The most legit Japanese resto that serves decent ramen place in all of Cerritos. I like the miso ramen best! It is the only thing I order when I come here. Haven’t had any issues with parking because I come here during the week at weird hours. Overall, I am a fan!

We eat at this hidden gem at least twice a month. I love the pork don and menchi katsu don. Flavored perfectly and not overpowered. I don’t add the combo but do order the seaweed salad. So delish! My husband orders the miso ramen and bonita onigiri. Ramen is the best around. Veggie tempura is with Japanese veggies… Very authentic! The tin foil fish is very good too! Service is quick and efficient! Prices are very cheap for quality of food you get! A must try… you won’t be disappointed!

This place is amazing! I love their hamburger steak. I took my mom to this place and she got the crab & egg and also the ten don. She didn’t want the rice so I had them put the tempura on the side. When the order came, she saw the rice and couldn’t help herself. She ended up finishing all of it! Will always come back here.

I really enjoyed the spicy miso ramen! It was delicious, not salty, or greasy at all. I was really impressed. The service isn’t amazing, but as long as I get my order in and my food arrives in a timely manner; everything is all good. I will continue eating here.

Easily 5 stars for what I think qualifies as authentic Japanese food. We absolutely love this place. The favorites: Uni Ikura Don, Roasted Pork Belly, Miso Ramen, Menchikatsu Don, ok… all of it — it’s ALL good!!! There are times where we eat here 2 days straight — no shame. Great service and cozy little place.

A cozy place to satisfy Japanese food cravings. The roasted pork don was delicious. I wished there was more pork and that the meat was a bit more tender, but overall a very solid dish. Try the slow boiled egg too! I would seriously go back just for that. The egg white was perfectly silky, yolk perfectly creamy, and the entire egg was embalmed in a light, refreshing sauce.

Always been looking for authentic Japanese cuisine that’s affordable and delicious, i think I’ve found one and it’s really close to home… have been here twice and both have been good experiences. Food and Service are great! I will definitely be coming back and if it stays the same, then it will become 5 Stars in my book !

This was my first time at Geko Tei. I ordered the steak and rice combo, and I was super happy with the order. It came with miso soup and salad. The meat was really tender and had great flavor. If it weren’t for the side salad, it would have been lacking balance since there wasn’t any other form of veggies(and I like my veggies). Geko Tei’s portions are perfect, in my opinion. I definitely appreciate a well portioned meal from restaurants since more often than not there is just way too much food. Overall, a happy first experience at Geko Tei(: I wish i had a photo to share!

Good japanese food. Got the miso ramen and felt that it was a little weird to have white onions in it. But, it gives a little crunch with the chewy noodles. Cant wait to come again and try out other items on the menu. Staff was very friendly and makes you feel welcome.

Their food is awesome. I’ve been going here for about 10x already and it had never failed me. Great ambience, music, servers and food.

Tucked in a tiny strip mall off South Street near the mall is Geko Tei, a tiny restaurant serving up Japanese comfort food. They have rice(don) bowls, ramen, charcoal grilled food, fried food, and steamed food. On the wall are the daily specials, usually featuring some sort of fish dish. The special this visit was monk fish liver or a bowl of spicy ramen noodles. Did I mention the place is tiny? Holds about 10 tables, and for the solo diners there’s a counter with about 10 chairs as well. Our friend Roger introduced us to this place about a year ago, and we decided to revisit this place on a Wednesday night. At 6:00pm, we were fortunate that it wasn’t busy yet. Karen ordered the shoyu(soy sauce based) ramen, while I decided on the fried chicken plate. They serve 2 types of fried chicken: Tori Kara-age, which is basic boneless fried chicken, and the Tori Nanban, a fried chicken with sweet vinegar sauce, served with their housemade tartar sauce. The server suggested the latter of the 2, saying it was more flavorful. The Tori Nanban was a great suggestion. There were 5 huge chunks of boneless chicken and the sauce was not your typical tartar sauce. It was creamy, and a hint of sweetness. The vinegar was also very subtle, and I couldn’t really tell they used any. The chicken was juicy inside, crunchy outside. My dish also came with a side of shredded lettuce, a house salad, served in a citrus-like vinegar dressing(a bit redundant), a bowl of miso soup, Japanese style potato salad, and rice. Karen’s ramen came with a decent strip of pork, pickled vegetables, seaweed(nori), mushroom fungus, and half a hard boiled egg. I’m not sure if there was a lot of noodles, as she finished her bowl. Typically, she’s not a big eater, and she finished her meal. For the heartier eater, I’d suggest ordering extra noodles. Overall a good meal, and pretty cheap. Total(before tax or tip) came to $ 19.00 and we left satisfied. The restaurant is located catty corner from the Cerritos mall, in the same strip mall of a Carl’s Jr and Sleep by Number store.

This is a really nice place. The atmosphere is nice and it’s really relaxing to come and eat here. The service is good as well. I have been there twice. The first time I ordered the uni don and ikura don. Uni tasted fresh and I was surprise at the portions they served for the price. Both times I ordered the grilled Saba. It’s honestly my favorite thing, Well for now until I try out stuff they have. My gf also ordered the spicy ramen. I’m honestly not really into ramen but it was pretty good. I would definitely come here for the ramen if I ever crave it, but for now I’m going to stick with the Saba.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! My husband and I come here all the time because it’s super close to our house and the food is consistently good. I usually get one of the rice bowls and hubby likes their miso ramen but I ventured out and got the grilled salmon and mushrooms. A must if you want something fresh and not as carby! I also love their agedashi tofu. It’s a small place and you put your name, party size, and table/bar preference. We’ve never really had to wait more than 15 minutes even on really busy days. Pretty sure I’ll have eaten the whole menu soon!

We thought this place has quality food at affordable prices. It’s a small place tucked away in a shopping center. Met a friend for dinner here last night and we were both stuffed sharing four items and the bill came out to $ 30. We loved everything we ordered! We had the the shishito peppers, agedashi tofu, hamachi jalapeño and salmon and mushroom combo. As mentioned in a few reviews, there is no AC. When we first got in, we were a little hesitant to even sit down. But we sat directly where the fan was aimed and it cooled down pretty quickly.

Came here for lunch today, and I loved it! Feels authentic and reminds me of restaurants in Japan. Loved the lunch special prices, great value. There were a good amount of people here for a Monday, and it’s cause of the awesome food and lunch special prices. I got the sukiyaki don, and loved it. The lunch special order came with a small bowl of green salad with a delicious sesame oil dressing ad well as miso soup and a small dish of fish. The rice bowl itself consisted of about 7 or 8 pieces of delicious sliced beef, two large pieces of tofu, grilled onions and green onions over rice and topped with delicious sukiyaki sauce. My dad got the grilled pork belly, which was good but a but dry and sliced into small pieces, which he wasn’t a fan of. He said he’ll try the roast pork bowl next time. Each order was around $ 10. This restaurant is located in same plaza as Carls Jr and Shipmates, don’t get confused like me and go to the plaza where Creamistry and Class 302 are. Plentiful parking and service was pretty good. I’ll be back for sure!

This is the only authentic Japanese dining within the city of Cerritos(I am not counting the ones that are own/run by Korean aka Kabuto). This is somewhat similar to Izakaya, but not quite close to it. It fits in between Japanese café to pub(as they do serve alcohol). The menu do have the usual usual stuff — tempura, pork cutlet, ramen, sashimi, beef/chicken teriyaki and such, and they do taste good. My favorite however, are the grilled fish(kinki) and whatever special they do have on board for that day. Pity that they don’t run on daily basis but it does have some hidden gems, like my favorite Monk Fish hot pot during winter time and simmered sole fish. I like their fried chicken nuggets too, as they did marinated and seasoned so it was flavorful and juicy. They use good rice too(tama-nishiki), much better than most of the restaurants that I been to. I hope the owner keeps the gold standard still. I hope the owner do add a daily lunch special course(like Gozen/Teisoku style) like my usual lunch to go place but the business is good and seems like local people are fine with the choices on the menu so it will not be added in the near future I assume. Besides that, this place have friendly service and reasonably priced, I will keep return again and again.

Okay so I’ve known this place existed for a long time. Drove by it, had dessert next door, hit up a bar in the same plaza… but I’ve never stopped in for a bite to eat. I finally tried this place out with some friends on a Friday night. I was worried they would be busy considering it was Friday night, but we were seated right away(even when half our party wasn’t here… ruh-oh). Anywho I wasn’t 100% that day(I was actually super stuffed from lunch earlier that day. lol), so I just got a simple Ten Don. Hubby got the Cold Udon. I actually really like my bowl — 3 pieces of shrimp, and veggies over rice. Simple, but yummy. Unfortunately he was left unsatisfied with his dish. He said the noodles were warm and not cold at all. And for the price, I didn’t think it was worth it. We also shared chicken karaage with the table. It was okay, but not memorable. Service was okay. They were friendly, but lacked in refilling our tables hot tea. And for some reason our appetizer came after our food. Oh well. Overall, I would give this place another shot. Maybe try their ramen next time…

This place flat out serves really good quality foods. My second time around to this place was even better. The Ramen here is surprisingly better than other places that specializes in Ramen. The Shoyu Ramen I tried was one of the best Shoyu Ramen I ever tasted. The flavor was just right and the noodle was very firm and chewy to the perfection. The Chasu they use is so tender that it’s hard to pick it up with chopsticks which was also very flavorful. Tori-Karaage and Pork Bowl I ordered were also really flavorful. I’m planning to try all of their menu. I’ll be back soon.

Loved it! Coworker and I had lunch here the other day. We arrived just before 12 and got the last table. This place is super small, so come early, or be prepared to wait! Very cute décor, very welcoming staff. Everything on the lunch menu looked amazing, it was hard not to order everything. Plus the prices are really reasonable, there weren’t many things on the menu that were over $ 10. We decided to order the Shishito Peppers to start, the assorted sashimi for me, and the grilled pork belly for her. Both of our lunches came with miso soup, rice, salad(choice of Yuzu or Sesame dressing) and a small dish of pickled veg. Food was out very quickly. The peppers were great and had an amazing sauce on them, sort of citrusy and salty. Loved it. I added a slow boiled egg to my rice and it was cooked perfectly. I love soft boiled eggs! Miso soup and pickled veggies were good. My sashimi was very fresh and clean tasting. It was a perfect lunch portion too, and only $ 12. Coworker said her grilled pork belly was wonderful. I want to come back soon. Their beef dishes sound great and quite a few people around us were eating ramen that looked wonderful, so I will definitely be trying that next time!

Yum yum YUM! My sister and I first came here for dinner after reading all the positive Unilocal reviews and all I can say is that I wish I had discovered this place sooner! I love their Uni Don because it’s a pretty good value for the amount of uni that you get! $ 16.50 for the large bowl and it’s stacked with yummy uni! We’re big fans of the hamachi jalapeño. She enjoys the sashimi salad and I am all about the uni. I’m curious to try their yakitori and ramen. I see other people ordering those dishes but I’m too obsessed with uni to not order the bowl. They give free refills on their miso which is unique and much appreciated. The service is attentive and friendly. I never feel rushed and they’re always pretty quick if you need something. Great little hidden gem in Cerritos!
