Food was not fresh or hot. For a buffet you would think they’d have it full of food but it was old food that look like it had been out for hours. Will not return

My fiancé and I opted to try Kung Fu Buffet on a random Sunday, despite its poor Unilocal review at 2.5 stars. We were in the mood for an Asian style buffet and Kung Fu happened to be nearby so we figured we might as well give it a shot. Since it is a buffet, our expectations weren’t extremely high and I think that’s where some of the poor reviews come from. You have to expect a certain type of quality when eating at a buffet since some of the food will not always be fresh and nothing is made to order. That being said, we were pleasantly surprised with Kung Fu. They had a wide variety of dishes ranging from general tsos, beef with broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, to shrimp, crawfish and ribs. The food was solid, especially for buffet style. The meat dishes weren’t dried out like you usually get with buffet. We went on a busy Sunday as well, which helped as they were constantly turning over the buffet trays and presenting fresh new dishes. They have some standard desserts, but also offer Blue Bell ice cream which was a plus. The service overall was great. Our water was refilled promptly when needed without having to ask and our check was given and processed shortly after we had finished. Overall, we had a very positive experience and will be coming back when we crave a good Chinese buffet.

My wife was recommended to this place from a friend and we have been looking to replace, «Teppanyaki Grill & Buffet» in MD, so we decided to try it. Although the selection is admittedly smaller… the buffet food we’re used to is always a little dry from being underneath the lamps. However, I started with the buffalo chicken and was very pleasantly surprised at how tender the chunks of chicken were. I next tried the Sweet & Sour chicken because that is usually not even good at the actual walk-in style Chinese restaurants. I was very delighted to find it was also moist. Now, the Sweet & Sour sauce is the thinner cheaper kind that most Chinese restaurants utilize now, but still, I was expecting that. The salmon they had was thick and juicy and my wife, who is a vegetarian, said there was a good enough selection for her. Now, the prices were fair for what was offered and overall, my family, especially my two girls, have wanted to go back again. I’m really not sure why there are reviews with wives telling«ladies» to «listen to their husbands» because that already is «other-worldly». Seriously, what wife does that… haha. Okay, now that my wife has hit me upside the head, I know that if you go to this buffet and don’t prepare yourself for a beautiful ritzy restaurant, but instead simply head out for a good selection of well-prepared Chinese food… I think you will feel your money was spent well. One thing I should note, was the lack of white rice. Now steamed white rice might have been available by request(I forgot to check), but only fried rice and noodles were available in the actual buffet.

The food was edible, but certain items where not particularly pleasant. We went for Sunday lunch and I don’t think everything was the correct temperature. For some places their flaws are part of their character. This place was not one of those places. I doubt we will return.

Nope. Is what my husband should say next time I suggest eating here. Correction… It IS what he said. I didn’t listen. Ladies, listen to your husband.

Don’t eat here you will regret. Food has been sitting for hours and no one seems to care. Place going to be shut down like the rest.

The food here is horrible. Poor quality food and poor preparation. Both times I have eaten here the staff has rushed me with the checks and both times avoided the table and refilling drinks. Great location, poor management. MSG heaven.

Food was fresh and tasted great. Labeling of food might have been better. Had what looked like onion rings but they weren’t. Otherwise the experience was terrific

This place is horrible. No one refilled my water glass no one said thank you, kiss my ass, or have a nice day. Ill never eat here again. What happened to treating customers with some gratitude?

This place is called Kung Fu Buffet because after you eat here, you will feel like Bruce Lee is re-enacting all the fight scenes from Enter the Dragon inside of your colon. When this place first opened, it was actually pretty decent. But as is the case with most Asian buffets, as time went on, they started cutting corners and phoning it in. It is now a greasy grimy shadow of its’ former self. I used to eat here voluntarily, then I kept eating here at the insistence of my children. After our last visit, I told my kids that we will never eat here again(see below). Eating here more than once makes a bold statement about yourself… basically that statement is that you like to gamble with your intestines, and have given up on health and wellness entirely. None of the food is good, but until recently, most was at least edible. The cooking instructions for most of the dishes are apparently: 1. Fill a wok or deep fryer with grease, and heat 2. Add other ingredients, such as chicken, noodles, or vegetables 3. Add more grease 4. Serve (Step 2 optional) The biggest problem with this place is that your colon will clench within 30 minutes of eating here. I always have to make a beeline for the potty before I pay my bill, or else make sure that wherever we are going next is only a short distance away. I ate here with my two little girls a couple weeks ago, and was in a hurry so we did not use the potty before we left. 10 minutes later we were stuck in the car in traffic, and my 8 yo daughter said, «Daddy, I have to poop!» At the same time, the first wave hit me. Soon I was in the throes of gastric distress myself. Luckily we made it home without necessitating a steam cleaning of the interior of our car. I won’t give this place the dreaded«1 star of death» because I know from past experience that this place is actually capable of serving decent food at affordable prices. I hope they turn it around. Until then, I am done with them.

The food here is awful. Awful enough that I took my children and left my family and friends to finish eating the crap that was on their plate. Never again. Never.

After many more visits here, I’m sad to report that my opinion has changed completely. The service is horrible at this buffet. The waitstaff stand around in conversation while there are empty glasses throughout. Since this is the only Chinese buffet in Cedar Park, it’s unfortunate that this one is so bad.

Unfortunately, the dining room was hotter than the food. When its a 100+ Texas summer day, and your customers are visibly sweating… a lot, perhaps its time to turn the A/C on. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either, typical chinese buffet. The tepid chicken was a refreshing contrast to the sweltering dining room, and I’m still amazed how the food can stay so cool in those hot buffet pans… ancient Chinese secret I guess.

Twice I have eaten there. Food not very fresh. My partner and I have been there twice now and on both occasions, after we ate there… stomach started bubbling… and well before long we were running for the border — I think you get the rest of the story. There aren’t really any great Chinese restaurants in Cedar Park. Not really anything but Mexican food which teeters on El Nasti to El Funky and lots of Chicken strip places. What happened to good diners? They should closed this nasty place down!

Cold food… every time. When this place first opened, it was okay. Now, the last 3 times we’ve gone we’ve been met with an attempt to sit 2 adults and 2 high chairs at a booth. It didn’t work the first time, it’s not ever going to work(they have plenty of tables with chairs). After getting food for my children and myself, I swallowed about 4 bites of food when I noticed an alarming trend — the food was cold and chewy. 45 minutes after opening and the food is cold. It was reminiscent of last nights food, microwaved and cooled again. We expressed this issue to the person who said he was the manager and he did nothing. Didn’t check the temperature of the food, didn’t apologize, nothing. We then asked how how he guarantees that the food on his buffet is the correct temperature. He said that it comes down to people who are more sensitive about the temperature of the food. I asked again. He gave me the same answer. A waitress came up to him and said something in a negative tone in another language. They proceeded to have a side conversation. I told him how that was rude to do that, especially in a language that not everyone can understand. The waitress gave me a dirty look and walked away. I then asked again about how they guarantee the food is a safe, appropriate and legal temperature. He the told me that the water in the table was steaming, so the food is hot. I asked him how he knew. If the food itself isn’t steaming, how does he know it’s hot? He gave me no answer. He never once mentioned a thermometer. In reflection from past experiences here, we don’t ever recall seeing food being temped with a thermometer, ever. Cold food and no procedure known by the manager of keeping food at a safe temperature. I can only encourage the public to draw their own conclusions. Dirty restaurant, cold food, no procedural safeguards. Save your money for some place else.

My family used to be big fans, and came a few times a month when it first opened. Once the food quality started suffering, we stopped going. Because my kids loved it, they have been begging to go back for a long time, and today I finally agreed. I wish I hadn’t. The host who sat us was incredibly rude and unwelcoming. The atmosphere felt more like an ER waiting area than a restaurant. You could have heard a pin drop, it was so eerily quiet. The service was fine, but the food was pretty gross. It was really good back in the day! I won’t be back; it’s sad that they have let it go like they have. They don’t seem to be listening to the reviews, or just don’t care. Either way, something has drastically changed!

I have lived in the Cedar Park area and eaten here multiple times. Is it good? The long and short of it–«sometimes». Today– absolutely not. I am still tasting it 6 hours later as my body struggles to digest my meal. The food items seemed to have been out under the warmers longer than they probably should have, and some items seemed dry, overcooked, and«aged» for lack of a better term. The service is as you would expect for a buffet, better in fact than some. I never have to ask for a refill. The staff has always made sure we get enough to drink and seems friendly enough. We arrived around 5:35PM. Nothing surprised me in terms of flavor or made me want to return to get more. I am not sure if there is new management, but the quality of the food has waned over the last year. Ant piles, cigarette butts, and a general lack of care for the front hedges, vegetation, and concrete near the front of the house leaves a bad first impression before entering the establishment. The Christmas decorations are still up over the host stand for God’s sake! I know these are«cheap eats» but the management could show a little more initiative for it’s clientele. I received my fortune cookie and opened it to find no fortune :(. This was a sign to me that it would probably be my last visit to the old Kung Fu buffet for me. I used to really like the place, but the food is truly a gamble sometimes, and I have lost one too many times feeling cheated by KFB. Tips from a past customer– improve the care and quality of some of the menu items. Clean up the front of your establishment– the lack of care reflects on what is most certainly behind the kitchen door. Remove the«clear jello» from the buffet line. Do I really need to explain this? I tasted it on a dare and it was awful. I give two stars for service alone– the waitress took care of us and there is potential for this place.

Don’t be fooled by the bad reviews, maybe those folks had TOO high expectations from a buffet. Great general taos chicken, Peking chicken, and hibachi chicken. The EGGFOOYUNGISAWESOME. Lo mein noodles and fried rice were great and for under 7 $ at lunch its unbeatable… Yes most buffets are ratholes and service is either slow or non existent, but kung fu ISTHEBESTBANGFORTHEBUCKINCEDARPARKFORASIANCUISINE. I laughed when the lady said in the previous review that one of the food bins were empty, guess that means pe0ple like it, and by the way the staff speaks English, SOIF they’re OUTOFSOMETHINGASKFORMORE U FOOL… kung fu pein sai Lao fao loi=good food

Came at 5pm on a Monday for dinner. None of the trays on the buffet were full of food and most everything I put on my plate was cold. There were 2 other tables of 2 while we were here. Don’t waste your money. This could be the worst Chinese buffet I’ve ever been to.
