While visiting Cape May for a weekend getaway over my birthday this past summer, my boyfriend and I made a dinner reservation at M’Ocean the first night we were there, and ended up loving it so much we decided to go back for our second night too. We indulged in almost everything — sushi, small plates, cheese, entrees, cocktails, wine, dessert. Every thing was superb and had us wanting more. The service was great, they were incredibly friendly and attentive, quick to take our drink order and even quicker to deliver round 1 of cocktails. They even remembered our names the second night(not expected but certainly a nice touch). The restaurant itself is beautiful and the view is incredible. We sat right in the front of the restaurant at the window. They had a jazz trio the first night we were there that contributed to the ambiance immensely. M’Ocean is definitely a great experience and I can’t wait to go back.

My wife, son and myself spent a couple of hours the other night at M’ocean. The staff couldn’t have been nicer. Chris and Rudy at the bar especially good guys. We were introduced to a variety of unique cocktails, all of which were expertly prepared. Then we preceded to order a few appetizers. The mussels with curry and coconut were exceptional the pork belly… give me more. We had a few others, seared tuna, crabmeat and beet salad that were also terrific. There are plenty more choices that we couldn’t get to in one night including the sushi and the dinner menu looked good as well. Can’t wait to go back to sample a few more of their unique offerings. A really relaxing, enjoyable, gastronomic treat. Thanks guys

This is, without a doubt, the worst«fine dining» restaurant that I’ve tried in Cape May. Let’s start with the only positives of the place: the servers and hostess were friendly, the view(beach) is nice, and the décor is suitable(tablecloths, etc.). The lobster bisque as passable(not traditional, though; more of a loose, Caribbean type soup, but not bad tasting). Now, let’s get to the many reasons that I gave this place one star(really, zero stars, but that isn’t an option): 1) The music was loud and completely unsuitable for dinner music. We had to listen to the Best of Fats Domino during the entire dinner. I’m not kidding. Imagine having«Blueberry Hill» blasted as you eat dinner. 2) The bread was below diner quality. In fact, it looked like bread, but it didn’t taste like bread. 3) The food lacked presentation and taste. Let me take you through the meal. This place is so-called«fine» dining, right? Think again. They have no wine list. They gave us a paper list of a few sub-par wines by the glass and told us that if we wanted a bottle, all the wines were the same price: $ 36. We had little choice, so we selected what seemed to be the best of the lot: It actually came with a screw-off top! Do you like that? That should have been a sign to leave, but unfortunately, we stuck it out, much to our regret. Onto the food. .. My husband’s crab«salad» was crab dumped in a mold and served on a plate with smashed avocado. Where’s the sauce? Where’s the creativity? My husband got the chicken entrée, which was not fresh — in fact, it was inedible; he couldn’t possibly choke it down and it wasn’t suitable to take home to our dog, so he sent it back. My lobster/crab cake was mediocre to below average — -soft and«gooky» inside and nearly flavorless. We didn’t risk dessert, especially when we were told it was made in house. We did have the coffee — again, unfortunately. When I first poured in the cream, it curdled(I guess they must have gotten it at the same time they got the chicken). Fortunately, the hostess was standing there and brought us another. The coffee had to be hours old; my husband poured in half the container of cream and it was still gray. We just left it and asked for the check. They did do the right thing and take the chicken off our bill. The food is horrible, from start to finish. This establishment has a cook, not a chef. I find it a shame that tourists save all year, come to CM, and some are unfortunate enough to chose this place as «the» special place to dine. This is diner-quality food in the guise of a fine dining restaurant. I would be very surprised if M’Ocean lasts more than a season or two.

This place is right across from the beach. Excellent location. This place is more of a bar but lunch was pretty good. Good size portions and tasty. I asked for bottled water or seltzer … they did not have it surprisingly. Overall good experience.

Guess what, M’Ocean is under new ownership again. We were there for their soft opening last night. The new owner, Chris, also owns Beach Creek in Wildwood, one of my other favorites. They walked around with a variety of tastings, and everything was great. The bartenders were straight up from New Orleans, and were awesome. Fast, friendly, and knew how to make everything. Looking forward to getting there for dinner, and trying out their full menu. Good luck guys!

A case of serious miss-management: We made a reservation for 30 people and it had been planed for weeks with M’Ocean — then their sales/marketing director quit(or whatever happened) and nobody informed/contacted us to let us know, or the person who quit never passed on our reservation, or they just didn’t care to do anything about it. Its all speculation– but either way they mislead us in thinking that we still had this reservation… So we called several times before hand ‘post-director quitting’ to confirm our plans and people just pushed us off, they would not call us back to confirm or dis-confirm anything… We were dragged along until last minute and then we made the final decision to go else-where, which was the best decision we made during this whole experience. Luckily we found another restaurant, very nice, very easy to deal with and accommodating! So we are happy now. But as for M’Ocean they are so miss-manged and after this experience we have no interest in ever going there.

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at M’Ocean. Everything was phenomenal! The service was great and the food was excellent! They worked with us to create an event menu to fit our needs. The chef and staff were incredibly accommodating! We had nothing but compliments from our guests. We highly recommend M’Ocean… it’s a must do for us in upcoming trips to Cape May!

I was in Cape May this past weekend and we decided to try M’Ocean as we were looking for a nice seafood dinner. We started with a drink in the bar and were given a nice table on the balcony with a great view of the sunset. We started off with a dozen oysters which were good and then ordered appetizers and dinner. The appetizers were good, not exceptional, but fine. It was down hill from there however :-( We were stunned when the main courses were placed in front of us. They truly looked like plates of bad cafeterial food. My tuna was covered with a brown paste, sides were broccoli rate and polenta. Zero color or taste on the plate and portioned too large as well. Another at our table ordered the special of sea scallops and pasta. The sea scallops were good but accompanied by a cold pasta salad that looked like it was dumped from Acme deli container. Okay, bad, bad meal but I was more surprised when the waitress came to see if we wanted to take home our meals, as she could see they were barely eaten at all! We said no and in any decent restaurant, the next interaction should be «Was there someting wrong» or «Can I tell the chef anything». Instead, the next question was«well would you like dessert or coffee». «No, just the bill please». BTW my Tuna entrée was $ 32, which I would had be completely fine with had it been edible !

Food and service is top rate. Pork chop melted in my mouth. The service was prompt and professional. M’ocean is now on my must do list for Cape May.

Went there last Saturday. Got a table with ocean view and the service was awesome, food was great and fresh(although not a big seafood guy). Service was hands down best I’ve been to in cape may. GM emir and his staff were welcoming… great time my girkfriend and I had.

We were excited to try out this new restaurant but sadly we were disappointed. The ambiance and service were very good. My pear martinin at the bar was pricey but delicious. We ordered oysters 3 of their 6 variations were sold out. The oysters were just ok. The rest of the meal was short of memorable, we had the tuna appetizer, lobster ceaser and split the sea bass entrée. The tuna did not have a a great deal of flavor, the sea bass was a bit over cooked, cut into smaller pieces and served with pasta. Unfortunately nothing about our meal wowed us.

So we called Sunday afternoon 7÷20÷14 to make a reservation for Sunday night. We got a VM that said leave a message for a reservation and someone will get back to you. I left an elaborate message regarding day/time/name/our ph # etc around 3 pm. Today is Monday and we never received a call from the restaurant!!! So we went to PSI and had a wonderful meal. Their loss! Very bad first impression!!! We won’t even try it now!!!

One might think there was no need for another upscale restaurant among the many fine dining venues in Cape May. But M’Ocean not only is excellent but INTERESTING. Our meal started with a «peartini» — a vodka martini with a pear taste — but not too sweet. The veal sweetbreads were outstanding, and the chunk of endive a great touch. The cold smoked diver scallops were excellent — if you have the taste for smoked scallops. We had the«signature» dishes — Swordfish with crabmeat on top in a wonderful sauce. The 45 day aged ribeye steak was as advertised — but probably better with this cut to have it medium rare rather than rare. The servers were friendly and attentive. And the view of the beach and ocean and the boardwalk(actually cement walk) was great even inside the restaurant. Reserve early to get a seat on the porch.
