We just returned from dinner with friends at Machu Picchu and were very impressed. The server(Mario) was attentive and engaging. Between us we ordered the lomo saltado, arroz con pollo, and the mixed seafood specialty(sorry that the name escapes me!), with a deep fried yucca appetizer. As one reviewer stated, the restaurant was tucked away in a mostly empty strip complex. Many years ago, we ate there when it was a pancake place! Except for the arroz con pollo(which was just OK but the green rice was flavorful), the food was very good. The mixed seafood entrée could have served 2 fairly easily as it was a very generous portion. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with the server, as well as the unrushed pleasure of being able to sit at our table and visit as long as we cared. We would definitely recommend this restaurant for a flavorful and unique ethnic food experience, and we hope to return with more friends!

We did not try the Peruvian food, but the breakfast and lunch items were terrific. The restaurant is in a poor location so hope they can make it. This is easily the best breakfast spot in Carmichael. UPDATE: uh oh, did they just close up? Went there this morning and the doors were locked. Please do not say so.

Great little place tucked away from the road. Walked in and a boy around the age of 11 welcomed & seated us right away. Looks like it is family owned & they made my son & I feel right at home. Service was on point! They got pretty busy but still were very personable and checked on us regularly. I love when a place refills water wt out you having to ask! Food was soooooooo yummy. My strawberry almond waffle was $ 7.25. It was cooked perfectly and the strawberries were fresh. My son ordered pancakes and couldn’t even eat them all which is crazy since he can put away a pizza or three! We both enjoyed the ceviche. Amazing food, personable and timely service. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would.

No matter what I order it is always amazing. Best breakfast in the area! The food is seasoned well and taste great. This place beats out Lumberjacks by a landslide. Waffles and pancakes are too good, and the country fried steak is to die for! Every item is seasoned and the flavor is kick’n!!! And the prices are just right! I highly recommend Waffle King to anyone traveling in the area.

It’s rare to find some good Peruvian food at a decent price. To top it off, you can order from either the Peruvian Menu or the Breakfast(American) menu. Love their pollo and lomo saltado. It’s a pleasure coming here. The new location is hiding but a hidden gem worth the stuff I need to unbutton my pants feeling.

My boyfriend and I love this place! The owners are so down to earth as well as their employees. I love feeling like I’m right at home when I go out, and they def make you feel that way. Have I not mentioned how amazing the food is? Its so amazing ! Especially there breakfast burritos, and their special salsa, its so addicting. Food is always hot right off of the grill. Anyways if your down to earth and love great food go here :) they are very passionate about their resturaunt and have great pride In what they do as they should :) simply wonderful! Keep it up y’all!

I have been here twice to eat. I went here to try the Peruvian food. Food was not very good. I had the lomo. Poor quality meat and over spiced to hide it. They also only serve chi cha in a bottle? I guess I could live with that but the bottled chi cha was also awful. I decided to give it a second chance when my aunt came to visit. This time I tried the Seco. Food again was awful. La Huaca in Roseville is much much better. It is more expensive but you get what you pay for in this case. If you have never had Peruvian food you might think its decent at the waffle king. I have never tried the breakfast items here so I can’t review that. If you are going for the Peruvian food save your soles and go somewhere else.

Great Peruvian food. I had the green spaghetti with bistec and Paul had the Arroz con Pollo with green rice. The bistec was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I would order it again and again. Paul’s was very good. Only down side is he hates green peas… so they ended up on my plate. This place used to be on Fulton Ave, we noticed they closed and wondered what happened. They relocated to Carmichael… closer to home. We will be back!

Super yummy breakfast food! A lot of delicious waffles to choose from. I recommend the ice cream waffle. The food portions are large and I would definitely come here again :)

I have been going here for years since they werw at their previous location on Fulton. I only come for the Peruvian cuisine and love their Aji de gallina as well as the lomo saltado. For an appetizer, I highly recommend thd canchitas, and of course don’t forget to ask for the recoto hot sauce. The recoto sauce is absolutely delicious, buf is so spicy it will truly test just how much you really like spicy food… wow! If you have not tried it, give the inca kola a shot. It is produced by coca cola, and definitely peruvian in origin. Expect friendly service in a very casual and laid back atkosphere. For what its worth, companions enjoyed their waffles. If you havebt tried peruvian give them a shot

Very good breakfast here. Spanish omelette was tasty; eggs cooked perfectly; waffle was delicious. Quick, friendly service and coffee refilled frequently. Ambiance is not what you get here, but good food is the key. The TV was a bit loud for us non football fans. Will return to try Peruvian menu soon.

Came here for dinner for the first time since they moved locations. Their restaurant is bigger, but the new location is in a somewhat shady neighborhood. It was pretty empty when we came even though it was typical dinner time. Service was great though. Unfortunately, it seems like the quality of the food has dramatically decreased along with the change of location. We had the ceviche mixto, lomo saltado and pollo saltado. The fish didn’t taste fresh so that was a huge letdown. The lomo and the pollo were nothing special and didn’t taste as good as I remembered them to be. Kinda overpriced too. Overall, I’m feeling pretty disappointed. I might come back for breakfast, but definitely not for the Peruvian food :(

Great Peruvian food, excellent service(very helpful, friendly and attentive) and comfortable restaurant. Don’t let the location turn you off, the parking lot was dark and the other food place and gas station are closed, so it looks a bit dark, but the food is so good that it’s a shame this place wasn’t more packed. I’m just visiting from the bay, but I hope they do great business because I’ll be back on my next trip. I had the aji de gallena. Delicious. We also ordered the bistec al pobre, lomo saltado, milhojas and the lucuma ice cream. All wonderful.

Shouldn’t have to ask to refill my coffee. O and don’t ever call ur self a waffle king unless your ready to back it up. Other wise the food is good

Ate here this morning and tried the waffle king breakfast. My husband and I both got combo 3 that came with their traditional waffle, it was so delicious. The food came fast, and the waitress was pleasant. The location is kind of hard to see from the street but was clean. The restaurant is a cross between a diner and Peru décor, and a bit bare, but again it was clean. Will come back to try the other waffle specialties and the Peruvian cuisine.

Our favorite Peruvian spot The fiancé and my usual orders: Lomo Saltado — yummy beef with rice, veggies, and french fries. Make sure you ask for their house spicy sauce!(I always have enough leftovers for lunch the next day) Breakfast combo 3. With ham. Whenever we don’t know what to eat, this is our goto spot. So we can go either way with breakfast, lunch, or dinner there.

The interior is nice and not«ghetto» as you can see in the pictures posted. The waiter was nice, the food came to us quickly, and it tasted great :) I’ve never tried their Peruvian food at their old location or their new location so this review is for their breakfast items :) I’ve had almost all their omelettes, fruit waffles, and French toast at some point and all of it was delish :)

My first experience with this restaurant was just a couple of days after they opened. I stopped by for lunch and ordered the fish ceviche. It was delicious, but there were no tortillas to go along with it. My husband and I stopped by for dinner tonight, and we were very pleased. We shared a giant bowl of chicken soup – delicious! The vegetables were still fresh, and the broth excellent. The chicken was nicely done, not overcooked. For the main dish we shared the Lomo Saltado, also excellent. The beef was very well-seasoned and tender. We loved the cilantro sauce, and the beans were perfection! We certainly will be back. The waiter, by the way, was excellent. I omitted one star because they don’t yet have a liquor license, so we couldn’t treat ourselves to a beer or glass of wine. But the waiter assures us that it will be coming in a week or so. And the wine, he promises will be from Chile!

If you want to try this place, do it soon. They not be here long. The location is terrible and the food is poor. The materials are bottom quality. The interior is, as my wife aptly put it, «Kind of ghetto.» The waitress was snotty and did not seem to know much English. I definitely suggest giving this place a miss. :(

Finally tried new location. I had only tried breakfast at the old location. My wife tried Lomo Saltado and I ordered the Mixed Ceviche. Both were very enjoyable. They have been open at the new location for only about a week. On Winding just before Manzanita behind what appears to be a fast food place that has closed. New landlords made them leave the Fulton Ave location. You can not go wrong with the waffle combo for breakfast or the Veggie Omelet with added green chilies. Glad they found a new location, just sorry that it is even farther away. The old Urbano’s Mexican Restaurant.
