Flores is a great little hole in the wall sit-down Mexican place. The chips and salsa are fresh. Every time I’ve gone the chips are light, hot, and perfectly salted. The salsa is a little heavy on the onions, but I like it that way. If you’re not an onion person, then it may turn you off. The menu has all your usual staples. I personally like to judge all my restaurant Mexican food places by the hard shell beef taco and cheese enchilada combo plate because those are my favorite items on any menu and it’s basic enough that I can easily compare it to every other place. First off, they don’t have a special lunch menu. This means the prices are a little high for lunch and include a dinner size portion of food(comes with a soup or salad). But the price isn’t outrageous at $ 10-$ 15 per person. It’s just disappointing if you’re expecting an $ 8 lunch special. The chicken soup starter has very large chunks of veggies and chicken. It’s a very basic Mexican chicken soup. It’s not my favorite and I would prefer to skip it. But it IS how my mom used to make it, so it’s not terrible. But it’s one of those dishes my mom would make when we didn’t have much in our fridge, so it’s nothing special. The salad is your basic iceberg lettuce, carrots, cucumber, and a house dressing — the same kind you’d expect at any american diner. The taco was by far my favorite on the plate. The meat is seasoned beautifully. The meat is juicy and full of flavor. The taco was also stuffed with all the usual fix-ins like cheese, lettuce, and tomato, and the shell was crisp and easy to bite into. It did have a lot of grease, but that didn’t turn me off. That meat was on point! The enchilada was average to many other legit places, which in my opinion is a win. For me, cheese enchiladas are either average or below average. That being, did I get what I expected and it hit the spot OR was I disappointed? It’s hard to get an above average cheese enchilada in my book; but it’s pretty easy to fall below the line. The red sauce had spice and flavor, but wasn’t spicy. They filled it with the perfect amount of cheese and when served, it was gooey and hot. The rice was also seasoned nicely and had a nice orangey-red color to it. The beans had a generous portion of cheese melted on top. The beans tasted very much like my family recipe so it didn’t disappoint. There aren’t very many sit-down Mexican restaurants in this area of Long Beach. This one is a good one to stop by if you’re looking for something without frills and traditionally Mexican.

My new favorite Mexican Restaraunt. I know it was going to be good becauae the chips were hot delicious so we’re the beans rice. I been to places where the chips were cold or bad. I ordered #7 Chicken Taco and Tamale. This place is now my favorite Mexican Restaraunt.

Ehhhhh… Food wasn’t horrible. Service wasn’t horrible. Place wasn’t horrible. Still want to come here. I came here on a Tuesday morning around 10. I wanted to try their rice and beans & lemonade. First the typical chips and salsa, salsa good. Chips bad. What is this, cardboard? Thinnest/tasteless chips I’ve ever had. Anyways, that wasn’t my issue with this place. This is: So I knew I didn’t want to wait for my bill because I wanted to leave as soon as I was done(I came here because I was 30 minutes early for work so I wanted to sit down and leave real fast). So I go up to the register to ask to pay my bill now & the lady says«hold on let me see how much the cook gives you.» Then I ask immediately if rice and beans are on their a la cart menus section. She then says, «yes but if the cook gives you a lot of food I have to charge you more.» WHAT?!! You have a set price and you stick to it & this isn’t a meat market. Y’all shouldn’t be weighing it and changing the price without telling me. I was very confused. I immediately told her I just want a small side and to give me the correct price. So 1) they decide how much you are going to pay &2) they are very expensive in my opinion. $ 8 for a small bowl of Albondigas.(It was very tiny. Two small meatballs). I didn’t end up ordering that. But for my very small side of rice and beans. Was $ 10. Very tiny. I believed them to be very overpriced and definitely taking whatever they can get out of you. But hey. Maybe it was an off day, maybe their business isn’t doing so well & they wanted to up the prices… but that ain’t my problem. I wouldn’t come back here. Not even if they paid me because the food wasn’t that great.

Tried the asada burrito(dry) and it was pretty yummy. I think wet would have been so much better. I’ve had the shrimp cocktail before and enjoyed it. This place is on my fave Mexi list.

My sweetheart and I were looking for a better option in breakfast then the basic pancake restaurant food chains out there. Girlfriend pointed out this place and it was empty, place needed a nice clean up from the previous nights karaōke session. Floor wasn’t all that clean. Anyhow, our server was attentive and was fast, she was the only person for all the restaurant. Crazy, but she made it work. Had the chili verde with huevos(eggs) which also came with your choice of tortilla with rice and beans. Beans were decent, the rice was a bit dry but did the trick. The chili verde was good but not great and not at all spicy. Hope to come back and try out their menudo soon.

Flores Café really surprised me by how good the food is and how nice the servers are. My wife works nearby and we met for lunch. The place is clean, they have a large menu, and they serve you very large platters. My wife ordered a shrimp quesadilla and I ordered a chile relleno. My plate came with 2 rellenos. They were delicious with a generous serving of rice and beans. My wife’s quesadilla was huge with lots of fresh shrimp. I know that their main business is the lunch crowd but I would also recommend this place for dinner if you are nearby. The restaurant has a charm of its own and I liked their Spanish décor. I cannot emphasize enough how friendly and attentive the service was. Check it out. It’s good.

Its just regular Mexican food, nothing really stands out about the place except it’s close to home and prices are reasonable. The meatball and chicken tortilla soups are always a hit or miss, sometimes their well seasoned and other times just watered down and flavorless. Rice, beans, chips, and salsa all pretty mediocre. The one thing I order here that is always consistent is the wet veggie burrito. It’s huge, filled with plenty veggies especially avocado, and lots of cheese, it’s pretty good. It’s also big enough for two people I always have half of it leftover.

This place has been around for some years. I used to come here regularly for the soft shell carne asada tacos. The meat was always seasoned and cooked just right, with little to no fat. Now I get the veggie or bean & cheese burrito(dry or wet). I love their chips and salsa. I can eat those all day. They offer really good prices on large catered pans of rice and beans. I ordered both for a baby shower last year. They will have your order done at the time you request and help you carry the hot trays to your car and place towels underneath. Can’t beat the service when they try hard!

{{ This is just a review of the FOOD only! A friend of mine bought me a green burrito and it was the BEST I’ve had ever. I’ve never been to the restaurant but I’ve eaten the food twice so far. Yummy! One gripe!!! I hate the fact that they put the salad Inside The Togo container with the hot burrito. I don’t care for warm salad. And if you need to reheat the burrito you have to remove the salad first or wind up with really hot salad! Honestly I’d rather not have any salad then to have it inside my container. So next time I’ll order mine with no salad. Also it come with a few more chips! I didn’t pay for the meal so I can not rate the price. But I’d definitely eat here again! … That’s it’s! That’s all folks!

Great little spot and quick service!!! We had a table of 7 and we were able to get separate checks with no problem. Chilaquiles and flautas were great!

My first time today, and my last. Although our orders came out from the kitchen quickly, the waitstaff was the worst. Noontime, lunch crowd, about 6 or 7 tables with diners. I counted four female waitresses hovering around the hostess stand, talking, their backs to the room. NEVER turn your back on your guests. I had to get up from our table and stand with my empty soda mug, hoping to attract someone, ANYONE’S attention. The hostess saw me and ignored me, continuing to chat with her co-workers. I stood in place a bit longer, then started to walk up to the group. One finally turned around and I waved my glass and returned to my table. I told her my colleague and I would like refills, which we finally got. The other shock was the price. $ 31.50 for two people! For a damn lunch?! And it was mediocre at best. And the worst thing is the smelly gas I’ve had all afternoon and night. I’m talking really rancid, methane-type, shake-your-head, eye-watering farts. I’m glad I live alone because they stink! I hope to Hell this clears my colon by tomorrow morning. No, no, no señor! Nunca! Never again. Adiós!

No one makes better enchiladas, beef or chicken tacos, or fried fish. This place is perfect for breakfast too, American and Mexican style. Before I discovered that i was allergic to avacados my favorite plate was the shrimp, lime, avacado and cucumber ceviche. the shrimp are cooked aolely by the acidity of the limes. This dish tastes absolutely fresh and will satisfy! I’ve been going here with my family for more than 10 years now and I’m glad to see they’re still around in Carson. Quite frankly one of my favorite places to get Mexican food in LA. Oh! And their prices are absolutely reasonable! You will be full halfway through your plate, I guarantee it!

The food is excellent and the portion sizes are very generous for the price. The service is amazingand efficient. They tag team the tables to make sure everything we needed was taken care of and they were very friendly. I will be back for the food, the service and maybe for the karaōke. However, the only downside is the utensils are a little on the flimsy side but at least they can be bent back into shape.

One of my goto lunch places in the area. Usually stop by here once a week with another coworker who practically comes here every day. Now I am at a point where the waitresses will recognize me and immediately know what to get: #15 with chili verde and sopa de albondigas. :) I’ve tried a few other things on the menu and they have all been pretty good. Usually runs me about $ 10-$ 11 for lunch which is standard for the quality and volume of food. Best to come right around noon or you might end up having to wait for some people to finish eating before you get to sit on the weekdays. Good to take family, friends, and coworkers.

Located in a nondescript strip mall on the corner of Carson and Wilmington. I decided to check this out on a random Friday because it’s close to home. It was empty during lunch time. Undaunted, I ordered the fish taco platter to-go and took a seat. The server was very friendly; service was not fast but I’ve experienced worse. The inside looked nice and spacious, bigger than what I always imagined based on the outside. When I got home I was instantly disappointed in the size of the fish portions – they were on the smallish side. Everything tasted good but I definitely paid more than what it was worth. At least I supported a local business, right? Maybe I’ll come back to dine in during karaōke but I don’t know when I’ll be back.

I came here because I wanted a take out lunch as I was working in the area. I had eaten here once previously years back, and seeing it was the same place, I was prepared to be underwhelmed, but I figured I would trust the Unilocal reviews. Actually, it was pretty good. I had a burrito, and the portions was large and the beef was very well flavored. I don’t know what they use for marinade, but it packed a lot of flavor. It was not the tenderest of beef, and it was a little overcooked for my taste, but I liked it. It came with a little salad, which was OK, and some chips, which were nice a fresh. After this trip, I would actually be OK, heading back there to eat, something I would not have done previously.

Yowza — you can get a gigantic«wet» carne asada burrito lunch here for $ 9.99(includes a small salad). Wet here means cheese and mole sauce over the burrito. Service is quick and friendly here, and that there is one big, good lunch.
