If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Peter and his team catered our wedding in Cape May. I can honestly say that had we gone with another catering group, I don’t think our wedding would have been nearly as much fun and I know I would have been a lot more stressed out. My new husband and I love good food and consider it to be one of the more important parts of a wedding reception. Our plan was to serve our guests a dinner of tapas style bites. We wanted the food to be plentiful, unique, and delicious. Peter put together an amazing menu(lobster bisque shooters, thanksgiving in a cup-turkey confit with chorizo stuffing and cranberry jam, pork belly crepes, chicken in waffles, swordfish tacos, mini crab cakes, soba noodles, just to name a few favorites) and he was incredibly easy to work with. Throughout the process if I even mentioned that we still needed something, he jumped on it and took care of it completely. Fast forward to the day of our wedding. Beach wedding turns quickly into a makeshift indoors wedding due to terrible weather. Peter’s team never flinched. They handled all of the set up flawlessly and with an amazing, upbeat attitude. His team handled the bar tending as well and managed our overly enthusiastic wedding guests(and overly enthusiastic bride and groom) with a smile and incredible service. At the end of the night, my new husband decided that late night pizza sounded delicious. The catering team jumped on the idea and shortly after boxes of delicious pizza arrived(and then quickly disappeared into the mouths of our alcohol laden guests). During the wedding and now a month later, all of our wedding guests are GUSHING about the food. Every guest has a different favorite and they were all blown away by the service. I cannot say enough positive things about YB, Peter, Yianni, and everyone they brought to our work our wedding. Thanks guys!

Came here with a large party last night and left rather unimpressed. It’s the off-season, so we were easily able to get a same-day reservation, which was nice, especially because the restaurant is pretty tiny. The service was ok — none of the complaints of other Unilocalers there. The restaurant was very dark when we arrived at 5:45 though, and I was surprised that no lights or candles went on throughout our meal, making it very dark inside by the time we left(I get the trendy atmosphere, but it was a bit too dark for me). The food was just OK. We ordered appetizers to share, which were mostly good, but not great. I thought the swordfish tacos were weird and lacked flavor. The duck fat fries were good but nothing special. Our waiter recommended the crab cakes, so I trusted him and went with them. Totally unimpressive — there was a decent amount of crab cake, but zero seasoning, and not enough tartar sauce to spread around. They came pushed off to the side of the plate, which I found odd, and served with a pesto couscous, which also lacked flavor. Bonus star for being a BYO(leading to large savings with a large party), but overall I wouldn’t recommend it.

What I’ve Had: Chorizo Scramble Would I go back?: For the Food = Yes for the Service = NO Story: My cousin proposed to his now fiancé in Cape May and invited the family along for the weekend to celebrate with them. We came here for brunch the morning after. Logistically speaking they weren’t very good about figuring out the table situation for our big party although it was quite simple based on my assessment — especially since there was only 5 other people in this albeit small restaurant. Food i would say was pretty solid in terms of taste and portions. Again — the service was lacking — they overwhelmed when by my means an un busy restaurant. Had to ask multiple times for simple condiments — ketchup, salt, more coffee. Come for the food not the service.

All you can eat menu was fine. I got the blueberry pancakes-simple and sweet. Know that it’s cash only-I didn’t get the memo.

Labor Day morning unlimited breakfast. Excellent service. My build you own omelet was exactly what I was hungry for and a pleasure. Comfortable seating. No wait. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was because the condiments on the table were a little crusty with splatters — I suspect that had more to with it being a busy holiday weekend than anything health board worthy. I will come back!

My family of 5 went here for dinner last night. We highly enjoyed our appetizers and the duck fat fries were great. When it came to entrees, they were good but fell slightly short. I got the herb crusted chicken and I didn’t get a lot of herb flavor, and the chicken was a little tough to chew. The potatoes that came on the side were slightly undercooked. The turkey was slightly salty, and the portion of mahi mahi was tiny. Other than those main things, the rest of the food and the sides were good.

I love this little gem! A group of six of us went in July and we had a great time. We met the owner and he was extremely accommodating(he even let us jump on the wifi). Although this is a small restaurant(nestled next to a delicious ice cream shop) that can prob have 40 customers at a time, it is definitely worth making a reservation to enjoy all the unique menu options. Don’t sweat the layout of the restaurant, focus on the food and don’t forget to BYOB!

Completely disappointed in this restaurant. We had always wanted to give this place a try but never got around to it until last week when we went to have breakfast at their sister restaurant Georges. Georges had a long wait so we walked over to YB. No wait, we were thrilled! Menu looked similar to Georges so we both ordered an omelette. When the food came out it looked great! We then asked for some ketchup and this is where it all went south. The waiter brings us a bottle pf ketchup that is pretty much empty. I wasnt happy about it but decided to open the bottle anyway. Besides the entire bottlw being sticky and covered with who knows what, as I took the cap off the opening of the bottle and all inside the cap was covered with black nastiness. I call the waited over and tell him i need a new bottle. He takes the bottle to the back and grabs all the other ketchups and goes in the back. I knew exactly what he was doing. Sure enough he comes back with a bottle full and dripping wet and water bubbles in the ketchup. He tells me its a new bottle. I told him they were probably all like that. He said yea. So he lied and told me it was new. How disgusting! That is a total health violation. You cant mess around with cleanliness of food. Someone could get seriously ill. What if someone who was going thru cancer treatments came in to eat and already had a compromised immune system? They could become seriously ill from that. Ill never go back there again. Seriously, how hard is it to maintain a clean ketchup bottle!!!

After eating at George’s, we were excited to try the YB(younger brother) restaurant. Décor: modern. Too dark to see menus. One small dining room. Music distractingly loud. Crowd: light but filled in as evening went on. Service: About average. Nice though. Menu: somewhat limited. No kids selections. Food: I had the DDD Turkey and stuffing which I regret ordering. It was not really good. Too salty and stuffing was a bit greasy and way too heavy. Cranberry sauce was bland. My wife had crab cakes which she indicated were bland. They had a pesto cous cous which I liked. The duck fries were good, though their dipping sauces could have been better. Daughter had chicken which was overcooked and dry. BYOB.which is a good thing. I would give them another chance but just barely. Now George’s? That was really good. That’s a number of doors down. Maybe the YB should talk to the older brother?

Pros: my wife and I had the strip steak with mushrooms and duck fat fries and the pork chop with chorizo stuffing. Both were excellent! Can’t go wrong with duck fat fries! Pork chop was moist and cooked perfectly. Service was good. Cons: a little dark and hard to see but not a deal-breaker. The wait for the food was a little long but worth it in the end. Not a bad thing, but we initially thought this was a burger and salad joint according to other Unilocal reviews(maybe it’s their lunch menu?) Fortunately, it worked out great for us.

I have always found the food great, if you can see it. The room is very dark making it very hard to see the menu and food. Looking at the lights I see them turned up not on the table. Very dark areas led me to believe something is hiding. I have eating more than 18 times at YB with the pork chop being my go to most of the time. If you go bring a light to see the menu, but you will enjoy the food for sure. Don

Stopped in with three other people for brunch/lunch this past weekend. The food was really good. We were kind of all over the map too, one order of oatmeal(which was very well done!), one grilled chicken sandwich with duck fat fries(really really good), one chorizo scrambled eggs(good, but a bit light on chorizo), and one order of pancakes(solid). Everything was very tasty. My only knock would be that the service was a bit slow, but not that it mattered that much. I’d go back!

I tried YB for the first time this weekend, having frequented Cape May for 20 years and living in Manhattan. I can honestly say the food is delicious, creative and unpretentious, holding its own against the upscale restaurants in the town center. My fiancé and I had the Greek salad, the mac and cheese balls, the steak and fries and the turkey confit with cornbread and chorizo stuffing. Be careful to balance heavier items with lighter fare — there is flavorful fat in abundance here! The bread pudding with salted caramel sauce was also tasty. The décor could use a little work, not a huge place so make a reservation. Add this spot into your Cape May rotation if you are looking for nice dinner without going full-on Ebbitt Room or 410 Bank Street.

DONOT go to this place. First off, it’s cash only, which is odd considering the menu pricing and décor. We ordered the Herb crusted chicken for the entrée. There was Dijon mustard slathered atop the chicken breast which is insanely spicy and unbearable to eat, even after wiping the mustard off. Imagine spreading pure wasabi onto chicken and taking a bite of it. Dijon mustard should have a slight kick to it, not give you a burning sinus attack. The waitress was able to accommodate by preparing the chicken again, sans mustard spread. Her attitude was not the best seeming stand offing not sincere. As for the sides, we had raw vegetables-onions that were raw and sautéed potatoes, which were also less than stellar. The 2 stars are mostly for the duck fat fries, which were tender and flavorful, along with the seasonal vegetable flatbread — very well done. The flatbread tended to fall apart as there was too much cheese and toppings. Despite a disappointing entrée, the appetizers have earned this dining experience the 2 stars. Nice ambience but service and food was a miss.

Absolutely fantastic. This was my first meal in cape may and it set a very high bar for the restaurants here. The other Unilocalers rave about the duck fat fries — I did not think the flavor was anything hugely out of the ordinary, but the fries are substantially sized and very well fried. Get the small if you are less than four, unless you’re really really hungry! We got the sword fish tacos which I think are a not to miss! So crunchy and the fish is so very well seasoned! As for the entrees, we got the mahi mahi and the tuna. The tuna was fantastic but the couscous that went with the mahi mahi was perhaps the surprise highlight. Fantastic food, very fresh, great intimate yet casual vibe. Definitely stop for a meal!

YB was OK. There are many other places in Cape May I like to visit when I’m here(granted it’s usually off-season), so it’s tough to really blow me away. I was a fan of the ambiance(dark, intimate, quiet) and this place would be great for two people, but with my group of friends it felt a little awkward. Definitely more of a romantic spot. Small menu, foodie-esque choices — however, you get very little food for what you pay. Service was curt. I liked my dinner, the experience was okay, but it’s not the type of place I would keep on my list of «Musts» for when I return, especially with other places offering a more solid menu and BYOB options.

Went here for a nice dinner with my wife. Very very happy with our decision. I called around 4:30 and got a reservation for 6. We got there a little early and were seated right away. The waitress was friendly and helpful with the menu choices. We started off with the W.T.F appetizer, very good. Even my wife enjoyed it and she doesn’t like watermelon. For dinner I had the steak frites, it was a big rib eye over duck fries. Loved it, cooked good and didnt take long. They’re is no dessert menu but trust me. You’ll be to full to want it. Can’t think of anything I didn’t like.

We were deciding between this place and George’s place. After reviewing the menu, I definitely wanted to eat at YB’s. We realized after standing in the restaurant for 2 minutes that the two establishments are connected since the staff were wearing black t-shirts printed with George’s Place on them. It was 2pm on a weekday and we were immediately seated. Décor is simple modern; mostly Ikea furnishings. Luckily there was a spot in the back for us to park our stroller. If it were any busier it might have been difficult to maneuver in between the tables and chairs. There was only one server and busboy working at the time. The server managed to get to all the tables in a timely manner, was attentive and very polite. For our lunch, I ordered the sesame tuna salad and hubby had the Mahi Mahi BLT with duck fat fries. For some reason our order took a really long time and the server came to apologize about that. Not sure what happened but when I finally received my salad it was clear that it was sitting around for about 10 mins. The greens were overdressed plus it was wilted and warm — not how i like my salad but didn’t want to bother sending back since we waited a while. The dish was still redeemable since the dressing was tasty and the tuna portion generous and fresh. The Mahi Mahi BLT sounded good in concept but was actually difficult to eat as a sandwich. The cheesy sourdough bread is thick cut and the melted cheese on top makes it messy to hold, in addition all the inside elements were too slick to hold together. Adding fries to the sandwich instead of chips was $ 2. They don’t give you a lot but it was enough. The fries were yummy. Crispy on the outside and tender inside but they did not taste any different from regular french fries. We’ve had duck fat fries from APDC in Montréal and these were not even similar. Overall, quality of food was quite good but they could work on execution. Lunch prices are very reasonable for a beach front restaurant with interesting options; for that I give an extra star.

Best affordable eats fit for a foodie on a budget! We arrived at YB Eat Place around noon. The hostess/waitress was very kind to run over to George’s(their other restaurant) to make change for the parking meter(Yes, you need quarters to street park. ALSOCASHONLY(but who cares?)). The waitress was very friendly and made great recommendations. I eat mostly gluten-free so I was avoiding anything with grain. I heard great things about their fries cooked in duck fat, so we went those for an appetizer(and OMAGAH they were so worth it). They call them«Carbs» on the menu. The fries come in small or large — both portions are huge. Definitely worth it! For our main meal I had the spicy grilled cod(AMAZING) on a bed of greens topped with guacamole. The waitress offered a new honey mustard dressing they were trying out. It was very yum as well! The chef and owner is a 29 year old entrepreneur who worked under the likes of Stephan Starr in Philadelphia. He was also featured on the show«Chopped.» His brother owns George’s place down the street. Anyways, we will be returning on our next visit. I will be recommending this place to all my friends. What a great meal for an affordable price. Breakfast and Lunch($ 10-$ 15 range) and dinner($ 15-$ 20 range). UNBELIEVABLEFORTHEQUALITY!
