Their game meats are some of the most interesting you’ll find. The experience is unique and your wont regret stopping bye for a burger or just a drink… Management makes a point to check in and make sure you’re enjoying the experience… Love this place!!!

Can you still call Twisted Roots a dive bar? Would you consider a bar & restaurant still a «dive bar» when now a chain and it’s deliberately designed to feel like a hole-in-a-wall? I don’t think so. Still prefer the original Twisted Roots in Deep Ellum but can’t argue with convenience. Why drive downtown when you can drive a few miles to the nearest outpost? Burgers are still decent. Staff is still quirky and fun. Instead of numbers, you get names of movie stars or characters. There’s some debate within the family whether Fuddruckers is better than Twisted Roots. I’d say that Fuddruckers takes the edge if you want just the basic hamburger in terms of cost-per-pound. But if you want the frills, the bells, and the whistle … then I’d say that Twisted Roots takes the edge. Take, for instance, the Freshman 15. So aptly named. Bacon. Egg. Smashed Fries. What more could you want. I ordered the Freshmen 15 just to avoid the temptation of ordering extra fries. Too bad it’s just as bad for your waist line. 4 Stars — Not the same as the original but good enough!

The good was great and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting a bit more of a «wild game» selection than just buffalo and boar(wild pig)!!! The meal was a bit pricey for two people… $ 38.00,(only one was a game burger), but again, it was extremely good. This was our first trip, so we asked the girl at the register for suggestions, she had none. Didn’t know much about the menu, and had a very bland personality as well. If they had more of a selection,(like I was under the impression of them having), I might go often… as it is, I could possibly go once every few months… because of the price and limited selection.

This is my favorite burger place, I used to be here once a week until I decided to go to school full time. My usual is the western, tried the spicy goat a couple of days ago, it was also lovely. I always get fries and fried green tomatoes on the side. I’ll make an arnie with whatever flavor lemonade they have at the time and the watermelon tea, the tea is my favorite drink out of anywhere. I have high standards for food, this place meets them. No complaints service wise. One time they gave me a boatload of fries because they were late outta the fryer. Watching them cook bacon is magical.

It was my first time coming here and I had pretty high expectations because of what I’d heard about this burger joint. The burgers, as good as they sound in the descriptions on the menu, tasted average and were very overpriced for what was served. I ordered fries with my burger and you can get peppercorn or chipotle ranch which was SOGOOD! The size of the orders are pretty big too so you will not leave feeling hungry. The orders are made fairly quickly and the employees are kind and efficient at what they do. The atmosphere was perfect for people 21 and older, not really for younger kids. I went on a Saturday night and it was pretty packed so finding a table was a bit difficult. I sat at one table and realized there was water all over the bottom of it. When I went to sit at another table, the same thing happened. Overall, it was an OK experience.

I must say, this is one of my favorite burger places around. Not to mention that it’s located in historic Downtown Carrollton, which I love as well. My husband, oldest son and I went in for lunch today. Now, we’ve been here before, but normally just order drinks from the bar with the occasional burger. I don’t normally go into«kitchen» area of the restaurant, but it is pretty awesome. Their menu is on display(and it’s pretty large so everyone can see) along with a TV showing different top sellers and«how it’s made» videos of their food. You also get to see into part of the back where all the magic happens. The person at the register who took our order seemed very nice. There is a sign by the register that states if you’d like your burger cooked well done(which is how I always do) to ask for it as they cook their burgers medium. We ordered 3 burgers(2 just plain bacon cheddar burgers and 1 Western) and an order of fries and our total came out to just about $ 28. They are a little pricey, however, I think the food is amazing. And the atmosphere is awesome, which for me, totally makes up for it. Once you’ve ordered, they give you a name card that they use to announce over their PA system once your order is ready. They are pretty cool names ranging from movie stars, sports players, celebrities, etc. I think my only issue with my lunch today was the wait. Now, ordering anything that’s well done does take a little longer than normally, which I understand. I guess in my mind I always think things should be faster than they usually are. But being on a time limit because it was my lunch hour from work, I’m constantly watching the clock and can be impatient. In reality, it probably really only took 10… maybe 15 mins for it to be done(and even then the fries were brought out to me because they were just a couple of mins out from being done when our burgers were). But aside from that, the staff is amazing. The manager on duty came by to check on us and ensure everything was great, as well as a couple of other employees. Everyone is always smiling and seems to really enjoy what they do every time I go there. All in all, you do NOT want to miss stopping by this place. If you do, you’ll regret it.

If i had to be a burger fan of ONE particular place this would be the place no matter which location I go to I absolutely fall like melted butter from the scrumptioness of their lotsa-shroom burger, but this location has a waitress named leslie at the bar and was very awesome and attentive way to go! Not to forget the shakes OMGOSH blissfull! went with a friend and each time we have great meal and a few beers from local areas! enjoy fellow gourmandizers! Happy girl!

I don’t get to eat Burgers like I used to, but I’m glad that Twisted Root is around to make sure the ones I have are really good. Been to this location three times, visited other locations in town before as well with similar experiences. Fries are decent. Onion rings could be a lot better, but they are what they are, basically toppings for other burgers on the menu. Pickle bar is a nice way to wait out your food with some tasty and free nibbles. The Dill is probably the best one on there though. Ranch gets salty fast and you either love bread and butter pickles or you don’t, so I am not a fan of those, but my wife loves them. The hot ones really didn’t do anything for me, other than being hot. Onto the burgers. You get your order in and you’re given a ticket with a celebrity name on it. Keep the celebrity in mind while you wait because you won’t strictly hear the name as it’s written. We had«Dr. Dre» and we were asked if we had a medical practitioner in the restaurant before I heard«Dre». It’s cute, but if I’m talking to someone or distracted by my phone, you might miss the joke. Wife ordered the Southern Comfort, which was really amazing. I had the Western burger minus the jalapenos. You can order the burgers any temperature, but you have to ask, otherwise they go to medium well, which, in my opinion is way too cooked for my taste. Only criticism of the burger itself was that I finished it and wanted more. Came out perfectly medium rare for both burgers. Restroom is full of Chuck Norris jokes, and I keep meaning to write one a political statement about Chuck Norris, but I don’t think they’d appreciate it. I’m ready to read some other jokes about celebrities who aren’t fear mongering right wing nutjobs honestly.

I came here at the recommendation of English tutor. It was pretty good, especially the bread & butter pickles. I had the mushrooms Swiss buger with fried egg. The egg was too over cooked. But the patty was just the way I like it. I wish they wouldn’t put sugar on the sweet potato chips.

This is my favorite burger place. I go here about once or twice a week. The burgers are tasty and I always customize my burger with 2 patties, fried eggs, swiss cheese, and fried onion strings and mayo. The atmosphere is awesome. When you place your order they give you a random name tag and they will call you by that name to pick up your burger when it’s finish cooking. Going to come here tomorrow been craving it lol. Oh if your trying to track macros or something, their burger patties do not have much fat in it. 7g of fat or so.

We picked this joint because of Unilocal and SO glad we did. As burger obsessed people on a business trip — we needed a fix. This place had a super cool vibe, and the restaurant had this sort of industrial look to it. Clean and bright, the tables are all self seating. We went back into the area where you order the food… after walking by the pickle bar(YES, a Pickle Bar!!!) The burgers can be made with beef, turkey or vegan OR game meat! But I am not that brave so I went with good old beef. I had the Verde Burger with onion rings. total Burger happiness. Oh AND they had a walnut root beer in their soda fountain machine which was self service. It was SO good. I am coming back to this place for SURE.

I have been to Twister Root several times, and in several different locations, but our last few trips were at this one. I remember loving Twisted Root but now that I’ve had better burgers elsewhere, I only dine there if I have to. That or maybe some things just change when you start becoming a chain. Their buns are so dense and heavy, and I’m not a huge fan of it. They do have great toppings and combinations, but it just doesn’t justify the price of a burger + fries + drink. Meat is pretty great and cooked well. The veggie patty isn’t too bad, but pairing a dense veggie patty with a dense bun makes for quite a try and heavy combination. I sometimes have the urge to get fried pickles, and then slap myself for it every time because they were just as salty as the last one I ordered. If I want fancy, overpriced burgers, I’d rather go to Hopdoddy. This location does have a pool table. So that’s nice.

I always love visiting this place while I am in town for many reasons! 1. Great customer service! Staff is always friendly and seem to like their jobs. That’s always a plus for me to see happy staff. 2. Quality of food! If you like options– this is a restaurant you will enjoy and appreciate. They have several unique burgers to choose from. And even if you don’t want any of those, you can always create your own burger. I’ve had the buffalo before and it’s definitely worth the extra $ 2 for a quality, lean meat. 3. Sides. Fried green beans are. I always order those, so I can’t tell you about the others. But I’m pretty confident they are just as good! 4. Desert. The ice cream a bit pricey, so I’ve been a little hesitant to try an $ 8 alcoholic shake… I always go to Twisted Root with the mind set that«I will order ice cream this time» but I am always way too full. 5. Location. I’ve only visited the downtown Carrollton location, but I like that there are other places to visit and shop at around this area. 6. Root beer. Get it. That’s all I have to say about that. In a nutshell, I’m always in the mood for this place!

This was my first time at Twisted Root Burger and I had an amazing time with friends. My friends have raved about this place for months so we decided to give it a try. It was a Sunday evening and there were many customers — we waited in line for almost 15 minutes to order. I ordered the Lots-a shroom burger with the straight-cut fries for less than $ 10! When you order, they give you a name card with a celebrity name or a character, so when your order is ready for pick-up, they call the name of the card. I only waited for 5−10ish minutes for my food. I dug in right away and the food was phenomenal. I also took advantage of the chipotle ketchup, which is now my favorite condiment! The fries were seasoned well and the burger was full of flavor. I love the ambience — will be back!

We really REALLY enjoyed our meal! Today was our first visit to any Twisted Root location. We parked in the little parking lot next to the building, and went into the entrance closest to it. We ordered at the bar because we didn’t know that the actual line was at the other entrance until we went to sit down. I had a build your own burger on a pretzel bun with bacon, cheddar cheese, fried onions, and a side of fried pickles. I have nothing at all negative to say about my burger. It was really really good. My boyfriend had the Big Tex and he said it was defiantly one of the top burgers he has had. I also had the peanut butter adult shake, it was YUMMY. The atmosphere is really neat, a kind of clean diver bar. The manager came over a couple times to check that everything was ok. When we ordered with the bartender, she was very helpful. This is some place I would come back to have a drink at, and I don’t typically drink while out. I will admit, having the adult shakes really adds to that. All and all we really enjoyed our visit, and are absolutely planning on coming back soon.

I love everything that is Texas-based. Because we do it right, y’all. Twisted Root is my favorite burger joint in Texas… INTHEWORLD! Call me a hipster, but I remember when the only Twisted Root location was the one in Dallas, snuggled in the middle of Deep Ellum. Driving to get Twisted Root was a real treat. Now it looks like they aren’t gonna make me work so hard, le sigh. Twisted Root is unique in that their meat game is strong: venison, elk, kangaroo, lamb, ostrich, duck, camel, beaver, rabbit, emu, boar, gator… I may have missed one or two. For us vegetarians, they offer salads and my favorite ever veggie black bean burger. It’s smothered in chickpea and coated in quinoa. It’s a game changer, y’all! Other eccentricities include their pickles and root beer. They have four flavors of pickles and it’s a self-serve pickle bar. There’s something for everyone: dill, bread and butter(YUCK, THAT’S NOWAYTOEAT A PICKLE!), ranch and atomic. Their house-made root beer usually comes in two flavors: regular and flavor of the week/month. I don’t know how often they change the flavoring, however, it’s often! I’ve tasted coconut root beer, cotton candy, watermelon… the possibilities are endless! The food is a la carte so it may seem somewhat pricey. Price shouldn’t matter when you are getting a quality meal with quality ingredients. They serve all Texas beef and support local produce. They offer a variety of burger toppings and side options: fried tomatoes, fried pickles, fried pork skins, TRYTHESWEETPOTATOCHIPSORFRIES! There is even dessert: custard shakes and ‘adult shakes’. This particular Twisted Root is rustic in style and conveniently located in Downtown Carrollton next to the DART station. You can play a game of pool and have a nice burger. Afterward you can walk around and visit the local antique shops and stop by BLOOMSCANDY&SODAPOPSHOP!

Awesome burgers ! I was in Dallas for work for a week and was recommended to come here for their burgers. Was I happy that I did ! They have a great pickle bar! Which Who doesn’t love pickles ! The bread and butter pickles were my favorite and they also had an interesting barrel of ranch pickles and a few more. I had the freshman 15 burger which included a fried egg on top. Yummy ! Was really One of the best burgers I’ve had in awhile. I also ordered this bourbon infused BBQ sauce that they make and it was so good that I bought one to take home. Thanks for the great experience and will be back if I’m in Dallas again

So I brought my girlfriend to her first Twisted Root experience, and while enjoying her burger she began to do a little dance saying how it was the best thing she’s ever had in America. Well the general manager(Lea) comes up to us after the meal saying that she was overjoyed at watching my girlfriend smiling and dancing while having her burger, so much so that the manager bought her an Oreo Shake! We had an awesome meal and ate till our stomachs exploded! This was one of the best food experiences ever! Thank you Lea for making our experience even greater than it was! We Love Twisted Root!
