Reviewing completely based on fro-yo options and the store itself, this place is pretty nice! They offer a variety of flavors and toppings. Cocomero recently re-painted the walls and brought in new furniture. It feels a lot cozier with the new cushioned chairs and couches. The shop has always been well cleaned and the toppings seem to be changed regularly to assure that they’re fresh. While the flavors and atmosphere are nice, the shop does not offer sample cups like every other froyo place I have been to, I have found a couple of the employees to be a little less than friendly, and the place can get to be pretty loud. All in all, it’s a nice place to go for a sweet treat!

I want to preface that I love Cocomero. I went so many times last year but my first time this school year. I don’t know if they got new management or what because there’s also ugly new furniture– but my main issue is that they didn’t have sample cups… They didn’t have sample cups and then a worker repeatedly yelled at my friend for trying the yogurt out of the cup but what else was she supposed to do? She didn’t like that flavor and ended up throwing the huge cup away. Keep the samples behind the counter. It’s that simple. Most likely won’t be returning.

Easily my favorite self-serve froyo place! They have taro and green tea which are my two favorite flavors of anything really, and some pretty unique toppings including popping boba and azuki beans. Of course they have your more ‘standard’ toppings and flavors as well. The bubble tea here is also pretty good(once again, TARO), and I’ve come just for that when I’m not feeling froyo. Good ratio of boba to tea and the boba is always cooked nicely(not too mushy, not too hard). Ample seating upstairs and down, so it’s a great place to hang out with friends and enjoy froyo and bubble tea! Only 2 complaints for this place: They don’t let you sample the flavors(so you’re just gonna have to trust me when I say green tea and taro is the way to go). It seems kind of dirty(trash, sticky floors/tables, topping bar area is kind of sloppy) depending on what time of day you go and how busy it is. When I’m in the area, I always make it a point to stop by Cocomero!

I love cocomero! Their floors and counters have always been clean when I’ve visited. Their cashiers are friendly, and they have a great selection of frozen yogurt and toppings! They are also open pretty late, which is nice when you have a late night craving. :)

It hurts my face that there are no taster cups to sample… only because I would’ve liked to have tried a couple of samples before completely committing. Rationale was explained and, while I understand, can I not get a pass for being an adult?! Nonetheless, enjoyed my cupful of green tea, regular and mango concoction with sweet red beans and a pile ‘o fruit. All of the toppings appeared fresh and well cared for(very important, as I’ve been to other establishments that apparently serve a side of mold with the raspberries). Friendly service. Prices on par with similar establishments(although I’m still amazed I’m willing to pay THATMUCH for this sweet treat). It’s what you’d expect… but with options that appeal to the Asian palate. Wish Nebraska establishments would adopt some of those flavors and toppings.

Awesome flavors, but the toppings are very whatever. Their saving grace is that they have the cute waffle chips. And wow! Pleasantly surprised with their coffee. I wasn’t expecting much since it’s not a dedicated café, but wow, their coffee is insanely strong(you can choose between regular and strong– I chose strong). Bitter, of course, but wonderful. Finally, something to knock out the weakling brews nearby. The only bubble tea made with fruit instead of a fruit and powder mix is lychee, which is yummy but I wish more of the drinks were made with 100% fruit. Contrary to another reviewer, I got a lot of tapioca IMO. I don’t think there’s a *great* place for bubble tea in Champaign, but Coco is good. The only true downsides are that the interior design is bad and some kid thought it’d be funny to sneeze all over the machines and the staff did nothing about it. The design is not the worst I’ve seen… but it’s pretty ugly and pretty obvious that they didn’t hire a good designer. It’s the floor… And the kinds of light fixtures they have… Especially that awful LED tree… And how the counter and the area behind the counter look. The place doesn’t look put together. There’s no flow– only a big box with an ascetic layout and poor décor. You can see what the big end goal was… And it wasn’t reached. When I think of how Coco looks, I think of the yellow«you tried» star meme. They tried. But the ambience doesn’t detract from the food.
