I usually don’t post reviews for restaurants but this meal was so amazing that I must. I had the sunset on cape may sushi roll. Best sushi I ever tasted. I shared an order of mussels with my husband and they were amazing and had such a unique sauce. We had a beautiful view of the ocean beside us. The staff was friendly and courteous. I will definitely be coming back here next time I’m in cape may!

Good was good. I had the lamb ragout with pappardelle pasta. It was very good. As was the beet salad. My mojito was a little untraditional but still good. I don’t think it was really tapas, but that is just semantics.

Not the best experience. Everything seemed like a challenge for the staff. Hardly any welcoming smiles. No specials. Just not the best place to be. However when talking w/bartender… they made a good cocktail. Just not the easiest to do.

Had dinner at Room 429 last weekend and really enjoyed it. Food was great, service decent and drinks okay. The latter two are really the reason for the one star demerit. Service was semi-attentive but amateurish. Drinks were okay but my mojito, for example had only a few flakes of mint where it should have lots of muddled leaves floating around. That said, however, Room 429 is a solid choice, proving delicious food with a view of the beach that’s awe inspiring. Scallops/risotto were so good that I actually retained the pic in my iPhone rather than deleting like I usually do after uploading them to Unilocal.Broiled oysters were, likewise, outstanding. Selection of both small and large plates were really enough to please even the most discerning foodie. I find it really awesome how NJ beach front dining has evolved over the years. When my family first started visiting the Jersey Shore over 40 years ago, lousy restaurants with expensive food were the norm. We went in hoping to have at least a mediocre experience and as long as they didn’t totally suck we were happy. Not so now. Top chefs are opening up pubs and restaurants with food and ambiance to rival their inland and city counterparts. Room 429 is one of these places. Walk up the stairs and into something really great. I think you’ll be happy you did.

We got recommended to this restaurant from a waiter at beach creek(same owners) we like to try one new place every year we are down here so we came here. First of all the atmosphere was amazing a classic atmosphere that over looks the ocean(if you request that seating while making reservations). Then we were given the cocktail menu and new this place was going to be in our top 3 just by the cocktails alone. We then went and ordered a bunch of small plates and sushi and everything was spot on that we couldn’t stop there we went on ordering a few large plates and we all scrapped the plates clean. But wait it didn’t stop there we went on and ordered dessert and I don’t even have words to explain how good the almond cake is. This is their first year here but can tell this place will be around for years to come. Thank you Bill for this recommendation did not disappoint.

Beautiful intimate dining room with a great view, delicious food, and the best part is their craft cocktail drink menu! It features delicious restaurant infused liquors like strawberry vodka and smoked bell pepper tequila. I had a cocktail called Canned Heat and it was awesome! Friendly handlebar mustached bartender included!!!

I wrote a review of this place under its previous name, M’Ocean, but they’ve just changed it to 429, so I wanted to post my view here. I was very disappointed in the food. From start to finish, it was uninspired and did not seem fresh(we tried the crabcakes, chicken, & the crab salad). In fact, my husband had to send back his chicken as it was inedible. The wine list contains all low-grade wines(screw-off tops). The coffee was hours old(it turned gray even after lots of cream was poured in — which, by the way, curdled when we poured it in). The music is 50’s style, ala Wildwood, and blasts too loudly from the bar into the dining room. The only positives are that the service was friendly and the view, if you get a window seat, is good. It is certainly not a fine dining restaurant in quality, although you will pay the price of a fine dining restaurant(meaning $ 120+ for 2). I have a feeling that they’re going for the bar crowd, so if that is what you’re into, maybe you’ll have better luck; however, the low quality of the dinner experience makes me think that the manager/owner doesn’t really care too much about quality in general.

YUM!!! Great service, and the sushi was AMAZING! We will definitely return here when in cape may! Get the M&M roll and cilantro yellowtail roll, you will not be dissatisfied in any way! Beautiful view, great New Orleans based music!

Not sure if this place will last as it seems the location has a lot of turnover. The view is amazing if you are willing to walk the steep stairs to get there and you are lucky enough to snag a seat by the window. This restaurant has many things working in its favor besides the view — — –the menu and the quality of the food were great! I also loved the drink menu with a selection of «near beer» cocktails — the service though was abominable. The hostess was strange and lurking. The bartender described the near beer as a shandy. A shandy reduces the alcohol content of beer these were raising the alcohol content by adding liquors etc. The drinks took FOREVER to come out — I mean to the point we either had to ask repeatedly to get them and then even forgot we had ordered them. Our entrees were brought out as an appetizer and I could go on and on. I am sure it is hard to find good service in the summer in Cape May but it’s such a shame that this place has missed the mark. Compliments to the chef/s as everything that was eventually brought to the table was prepared beautifully and to perfection.

Bartenders are friendly and their skills of making drinks are truly on point. A must visit here in Cape May. Btw. it’s New Orleans meets Cape May!

Stopped in for some cocktails after visiting The Brown Room. Ordered the La Louisiane which was a Rye-based drink served in a coupe glass. Very good mix of ingredients and the taste was excellent. Décor is speakeasy-chic with dark walls, a faux tin ceiling and filament bulb lighting. Bartenders knew their stuff as my companions all liked their drinks as well(all ordered the Near-Beers).

Although the food was decent, the service was awful. Took 3 ½ hrs to leave. Waited on every part of the meal including 15 min just to get the check. Definitely never going back, and would tell others to stay away

New Orleans in Cape May. The theme is totally awesome. Let’s start with the bar The bar is New Orleans style. The bartender Mac is really from New Orleans. Louisiana style drinks are served as well. Nice bar selection. Ambience of the bar makes you feel like New Orleans. They have live jazz bands fantastic live music. We ate 4 different plates, grilled octopus. Is delicious, beet plate great as well. What a trendy fun spot. I absolutely recondmend this place for a great night. You can just hang out and drink, or have dinner and drink. View of the ocean as well. A+
