bottom. We didn’t end up finishing it, but the manager was kind enough to take it off our bill. This place has amazing service, they pay attention to their customers needs and I wish I was amazed by their sushi. I may come back and try their non-sushi or hibachi menu one more time because I hate to not return to a restaurant with such great service. I had an excellent experience, the service was amazing, the food presentation and timeliness was great. I’m still waiting to be wow’d!

Oh wow Mitsuba, where do I begin?! Let me start by saying that my boyfriend and I have probably tried nearly every Japanese spot in and around Syracuse, and Mitsuba stands out in a league of its own, by a mile. We haven’t yet tried hibachi, but the sushi is fresh and well made every single time. Appetizers are always delicious, and they are always generous with a complimentary app. One of things that truly makes this place stand out is the service. The wait staff is on top of everything, food comes fast and servers are very friendly. Not to mention the place seems to be impeccably clean which is always important to me in a sushi place. I don’t think I have seen this of a high level of service at another sushi/hibachi place in Syracuse. Our stomachs have left highly satisfied every single time!

I’ve been here three times — twice for hibachi and once for sushi. All these visits have been exceptional. Service is friendly and food is great. I believe a manager or the owner(not sure, but he looked important) greeted us and made sure everything was going OK. Love this place!

Beautiful décor, friendly and fast service. Extensive menu. Went for lunch in the restaurant service side. We’ll be back soon to try the hibachi side. Chicken Teriyaki was sizzling when it arrived, and delicious.

Love the place, went there about 4 times now the past month. I’ve always had the hibachi, and it has always been great! The sushi were also good. Few complaints. The sushi didn’t come with any wasabi-mayo. The yum-yum sauce(I think that is what it is called) is pretty good with the sushi though. The salad that comes with the hibachi sometimes is doused in sauce. Also, REMEMBERTOUSETHEAPP, about half the time the servers did not remind me to use the app, you’ll get $ 15 off after 6 visits I think

Even though we showed her the Unilocal free miso soup with check in, and asked 3 times for the soup, she didn’t give it to us with the order. Server was pretty rude to us but we were in a good mood and didn’t let it phase us while we ignored after being the only customers in the place. The food was also not very good, but my husband had a sake bomb that he really liked. We would never go again and wouldn’t recommend to anyone ever.

Great Sushi spot in Camillus. I’ll be the first to admit, Mitsuba had its growing pains. The first two times we went, the service was terrible. Very slow, and drinks were inconsistent. But we kept trying it, given its close proximity to our house. Sure enough, they got much better. Last few times we went were perfect. The rolls here are delicious, as have been our hibachi meals. Overall, definitely one of the better sushi places in Syracuse, and certainly the best on this side of town! Will absolutely return. Get the volcano roll!

First time here, the service was good, and the restaurant is nice. We had the CNY hibachi dinner for two. It included shrimp, chicken, steak, and vegetables. We paid an extra $ 2 per person to upgrade from steamed rice to fried rice. To start you can choose from onion soup or salad. We had the soup and it was pretty tasty. The meal preparation was entertaining and the food was good. One thing I noticed, the staff is a well oiled and synchronized machine.

I could not wait to try Mitsuba in Camillus. I have been a fan of their New Hartford location and was so excited to see them expand to the Syracuse area. They did not disappoint. The restaurant offers a traditional dining area, sushi bar, drink bar and hibachi tables. The staff was warm and inviting. We started with pork dumplings. Pan fried and paired with delicious sauce they started our meal on the right path. Entrees were also delicious. Hibachi chicken was fresh and full of flavor. Teriyaki chicken was flavorful and can be paired with rice or noodles. They brought out complimentary sushi which was amazing. The menu is packed with several choices of sushi rolls and sashimi. They have traditional Chinese entrees, some Thai and hibachi. They offer take out. It was a great experience. Looking forward to returning!
