Underwhelming. the service was great, and people were friendly, but the sandwich that you pay for is, well, undersized. Plus, the closest I can come in comparison is a brat bun. I have had better as far as subs go, but this place is not the worst place ever.

The food is always amazing. The service can sometimes be slow but they r really great people and its worth the wait. I love the crusty toasted bread and the fact that the sandwiches and always nice and meltly.

Way better than subway. I like that they have the unlimited combinations for drink machine. The meatball sub I had was superb. I previously also got the brisket but it seemed like it was too rich for me and you could easily split it with someone. Cute firehouse décor. Nice location near hobby lobby, home goods and fresh market !

Ordered Two Philly Steaks, For my wife I ordered it with all add ons except mustard and dill pickle. and added Cucumber and hot peppers. this was take out and when I got home she had non of the extra add ons she ordered. I ordered the large and did not want any add ons and asked to hold the dill pickle and no mustard. I ended up getting the hot peppers on mine that made it so hot for me I could not eat it even after I removed them. Do not think we will be back

Our favorite sub sandwich place. Have been to firehouse here in C.R., St. Charles, Missouri and one in Indiana. All were good.

Great subs, great service! I’m not the biggest sub fan out there since they all seem to be very similar however this spot stands out. Fresh food and I like the option of adding your desired sauces at the hot sauce bar.

Great subs a little pricey but you get more meat than at a Subway. The place is nicely decorated. Friendly service. I have been going there about twice a month and have never had a problem.

It took me awhile to get here after Firehouse Subs opened in CR several months ago. I wasn’t in a hurry after reading the original mixed(mostly negative) reviews. They evidently worked out the new store bugs and I can attest that they now put out a pretty darn good product. I like that they offer several fixed ingredient sandwiches that go together rather than playing the 20-questions game like other sub stores. I had the #9 Firehouse Hero with beef, ham and chicken. It came with a pickle spear(score) and was well topped. As opposed to other reviews, it isn’t at all undersized and a good value compared to their competition. I tried a couple different hot sauces from the sauce bar and found one I really liked. The large dining area was very clean and the employees greeted everyone as they walked in, a nice touch. Who ya gonna believe, the negative Nellies or my proven & highly trusted recommendation?

Worst chili I’ve ever had. Tomato flavored beans and hamburger bathed in oil. After eating it the inside of my mouth was coated in oil. I had to add tons of salt and hot sauce to eat it. Even the it tasted like canned tomato sauce. The meatball sub tasted exactly like Subway’s. Not bad but not really good.

They have good sandwiches, however their pace of service is absolutely horrid. They may have 6 people behind the counter but 5 are standing around. Imagine a road construction crew with 1 guy digging a hole and 5 people watching them and you have how Firehouse Subs makes a sandwich. However that being said, it is a good sandwich when you do get it.

As soon as we walked in I couldn’t breathe or see– yuk– Panini fumes. Completely took away my appetite. Place messy. Tables and chairs messy. Prices tooooo high for what the food is. Won’t be back. I hate to even give it one star.

When Firehouse Subs was preparing to open a few months ago it meant a new lunch option for me as it is within walking distance of where I work. Before the official opening they were conducting staff training with the manager standing at the front door handing out vouchers to passersby for a free medium sub combo special to be prepared by the trainees. Not often you get a free lunch so I took advantage. Upon entering you are greeted by several employees who bellow out«Welcome to Firehouse»; they don’t really make eye contact with you as they are busy working. It’s part of their brand and a way to acknowledge customers. I’m not sure what to make of that; I don’t need the recognition, I’m just in to grab a sub, but that’s okay. I know I would not enjoy as an employee, while busy making sandwiches, having to issue such a greeting every time I hear the door open. The place is brightly lit and the décor is a mix of antique and contemporary firefighting equipment which is kind of cool. I guess their founders were firemen. I don’t remember what sub I ordered that day; what I got was a delicious hot sub sandwich, but rather on the small side for the listed price. I knew then that I would not be eating there too often. In need of variety however I have gone back twice. The first time I tried the medium Steak & Cheese Sub which is $ 6.19(add 50 cents for mushrooms). The sub was again disappointingly small for the money and was a bit lacking in overall flavor. I could not taste the mushrooms, nor for that matter the sautéed peppers or onions(I held off on the mustard). The steak however, what there was of it, was of a decent quality which along with the melted provolone did taste quite good. If they had just built a larger sandwich on a longer bun I would have been satisfied. Their bread is good, but bread should not be remarkable. It was a skimpy sub. For an extra $ 2.29 I made it a «combo» which means you get a drink and small bag of chips which made the total $ 9.61. I was still hungry when I finished eating. I decided to give them another try about a month later because I had not had time to bring food from home and already lunched earlier that week at the nearby Wendy’s. This time I ordered the Firehouse Hero(roast beef, smoked turkey breast, honey ham, and provolone) for $ 6.39. I again made it a combo so I paid $ 9.29. This sandwich tasted very good and was quite flavorful, it was built a bit larger than the steak sub, but once again there is no getting around that short bun and even with the chips I was not as filled up as I would like to have been(I do have a big appetite). The staff is friendly and the manager is very involved in the process, bringing orders out to people(they are hot subs and if the place is busy, which it frequently is you will have to wait about ten minutes for your food). He follows up with you and asks if everything is good, to which you politely say ‘Yes’. I’m sure the small sandwiches are not his fault. They also have an array of about 40 bottles of different sauces to dress up your sandwiches; I didn’t try any of them, but it’s a nice touch. Bottom line is that although I rate the subs to be good to very good, they are too small, and because of that I didn’t feel that I got the value that I was seeking. For an extra $ 2.50 you can upgrade to a large sub; maybe that’s the way to go, of course at that point you’re at about twelve dollars for your meal and drink. I’ll still go to Firehouse on occasion to mix things up on my lunch break, but if I did not work nearby I would probably never go there. My first choice at lunch will still be the nearby Wendy’s. I would have subtracted one more star, but that would have been too harsh as Firehouse is not a bad place, but value for your dollar just is not there. Also, I was impressed with Firehouse’s friendly service and engaging manager, it is a well-run deli.

It’s a nice change of pace due to the fact that they have several types of hot sauces here. I’ve been to this place a few times down in Florida where it originated from. Hot sauce can really change the way you experience your meal and I think this what works best for this place. For fans of hot sauce such as myself if nice to try different bottles that you may not buy. The selection is decent enough to try something new each time, I do think their beef is the best option. If your looking for a new sandwich place they do a nice enough job.

Needing a quick meal I decided to stop in and check it out. I ordered the turkey cranberry sandwich. I was really excited to try it and was fairly hungry. It’s not that is was bad, it just lacked any real flavor and was kind of boring. Maybe I shouldn’t have picked one in the under 500 category.

Very welcoming and interesting atmosphere. Fountain drinks are many varieties that I haven’t found in stores and other restaurants(ie:diet vanilla coke! Yum!) staff friendly, asking how the sandwiches are. Will definitely come back!

This place smells weird as you walk in. Most likely from the steamer they use to steam the subs. They yell out«Welcome to Firehouse!» as you walk in. I ordered Beef Siracha sub as a combo and the cost was around $ 8.65 or so. The flavor was lacking, so I added my own siracha sauce to it. The steaming was a great touch. I must say I am taken back by the size. I’m still laughing about it. My Samsung Galaxy S3 with case on, is wider and longer than the sandwich itself. I’ll give them another chance to reconfirm my final thoughts since they just opened.

The veggie sandwich was even better than expected. The staff was super attentive & friendly. I only wish they had more vegetarian options.

Not terrible, but not great. Checked out this newly opened sandwich joint adjacent to the new Fresh Market where Kmart used to be located. Warmly and energetically welcomed upon entering the store, I was reminded of the familiar chorus of teenagers who shout«Welcome to Coldstone!». Firemen artifacts decorate the red and write walls and the place feels bright and clean. I explored the sandwich board as the cashier announced the big sellers. Calories per sandwich were prominately and unfortunately displayed. To get what I really wanted would have amounted to my whole days calorie allowance. I would eat half and take the rest home for lunch the next day. Their tagline is «steamed meat. «. I ordered the New Yorker which would include pastrami, swiss, mustard, and mayo on a toasted sub roll. No one else was there, so I expected a quick turn around. Nope. Took too long. As I waited, I checked it the hot sauce bar. Cool extra. Eventually, my sandwich showed up. It was significantly smaller than I had expected. Compared to nearby Capriotti’s I felt cheated. Not a good value. I ate half and was still hungry requiring me to open and eat my next day’s lunch. While average tasting, it paled in comparison to other local sandwich joints. Too bad, I’m always up for new favorites.
