Even though it is busy we normally get seated fairly quickly. Never really a bad wait Their omelettes are huge and a very generous portion of home fries My favorite thing there: THEFRENCHTOAST ! It is the best French toast. Idk what it is but a must get every time !

watch your check, they con’t total it until you go to pay, easy for them to add charges for things you didn’t order. also the food isn’t what it used to be.

Came on a Friday for lunch on the way to Longwood Gardens, and called before to confirm they served breakfast all day– they said yes, and left it at that. Once we sat down, we learned that they serve a very limited breakfast menu all day(just French toast, omelettes, and maybe a couple other things). Not the corned beef hash, which we had gotten once before and really liked. We got a small fruit salad to share, and it was mostly honeydew and cantaloupe, and some mushy grapes. Not so good. I ordered the mushroom omelet, which was cheesy and pretty decent. Not great, but not bad. The potatoes it came with were actually pretty good, with crispy potato stuff. My mom got the gyro, and she said it was just okay. Overall a fairly blah meal. The service here was alright, the waitress was nice enough but I felt it was somewhat lacking. I doubt I’ll be back– I’d much rather try a different place.

The food is pretty standard here; nothing to go out of your way for. We visited on a Friday for a late breakfast on the way to Longwood Gardens after I called to ask if they served breakfast all day. I was looking forward to their corned beef hash which I remembered, from a few years back, was really good. But unfortunately they were serving only standard egg dishes, no corned beef hash available. So I went for a gyro. It was fresh and the pita was soft but the overall it was bland. Not garlicky or seasoned enough. I can get a better gyro from philly food trucks. My daughter had a mushroom cheese omelette. It was huge, served with a hefty portion of hash browned potatoes and toast. The potatoes had a good proportion of crispy browned crust necessary, in my op, for good breakfast potatoes, so thumbs up there. She liked it. Bottom line– next time I’ll head directly to Longwood and eat in their café.

Visited: Sunday — April 17, 2016 — 10:00AM I pointed the car toward Chester County, Pa to find a never-visited breakfast location. It was a beautiful, sunny, warm Sunday morning and fully expected many diners awaiting seating. My expectations were confirmed. I dropped off my lady friend at the entrance to submit our name for seating. The parking lot was full so I drove to the neighboring establishment across RT100 and parked at the near empty lot. She was waiting in the foyer when I returned. I dismissed myself for the restroom. When finished, I wound my way toward the foyer but happily found my lady friend seated. We waited perhaps 3 minutes in the noisy room until our server arrived. I ordered the Kennett Square Shiitake & Portobello Mushroom & Cheese Omelet —($ 8.95) which is the«Mushroom Capital of the world». I requested substituting for the home fries. She offered the options: applesauce, cottage cheese, sliced tomatoes. I chose the cottage cheese. I also requested«dry» rye and NOT the standard buttered toast. She noted accordingly. Anything else? Of course, black, hot coffee… thank you. Our food was delivered fairly quickly. The dry rye toast and cottage cheese were present as ordered. The omelet was mushroom-packed, hot, and abundantly cheesy. Disappointingly, the mushrooms exhibited the ashen color ANDTASTE typical of CANNED or processed mushrooms. The omelet lacked proper salting and seasoning; it was bland. A quick shake of salt and pepper did nothing. We were offered several coffee refills and asked if additional needs could be meet. We indicated our satisfaction. We alternated using the impeccably clean bathrooms. We received a hand-written check without total or tax. The server directed payment toward the cash register. We calculated the bill and placed the tip on the table. As we were leaving our seats, a bus person thanked us for coming then quickly proceeded to clear the table. NOTE: Hank’s only accepts CASH payment. In summary: the breakfast food is rated three-stars; the service and overall experience rates an additional one star. I will return but, knowing mushrooms won’t be a standout ingredient.

Best breakfast! Their French toast is so yummy. They make it on a French baget. I always order the French toast with ham. But they have so many gourmet French toast that are delicious but I like it simple. It’s first come first serve. Although they have a long line on the weekends it moves quickly. The staff are very friendly. Only thing is that they only take cash but they have an ATM if you don’t have any.

Went there with a friend for Breakfast on Sunday morning. They were a little slow starting because we were the first customers of the day at 7. But soon we were most happy with the food and service.

How can a renown breakfast restaurant NOT have cheddar cheese to put on your eggs? This trip was a star less disappointing. Place was dead but coffee refills were way too scarce for my liking — had to go up to the front once to get one. My lady was not happy about her western omelette. The tomatoes weren’t cooked down and the ingredients were stingy. Coffee is real good — when you get some.

One of the best breakfast places around. Even if your not that hungry, just the smells alone from this place can drive you crazy with anticipation for your meal. Small quaint place with home-style cooking served by a friendly staff. Make sure you have CASH, as they DONOT take plastic of any kind.

I’ve been here twice after going to Longwood Gardens and I really love this little place. I love the Christmas lights covering the outside, the old school diner feel, the great service and the tasty food. Mac-n-cheese and garlic bread, deliciously fattening. Looking forward to stopping back in next time I’m down that way.

My wife and I stopped here on our way to Longwood Gardens the other night, and we were very pleased. I had crab and spinach quiche and it was phenomenal. The atmosphere was old school diner, which I love. Awesome place, would definitely go back.

We usually go here for breakfast and it is always great. Yes there can be lines but they move fast. All the food is good but I am partial to the egg dishes. Service is friendly and efficient. I am sure if you go, you will like it.

Despite growing up less than 15 minutes from Hank’s, I had never been here before last weekend! I met two friends here for brunch around 10:30am on a Saturday. The parking lot is pretty tight, however somehow I managed to grab a spot, and so did my friends. The double parked cars concerned me when I first parked, but at some point I realized that the staff were parked on the lawn and I didn’t need to worry about it. Hank’s is bigger on the inside than I expected. We managed to get a table within 2 or 3 minutes, but that was because we agreed to sit at a 2-person table with an extra chair on it. The waitress took our order quickly, and our coffee cups($ 1.99) were quickly refilled throughout the meal. I ordered two eggs sunny side up with hashbrowns and bacon and rye bread($ 6.75). The waitstaff moved quickly and efficiently, but nobody rushed us when we stayed a bit longer to talk after we were finished eating. When we left, there was a long line of people waiting to sit down. They serve breakfast until 12pm every day, but all day on Sunday. Overall, a great diner-like place with cheap food and delicious breakfast. Two thumbs up!

Came at 11:45 for lunch and was given breakfast menus. We asked for lunch menus and was told lunch isn’t served till 12. The waitress let us stay at the table but the hostess came and asked us to wait outside till 12 for lunch to be served. Never have I been to a restaurant that unseated a customer to have them wait for lunch. Terrible customer service.

I grew up going to Hanks Place… among a few other local favorites… but it had admittedly been a while since we went back… until… Saturday! We arrived, and I was pleased to see that the same ridiculous waiting system was still in place. There’s no ‘list’ but instead an honor system of waiting in a line. They do a great job of managing this line though. We waited for about 10 minutes before we were shown to a nice cozy spot in the back… which wasn’t there the last time I was @ Hanks… so it had been a WHILE! I ordered a mushroom frittata with provolone cheese and asparagus. It came out very quickly which was my first red flag… it was essentially scrambled eggs that weren’t scrambled, with sauteed vegetables on top, with the cheese atop that… and then broiled to get the cheese crispy. It was good… but not the frittata experience I was hoping for. I have to take a star off for the shortcut frittata. Everything else was delicious though… so that was a huge plus. The servers were all on-point. One bus boy came to collect plates while we were all still eating… which happens a lot actually at a bunch of restaurants. It drives me crazy, but due to the recurring nature of this, I have to assume its fueled by a need to turn the tables. All in all, two thumbs up for Hanks! I’d be back. I’d just get something different.

Got french onion soup and a corned beef sandwich. Though it was a little busy the food came quick. Both were fresh and tasty. Basic diner food done well, which i love. Just wish i had room for some really nice looking pie.

Hanks is a diner. It’s ok. Years ago sometimes Andrew Wyeth would stop in to eat. He’s dead so why bother?

My friends and I, made a quick pix stop in this Dinner. Hank’s serves diner-style food, but a bit little less greasy, they have a good selection on their menu, I order the 10 oz. charbroiled chopped sirloin steak, made with choice lean hamburger and charbroiled to your liking, server with French fries or home fries, the meat patty charbroiled It’s a simple burger that just tastes incredible! And their fries have a good taste. The servers, they were very efficient, they were on top of the table with water and coffee. I will stop again if I near the area, to explorer more the menu.
