Mediocre sushi, poorly cut by a loud, sloppy drunk sushi chef. My girlfriend respectfully sent back a tuna appetizer that was a bit too fishy for her taste and the waitress handed it to the chef at the bar who loudly announced«THEYDON’T LIKEIT?! WELLIFTHEYDON’T WANTITWE’LLEATIT!» Guy was shouting at the TV throughout the meal. Granted it was Super Bowl Sunday but, if this is the kind of customer experience you can expect, this place won’t last a year. Go home, sushi chef, you’re drunk.

We have now been seated for almost 15 minutes and have not even been approached by a server. Not even to ask for drinks. Worst service! The only waitress seems annoyed by our presence and glances at us while simply walking by time after time.

Just went in for happy hour to get 1 roll as i was dining by myself. Well… they changed the happy hour to 50% off, great. But you need to buy 3 rolls. What a letdown. Horrible management decision. I guess I’m never going back. Just as the place was getting ok, they pull this. #needanewsushiplace

This is my new favorite local sushi spot I have been here 3 times in the past couple months the sushi is great good atmosphere and everyone who works there is positive and super friendly. I highly recommend it. The ex gf roll is the bomb and so is the Toro. Also my wife is not a fan of sushi but eats here.

Hands down the best sushi restaurant in La Costa! It’s located at the newly developed La Costa Town Square right in what I consider the Main Street of the Plaza. Jimmy is a great host and he always makes sure we have plenty of sake to pass around. I recommend the La Costa & Ex-Girlfriend specialty rolls. Even their Cali roll is worth ordering. Their happy hour is 50% off selected rolls. You can’t get a better deal with their quality of food & service. They have their 1 year anniversary party on Jan 23, 2016. I plan on getting their early and staying late.

Tasty sushi, friendly customer service, and great atmosphere! Our table of 2 ordered miso soup and spicy garlic edamame for starters. The two rolls we got were the«X-Girlfriend» and the«Baja Rainbow». All the food was delicious and came out quickly. We went on a Tuesday evening, and the nice waitress informed us that some of the menu items were 40% off! Not sure how often they do that, but it was a super good deal, especially with their generous portions and fresh fish. The weeknight we dined on was pretty low-key and relaxing — they had great music playing and sports on all the TV’s. Definitely one of my favorite sushi places in North County San Diego!

What a fantastic find… * Nice selection of sushi and other delicious items * Inside and outside dining * Friendly service * Exceptionally clean establishment * Fast service * Reasonably priced selections * Menu with photos of sushi(I always appreciate this) So glad I decided to stop in here. It’s been open for a while but just had not had the chance. Can’t wait to go back again and enjoy some more sushi.

The fish quality was excellent. The owner was really cool and friendly. I recommend the sashimi dinner with 12 pieces sashimi, tempura, miso soup and Karagge(fried chicken) for $ 20. The live fresh shrimp is fantastic. Very sweet and succulent. Don’t worry(it’s no longer alive) by time it is prepared. It starts off live for freshness. Overall, excellent addition to north county sushi scene.

This place is very close to where I live, so it is a convenient stop when I need a sushi fix. I am not a sushi snob, so perhaps I am not as picky as others would be about my sushi… but it meets my standards. When I come here alone I order the basic California Roll and Edamame, and have never been disappointed. The thing I don’t like is that they change the rolls that are 40% off for take-out each month during the Chef’s Happy Hour from 6pm-close… sometimes the California Roll is on there and sometimes it isn’t… it’s a bit expensive, so I tend not to come when the California Roll isn’t included in this special. When I eat here with friends I branch out and try other rolls, and I have enjoyed what I’ve tried so far. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, and the wait staff are friendly, and knowledgable about the rolls.

We tried Yamariki Sushi 3 times and sadly I cannot endorse this restaurant. While the food is okay, the service is been bad all 3 times. Tonight one of the servers tried to take the soy sauce from the table while we where eating. They forgot the edamame until I asked for it. I ordered an ice tea and had to ask for it. Unfortunate because the location is terrific in a the center in La Costa. Another thing I found troubling, nat’s. Yes, the little airborne creatures hovered around our table 2 out of the 3 visits. I’m guessing this speaks to the cleanness but I’m not an expert. We came in at about 8:45 against their closing time of 9:30 but they seemed to be in a rush to close almost from the moment we sat down. I hope they get their act together.

This place is great for the simple sushi fix. They’ve got a lot of the fancy rolls that might need a little bit of explanation. Some of them are worth it, and some of them aren’t. Some of them… well, just aren’t what you expected. I came and ordered a La Costa roll, and it was served in a steel martini glass kind of dish. Let’s just say, I was expecting the typical roll on a plate, but the martini glass made for a difficult way of eating the roll. In easier words, it was messy and I felt like I couldn’t use my chopsticks. The prime time to come here is between 4−6pm during their Happy Hour time. Everything if 40% off and the restaurant is pretty empty at that time which makes it nice. You and your date and get a simple meal and an early dinner for just about $ 30 bucks, depending on how much you can chow down.

What pretty sashimi! I will definitely go here again, as the fish was very fresh and delicious. Plus, they have Tamari so if you are sensitive or allergic to gluten they have your back(except you can’t drink the soup or eat the salad.) The only thing I would change is to make the pieces a little bigger because after eating the sushi lunch(without the soup or salad), I was still hungry.

Yup. Agree with my first review. I came back with my fiancée and had more freedom of choice this time. Everything we ordered was good, just like the first time. My favorite and usual go-to sushi is the mackerel. They have some of The Best mackerel I’ve had. We also had salmon, tuna, octopus, a stuffed jalapeño appetizer and a riceless roll. Again, All Very Good. I would recommend this restaurant to any true raw fish eaters, but also to the not-so-adventurous, as their cooked rolls, entrees, and foods are just as good. Enjoy!

My wife, friend and I came in here for Happy Hour just to check it out. It was kinda dead but a few people wandered in while we were there. We sat in the back main dining room though I wish we hadn’t. It was empty and the booth we were in had little space between me and the table so I felt like I was in a high-chair! Thankfully the food made up for it. We had a couple of no-rice rolls which I think is fantastic that they have those on the menu. They all tasted great minus the extra empty carbs. During happy hour, all rolls are 40% off but only rolls. Sashimi, entrees and even DRINKS are not on special.(remember back when happy hour meant drink specials too? sigh…) We enjoyed the food and loved it when all the sushi chefs yell goodbye at you when you leave. Nice touch!

The overall atmosphere of this restaurant is quite welcoming and nice. My friends had the lunch sushi roll special– 2 rolls for 11.99! I had the bento special with salmon teriyaki. It was a lot of food and it was very satisfying. There was no wait for lunch on a tuesday and we didnt have to wait for a long time for the food to come out. Everything tasted delicious, the server was nice and everything was very neat! Would come here again one day.

Oh how I wish this was a really great sushi restaurant as it is practically in my back yard, sadly this is not the case. The quality of the fish is very low, it literally had that fishy smell sushi gets as it ages. The servers here are also equally as bad, I ordered a beer and the server did not tilt the glass and poured into a flat cup. The beer then foamed up and rather than continuing to poor they let the beer sit on the counter for five minutes to let the head subside, then they poured the rest of the glass. Miso lobster bisque had two small pieces of lobster in it and was served in a gigantic cereal sized bowl. For what they are charging this is not a good value, it also seemed to be overkill on the miso. I guess if you have a problem poring beer the sushi making must be rocket science. For $ 100 for two people I would drive a little while and go to one of the many other choices in the area. Came here at 5:00 pm on 4÷20÷2015

The latest in the opening of the new shopping plaza in the neighborhood, Yamariki. They offer an interesting menu with various asian dishes. They have your basic teriyaki chicken, ramen and tempura. They also have a few Korean options. The sushi menu has a few interesting choices. However, one thing I noticed was that many of the sushi dishes came with crunchy topping. I guess some could say that adds to the texture or the taste. Unfortunately, I wasn’t a big fan. Some of the rolls seemed a bit pricy. They offer some of their rolls on their happy hour menu(half off), which runs until 9:30PM! One of the items is supposed to be brought out literally flaming. However, I was told that maybe they had a different chef in today, and the flaming sushi wasn’t going to happen today. The servers were all very friendly and helpful. They initially mixed up our dessert order and said they didn’t have the ice cream that my daughter wanted. Then later they said they had it and would bring it out. Not sure why, but maybe they couldn’t find it in the first place. Glad they corrected that! Overall, I was excited to hear about a new sushi place opening up nearby. The meals that we had were ok. Still trying to decide if the happy hour menu was truly a hit or miss. Either way, I’d go back just because the service was really good! Keep on Unilocal’n!
