I walked up to the door the other day, just to see if this place was still open, and it’s restaurant operation is now CLOSED! If you have wine pick ups you can still get the wine you paid for here. I never did have a great dining experience here every time I went. I’m not actually surprised it went out of business with the restaurant, as their target market was above what Carson City’s demographics had to offer, and the staffing was a problem to get qualified experiences staff to provide this level of dining experience. The concept would have done well enough in Napa, but not Carson City. There’s just not the available staff to hire that operates at the level need for this type of place, kitchen or front of the house. Too bad, there goes another Carson City restaurant and now they’re stuck in the lease of the building. They still do private events that they’ll cater, but with some of the reviews of that service, I’ll get some one else to cater my special event.

This place is AMAZING!!! We had a large group last Saturday and I am so impressed about everything! I don’t get it why they only have 3 stars — I guess people just like to complain about every little thing. I recommend them to any party — we had so much fun testing the oil and vinegar, the wine paired with delicious food — great conversations and a service that deserves 10+ stars.

The Tahoe Ridge is now only open for Groups events, wedding etc. DONOTBOOKYOUREVENTHERE. We brought in 40 people for lunch, booked it 6 months out with set menu. We arrived on time, tables were not set, they hadn’t even begun to cook our meal yet. 1 hour &30 min look later, they put lunch on the buffet line, completely different than what we ordered, all though the salad was good, there was not enough to go around, no water, no beverage, very cheap on the wine tasting, we felt horrible for our clients, they were promised a good meal and Tahoe Ridge did not deliver! Whatever happened to Howard who used to run the place? Patty Drake, Patty’s Tours

This used to be a favorite for their great menu, variety and freshness. I hesitated to write a 2 star review and went 3 times to make sure the experience wasn’t just a bad day. They have greatly reduced their menu to 1 sheet of paper with MANY favorites missing, they have cut their beverage list(no imported wines) and the prices are higher. There are no oil and vinegar tasting plates — a real treat in the past, and their own wine is still hit or miss. This might have worked at their old location, but with so many other great options in Carson City it is likely I will never choose to go here again.

Omg. Awful. Horrible service to begin with. It’s a wine place, she never even asked us if we wanted wine at all. I had to go find her. Steak sandwich special was burnt. See my pictures. Steak was burnt, bread was burnt. What a freaking mess that was. Never even checked on us. Not personable. Looked inconvenienced. Now I feel sick and need to go eat somewhere else. She never introduced herself, she’s a short blonde hair older lady. So disappointed. What a cute restaurant though. We were going to spend lots of money in wine, but nope. Never left her a tip either. She was perfunctory. Like a café waitress not a wine bistro. Who has a bistro and doesn’t even ask if we wanted wine. Will not return. Now to get the burnt taste out of my mouth. I’m sad as when we come to town, it’s a fun day and all we do is look for great places to eat. If my Cook,(it wasn’t a chef for sure), ever turned out food like this, I’d fire them on the spot. I am still actually pissed hours later.

This place is overpriced and the quality of food is awful. Not sure what everyone is raving about. I witnessed the server salt the food before she plated it. Ordered eggplant sandwich, patty melt, founder burger, chicken penne, garlic clams and the water appetizer. The burger and patty melt were burned so it was sour. The bread made it uncomfortable to eat. Over powered by garlic. Couldn’t eat there if you paid me. Menu was super confusing

The atrium is way too loud. Hang some fabric squares from the ceiling or on the wall to absorb some of that noise, We asked to be reseated in the dining room and our server didn’t miss a beat… thank you! The menu’s prices were expensive. Over $ 20 for pasta… I ordered the burger with the side salad. It was cooked well, but the potato roll smooshed into nonexistence when I still had burger to eat. No fries with the burger. Soup, salad or chips. The burger was cooked just fine, and it had grilled red onions on it, but it just was nothing special. If you want a great burger try Postal Café in Washoe Valley(it’s worth the wait). Dessert started at 6.95…

Wonderful food. We had a great time trying the olive oil and basalmic tasting apéritif. The sauteed filet of sole was outstanding.

With my 3 sisters in heart, enjoyed most items on happy hour 5 $ menu! HIGHLIGHTS: Carson Fries-amazing! Crawdad risotto-delightful! Garlic bread-melt in the mouth! Meatballs– yummy! Chicken pesto sliders tasty but better served on the garlic bread, toasted bread which came with most everything was not special. 2 glasses of wine each and lots of catching up, long time since the four of us together, fun fun afternoon!

Tahoe Ridge winery is a place I am going to try again in the future. I had such high hopes for the restaurant and it was decent but I felt that maybe I ordered the wrong items or caught them on a bad day. I have been a fan of their wines since they used to be in Genoa and really miss them at the candy dance. I wish they would make another return(hint hint). We stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon. They only had a handful of people working and were pretty busy so it made the service a little slow but the service was incredibly friendly and charming. The sweet lady behind the bar that was in charge of the pours was pretty busy so we had to wait a little bit to get service. We weren’t in a hurry though so we decided to get a table and try some lunch. Lunch is where The Bistro seemed to fall short. We ordered the steak sandwich, fried Southern tomatoes and a mushroom burger to go. The fried tomatoes were ok. Nothing to write home about and seemed to be similar to something I have made in my own kitchen before. They were red tomatoes so I was a little surprised. Was hoping to get some green tomatoes. The mustard sauce that they come with is pretty bland. The steak sandwich was good in my opinion but my friend thought there were far too many mushrooms on it. The tomato basil soup was meh… another recipe that tastes like something out of my kitchen. Tasted very tomato saucy and not like a nice soup. I would not order it again. I ordered a mushroom burger to go for dinner later that night. I requested it medium rare and it was definitely well done. That bummed me out. The toppings were good but the burger was pretty dry being that it was well done. Overall a very average experience. I will definitely try it again sometime and really hope that it improves a lot from this first experience.

We catered an event here and everything was outstanding. From the food, service to drinks! We had a wonderful time and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. If you are considering a venue for your next event, this such a diamond in the rough and the value is exceptional. Thank you Howard and staff!

Held our wedding reception here. They were really great! Very accommodating. Friendly. Good and drinks were good. Pesto chicken was a little dry but the tritip was amazing. Great place for a romantic date night or a swinging after party.

My wife and I arrived on a Sunday afternoon after they had closed for the day. We didn’t know it, as the door was unlocked. Not knowing they were shut we asked to be seated, and the woman that greeted us let us know that they were closed, but that they could get us a drink in the bar. I was feeling a bit cranky and so we took advantage of their offer to sit in the bar area. While there our server let us know that the kitchen was still working, as they had a party in the back that they were serving, but they could make us whatever we wanted. Wow, that was a great surprise, and we took advantage of it. We ordered two appetizers and two glasses of wine(after tasting), and enjoyed everything. Our visit was a serendipitous surprise, although we are sad that they’ve left the Carson Valley.

Service was absolutely terrible. Went the for lunch on a Monday. Almost empty. Took over twenty minutes to get a waitress and another 30+ minutes for the food. These people don’t get it. Stay away.

We came in for brunch on a Sunday; it wasn’t very crowded, and we sat in the atrium. Our server, Carla, came to take our orders, and then she never came back to our table the entire time we were there. The busser/runner brought our food, refilled waters, asked if everything was alright. He basically did Carla’s job for her. We sat for at least 10 minutes with napkins on plates(aka, we’re finished, we would like our check), and we finally had to ask the busser to let her know we needed our check. He brought the check, ran our card, and brought it back. Not really sure where Carla was or why she even works there, since she didn’t seem to care about customer service at all. So Carla received a very small tip, and the busser who did all the work got the real tip. Overall, poor customer service aside from the busser. Food was average to good. Will not be going back!

This business had many unique facets and I did not experience any of them but the wine tasting. Let me also say that this review is not based on what I believe the quality of the wine to be — after all I was in Napa yesterday. What I found was a very inviting establishment, walking distance to the State Assembly and numerous other government type of buildings, just outside of Old Town Carson City, NV. Definitely a lot of options to eat, for the local crowd. However this is the only winery in the whole county and only 1 of 4 in the State of Nevada. A sharp young man who not only poured the wines but provided me with a lot of local insight regarding the local wine industry. Turns out he’s been well schooled in both wine and food — right in Napa of all places. The first vineyards in Northern Nevada were planted roughly s dozen years ago. The grapes they grow, for the most part, are all hybrids in order to withstand the cold winters and the difference in temperature during the hot summer months when the days can climb over 100 degrees and down to the low 50s at night. Apparently the University of Nevada Reno(UNR) is a driving force developing Northern Nevada as a new American Wine Region. I tasted about a third of their menu. While I was not overly impressed I didn’t complain either. What I tasted was all locally sourced. The winery also sources a lot of unfermented grape juice from Lodi, CA. I did not try any of the CA sourced wine. All of their wine is made on site. Barrels are stored off site in a more temperature controlled environment. I mentioned earlier that there various different aspects to this business. I have to give another 5 star rating for their«marketplace» where numerous offerings of Balsamic Vinegar and Extra Virgin Olive Oils were available for tasting and purchase as were numerous gift items for the kitchen and entertaining. As far as the negative restaurant reviews, my guess is they are such a strong presence in a very crowded marketplace that their competitors are sending in the shills — but who knows? The people I met were all well groomed and personable like good service personnel should be. I say check it out for yourself if you find yourself in Northern Nevada and want a unique and pleasant winery experience. Next stop on The American Wine Trail is Utah.

Not bad. I had the blue cheese crusted New York steak which was done perfectly. It was a bit noisy in the atrium, I would suggest sitting inside where the sound is not bouncing off the glass ceiling and tile floor, for a bit quieter dining experience. One thing that keeps it from being a five star experience for me was the vegetables. I’m not a fan of reading«fresh farm-picked vegetables» on the menu and then getting squash. To me, squash is a cop-out vegetable. Technically, it’s not even a vegetable, let’s get that straight. Second, fresh«farm picked«vegetables(where else you’d get a vegetable I don’t know) conjures up visions of peas, carrots, tomatoes(I know, also not a vegetable) beans– anything but squash. Also, a minor point– I hate squash. Lastly, I think serving squash shows a complete lack of imagination. You worked so hard on that delicious Zinfandel wine sauce, give me another shot of your culinary skill and do some magic with a real vegetable. Topped it off with the chocolate brownie with the red wine reduction– it was all I could do to not ask for a piece of bread to mop up the sauce with. Definitely be back.

We live in Reno, but just happened to be checking out a music store in Carson, and about 50 feet away we saw this restaurant. So my son & I went in for lunch, it was a Monday around 12:30, the place was about half full. I had to find someone to ask if we seat ourselves, so they found a lady to come and seat us. They brought us water, then after being ignored for 10 minutes, I ask a waitress passing by(we we’re 7 feet from the kitchen) who are waitress is, she said she didn’t know, but would take our order. We order a bacon burger, and the blackjack burger. 15+ minutes later the waitress comes back and says there was a system glitch (translation, I forgot to put your order in the computer) and what did I order again? Reiterated a blackjack burger, waited 15+ more minutes, then we got up and left. Don’t know if the food was any good or not, but it was obvious there was no manager there during their lunch rush. Won’t bother to return, there are far to many great places in Reno to warrant a drive to Carson…
