Went back today and the burger and fries were just phenomenal. Their food is always good, but today they knocked it out of the park. Service was great too. My husband’s catfish and fried okra was likewise superb. Love this place.

My girlfriend and I come here twice a month on Sunday’s. The service is always good and the prices are decent. Food is about average but the environment is nice and generally bustling until after 1 pm. Everyone is very friendly and is has that«small town vibe» to it. We throughly enjoy this place.

Friendly staff, clean dining room and restrooms, food just okay. It’s also a bit pricey. Portion sizes are big.

We are here from Arlington, TX for my son’s Power Lifting meet. I am so glad we came here and not to Ihop. We were greeted with a friendly smile and seated immediately. Our server was so nice and helped us choose our food since it was our first time. The food was flavorful and served quickly. The portions were large and we’ll worth the price. I would definitely recommend this café to others. If we ever pass through again, we will be back! Thanks again for a great experience!

I’ve only been here once so far and their breakfast was delicious. Probably the best in the area so no complaints there. They brought our food out to us in a very timely manner and I really enjoyed my biscuits and gravy. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because the restaurant itself and the staff could use a good cleaning up. The place is very outdated looking and their waitstaff could use a lesson on working a washer machine. Not only our server, but a few others that were seen walking around had large amounts of food and stains on their white shirts that looked to have been there for quite some time. I understand they are working hard and being a server can be a messy job but that’s a big turn off to see from the customer. I can only imagine how the stains/food got their in the first place.

Second time to eat here after several years. It’s still terrible! We ordered blueberry pancakes with eggs and chicken benedict. The food was bland. Eggs were cooked properly but the sauce on the benedict was indescribable. My companion asked me what it tasted like and the only word I could come up with was«yellow». His description of the bathroom sounded like he had just visited a haunted house. The manager was rumpled and looked like he had just rolled out of bed or maybe lives in his car. We are laughing at ourselves for eating here and hoping we don’t get sick.

I want to say I read all the bad reviews on this place and still decided to check it out and I’m happy I did. The food was amazing(I had the chicken fried bacon, sausage pancakes, grits and a biscuit). The service was great the waitress was even aware of a conversation my friend I were having and allowed us to continue and came back later to take our order. Food was brought out promptly and it was service with a smile and no long wait that I have seen repeatedly complained about in other reviews. I highly recommend visiting this place for breakfast.

Our sever Nancy was incredible. Having such a pleasant dining experience with a great server makes a person want to come back. The food was good. Prices reasonable. Variety decent. My negatives — Did not like walking through the door and watching the young man hosting paw the bowl part of the spoons he was sorting. His hands were all over the eating part of the silverware. Then, when leaving he just happened to be leaning against the building right in front of our truck smoking. Not sure of the building lay out, but if there is a back, it’s less tacky if smoke breaks are taken there. Then customers don’t have to walk through it.

This is your typical greasy spoon affair. The interior is unremarkable, the menu consists of every permutation of eggs, pork, and gravy you can imagine. I have the chicken eggs benedict, the eggs were poached surprisingly well. Contrary to a lot of other Unilocalers, I thought the service was the best part of the meal. Our waitress was polite and very attentive. 1431 Café is certainly a better alternative to the big chain restaurants across the street.

I was skeptical after reading all the bad reviews, but I thought this place was good for breakfast. It’s has a country diner atmosphere. The service was great. Our coffee was topped off frequently and our waitress was nice and accommodating. I had chicken and waffles which were good. The chicken breading could’ve use more salt, but with the cream gravy, butter and syrup I couldn’t complain. I tasted the biscuits and sausage gravy and it was fantastic!

Although we weren’t over the moon with the food we ordered, our service was great. My husband did not like his food, and just played with the baby while I ate my food. The waitress asked if there was a problem, and he tried to politely tell her he just wasn’t hungry, but she could tell he was just being kind, so she bought us deserts to go, and took his meal off our ticket. It was very kind of her. If we liked the breakfast we would go back, but perhaps we shall try lunch next time! Overall the environment was nice & clean, peaceful, prompt service, and great customer service.

After my husband worked really hard to convince me to try this Café again(first time was horrible and about 4 years ago) I reluctantly said okay. I really wish I would have stuck to my original NO. When we arrived we were greeted by a young lady and a much older man who was overly happy and so loud most people turned around to see who was walking in. We were quickly seated and waited for our waitress to come over and get our drink orders. It was about 15 minutes before she came over and while she tried to sound friendly she wouldn’t give us eye contact at all. As soon as our drinks came my husband tried to order the Chicken Fried Bacon and she told us she would be back to take our order. 10 minutes later she came back and we placed the order for the bacon and my husband asked a few questions about the menu. Then our waitress walked away and came back some time later(after the bacon was brought to the table) My husband ordered the sausage stuffed pancakes, I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken, the oldest son ordered pancakes and eggs and bacon and my youngest son ordered the grilled cheese. Lets talk about the taste of the food. The chicken fried bacon was seriously lacking in flavor. Salt and Pepper in the batter would have been a huge boost in the flavor but the concept was ok. However we sat there and discussed our next trip to Snook for the original Chicken Fried Bacon. Both son’s ate most of their meals so I take that as it was good. My Chicken Fried Chicken was once again lacking in flavor and the chicken was very very dry. The okra and mashed potatoes were great and that was about all that was eaten on my plate. Now onto my husband’s food. He ordered the sausage stuffed pancakes after the waitress swore up and down that it was amazing. Well lets say the only thing my husband ate was the egg’s that it came with. He had one small bite of the pancakes and spit it out. He said they were HORRIBLE. I even gave him some of my chicken and he wouldn’t even eat that because it was so bad. Once our food hit our table our waitress never came back to check on us or fill our drinks. We ended up asking another waitress for our check so that we could just get out of there. Lets just say after we left we went to Costco for a quick trip and then went and got something else to eat. We won’t be back because it was so bad. Yet another café that gives café’s a bad name.

Second time here and left disappointed. Service is usually adequate although sometimes slow. We’ve had the Eggs Benedict(country and chicken) both times and both times they have been good. The biscuits are probably the best thing about this place. This time both my wife and I had the side of potatoes which on both plates were completely charred. And not just one or two but the majority as you can see by the pictures. Must have got the bottom of the warming platter. The fact that the kitchen staff plated them, the plates made it out of the kitchen, and the waitress set them down in front of us when it was easy to see they should have never been served, screams laziness to me. Probably won’t be back.

We went here twice in one week. The first time, we sat there for about 15 minutes and not one person came to our table. We were starving(which is kind of why restaurants exist) so we left and gave our money to someone else. The second time we decided to give them another fair shot. And SAMETHING. Nobody came to our table. And both times it wasn’t busy. But at least we got to look at a bunch of un-bussed tables. Later.

We’ve been wanting to try this place but only seem to be by here in the evening when they are closed. Glad we made it for breakfast today! Pancakes were extra yummy. I always have them with eggs over medium sandwiched between them. No syrup, extra butter. My husband had the big breakfast and it was really big. Two pancakes, sausage gravy over a biscuit, two eggs, & three meats! Wow it is big! I really like when they serve the butter warm with the pancakes and they did. Otherwise it cools them off and I like my food hot. The bacon was ordered extra crispy and came out not so crispy — we ate it that way. Don’t like waiting for remakes! Also the biscuits and gravy were very good but they could have been a tad warmer. Food came out fast. All in all we will be back. Everything we saw looked delicious!

Breakfast review. Didn’t this place use to be railroad café or tracks? I can’t remember, but, what I do remember is that I didn’t like them back then, and, I’m not liking them now. We went in here for breakfast and left very disappointed. The staff are very friendly and nice. I liked that they had a mini x-mas tree up front by the check in. Adds to the«down home country feel». I ordered two eggs over medium with bacon, potatoes, biscuit and a side of sausage gravy. Coffee and water to drink. Coffee was good, but, refills were slow. My food came out in good time. No complaints there. Here’s a quick and dirty breakdown: Eggs: A little greasy, but done just right. Best thing on the plate. Bacon: Sad. Pitiful. Disgrace. Seriously. The best way to describe this bacon is to say it was soft fried hours earlier and placed in a chafing dish. It was cold, greasy, and, limp. Shudder. Potatoes: Fresh cut and fried up with peppers. Good flavor, but, cold. Not warm. Cold. Did the candle burn out under the chafing dish? Biscuit: Grands tastes better. Sausage gravy: Akin to Libby’s from a can. Man. I was really disappointed. The funny thing is no one asked us «how’s everything»? In fact after the food was delivered we never saw our waitress again until she dropped off the check. Place has potential, but, when you’re pouring it from a can, pre-frying, and probably placing everything in chafing dishes, you lose my vote. A generous two stars.

We have been wanting to find a good breakfast spot that wasn’t an IHOP, and 1431 café fits the bill for that nicely. The inside is very outdated, but what they lack in ambiance they make up for in tasty food. We started with coffee and each mug is different which I found charming. I collect coffee mugs myself, mostly from trips, so it was fun to look around and see a bunch of different ones and where they came from. Mine had a rose and my husbands was an old Motorola mug. The coffee was good and strong, I only wish they served it with real cream instead of those room temperature creamers. Ugh, I hate those things. For my meal I ordered a full stack of the blueberry pancakes that come with house made blueberry butter and syrup($ 7.29). They do have sugar free syrup upon request. They were delicious and left me totally full. The short stack would have been the perfect amount for me so I will keep that in mind next time. My husband went with the 3 meat egg scramble. You can choose between ham, bacon, sausage, or chorizo. It also comes with your choice of potatoes, grits, or sliced tomatoes and either toast, an English muffin, tortillas, or a biscuit for $ 9.19. He did grits and a biscuit with a side of sausage gravy and he left full as well. We both really enjoyed our food. Waffles are one of my favorite breakfast foods on the planet so I was happy to see that on their menu too. If they could make a blueberry one similar to those pancakes I would be here every Sunday morning. They also have 3 different types of French toast and the bananas foster one in particular was calling my name. We will be back soon for more breakfast items and possibly one day for lunch or dinner. They do serve breakfast all day which I love, and Unilocalers get a free dessert upon check in.
