The food was so disappointing, especially for the price. We had the Happy Family and the Moo Goo Gai Pan, both with fried rice, as carryout on Friday evening. Our order was ready quickly, but the food was more appropriate for a fast food drive-thru $ 5 meal: filling and edible, but that’s it. We won’t be back.

The food was truly awful. I now wish I had taken a picture of it. The so called«friend rice» was boiled rice with some food coloring. The«Lemon Chicken» was basically the sweet and sour chicken with lemon sauce. It seemed like they keep the food warmed up for a long time and bring it out when they have customers. This place used to be good, but now I will never be eating there again.

Was pleasantly surprised considering some of the negative reviews. We found the food to be very good. Here is what set these folks apart. They made an error on our order for delivery. We decided against calling them because it was an honest mistake. To our surprise within a half hour after they delivered the food their driver came back saying they made a mistake and apologized. They prepared what our order was for and dropped it off. They in addition gave us a credit for the bill which they did not have to. It speaks volumes for their integrity and we for certain will be an ongoing customer.

The whole experience was terrible. I have never had a bad experience when ordering Chinese but I won’t forget this. So, I ordered and after an hour and a half the food had not arrived. I call to cancel because the food must be cold and I am hungry. I call and they say what’s the big deal?!? The big deal is you robbed me and I never got the product. I ended up getting the refund but I was so disrespected and I spoke to two individuals who both dismissed my wanting to be refunded. It was a fiasco never ever ever evvvveeer again!

I would give negative starts if Unilocal let me. This place is HORRIBLE, save your time and money. Any OWNER that is willing to argue with my wife in front of guests and my kids probably should not be running a restaurant. Please people save your time and especially your money!

To be clear the 5 star rating is for Chinese style food in Cedar Park, TX. Normally, I prepare Chinese style food myself. Due to a medical issue, I am unable to cook for several weeks. So, I set out to find an acceptable take out substitute. My first try was a bust, but Hunan Chef, my second try on 23 Dec 2015 was a winner. The hot and sour soup was a bit thin, but had lots of tofu, bamboo shoots, and even some mushroom. The Kung Pao chicken was freshly prepared with a brown sauce with appealing flavor and medium spiciness. A minor complaint: bell pepper would’ve been better if cut into smaller pieces. The portion size was generous, and my wife who normally avoids spicy food, enjoyed the meal with me. For now, Hunan Chef is my go to spot for take out Chinese.

I had the sliced duck in ginger sauce. It was smoky and tender and delicious. It came with a bowl of soup, a cup of fried rice, and a chicken wing. Free refills on tea only. It cost me $ 12. The waitress kept my tea glass, and my meal came fast.

Consistently great! My husband and I have been going here for a few years now, and its always delicious. You know how sometimes, you try a place only to go back and its not the same? Not this place. Beef and broccoli are always spot on. Love the owners!

I saw this restaurant a few times and drove by because the outside of the buildings isnt very inviting. I took a chance and to my surprise they were busy and the food is pretty good. I will definitely be back.

We’ve been searching for a local Chinese food spot that is affordable and equally delicious. We found that with Hunan! We did carry-out and the food was still hot when it hit our kitchen table. The flavors are strong and the meats are cooked well. We sampled three different dishes and hands down the Beef In Garlic Sauce(the water chestnuts are fantastic!) was our favorite! Will be keeping this place in mind when we have a craving for Chinese food in the future!

«If only A-OK Chinese had been as A-OK as Hunan Chef» It’s funny that the 3 star rating on Unilocal!is designated A-OK, and there’s a local joint called A-OK Chinese that just went out of business. But, I digress. I ordered deliver from Hunan Chef the other night after an exhausting day, where preparing dinner was just not happening. I did a Unilocal search for Chinese, found Hunan Chef, and ordered FORDELIVERY. They told me 45 minutes and were there in 20. The Food was very much the same as I’ve experienced at similar americanized chinese food places. My wife stole my Lo Mein, so it must have been good, and the fried rice was pretty good. All in all, I’d have to say that I find myself much happier with this place than when I started writing. So A-OK 3 stars is getting bumped to 4.

Decided to give them a try after receiving a flyer on my door. I placed an order for delivery. Delivery time took about one hour. Paid $ 40 for 2 meals and noodles. Good was just ok, a lot of salt and sodium. Also the quantity is not proportioned well for what you pay. Think I’ll stick with my original place.

I’ve eaten here a few times before. Once, I dined in and two other times I have picked food up to go. Most recently, I went to dine in at the restaurant and had a coupon from the entertainment book. They now have an app on your phone and you can use many coupons from your phone. So, I took the phone in with me and just as we were ordering, I asked our waitress about it. She said she had not used one on the phone before, so she got the owner to give her instructions. The owner told me that they don’t take them on the phone, that you have to print them out. She was adamant that she could not take it from the phone because she did not have anything to scan it. I clicked on the online item and there was nothing to scan. There was only a number listed. The waitress even asked her if she could just write the number down but she was insistent that no, she has told entertainment no already. I said that I could go home and print it and she said ok. We stepped outside and decided to just go eat next store. The food here(in the past) has always been okay. The crab rangoons were just okay. The hot and sour soup was pretty good. I don’t remember anything else that we have ordered. So really, 3 stars for food and 1 star for service gave me the 2 stars.

I don’t really understand the low reviews. They’ve been in the same spot for 15 years and tonight I decided to ignore the Unilocal 3.5 stars. I’m glad I did. This is authentic. It’s real. If you’re a foo foo PF Changs lover you probably won’t like real Hunan food. The service was spot on(excellent). The iced tea was fresh. Food was served fast even during the dinner rush. The sweet and sour pork, crab rangoons, kung pao shrimp, and orange chicken –all cooked to perfection(as in authentic). Why I waited so long to visit here is beyond me. It’s definitely my new go to in Cedar Park.

So, I made the mistake of giving this place a second try… :/ This time we called in an order. When my husband got back in the car with it I immediately knew it was wrong by the number of containers, so he went right back inside. They had got our order mixed up. It took another 10 minute wait and everything was straightened out. But, there was absolutely no apology or even slight acknowledgment that they had messed up. Moo Goo Gai Pan: Completely FLAVORLESS and very dry. It looked right, but the dish just had absolutely no flavor at all. And, it had none of the typical sauce. Rangoons: Decent. They weren’t sweet, which is a huge plus. BUT, the sweet and sour sauce(?) that came with it had a very odd color and flavor, plus they had just pulled it out of the fridge. General Tso’s Chicken: Just okay. It was edible, but also lacking in flavor. It’s my husband’s favorite dish and it was on the lower end of versions he’s tried. All in all, I highly doubt we will go back. On a whim, when I’m running late and have nothing prepared for dinner, I might venture in for some take out. BUT, with the handful of other Chinese restaurants in the area I’m not inclined to.

We are looking for the best Chinese in the Cedar Park area, and I don’t think this is it. The lo mien I had was lukewarm and mushy. The soup was good and service fast. We spilled a soup and they replaced it immediately. Just wish the food was better!

The egg rolls and egg drop soup were 5 star. I thought the Kung pao was ok and the almond chicken was a little better than ok. My husband said that the staff was super friendly. We will definitely go back because it is convenient and the staff is friendly. I wish I could give them 3.5 stars.
