definately better than subxay. the best part is the friendly service. the manager came out and chatted with the kids. he even handed us a yummy sauce. I was impressed by the spotless stacked high chairs.

Very nice staff that greets you when you walk in. Wasn’t crowded at all. Ordered 2 engineer subs to go!

Great concept, love that it helps our firemen who put their lives on the line on a daily basis. Always clean, always yummy. Love the Hook & Ladder!

Insanely long wait for the food every time. Doesn’t matter how busy they are. The subs are good, but not great… Not for the price. Not bad over all if you just want a sub, but there are better options for the money. And be sure to give yourself plenty of time, I have never gotten my order I under 20mins.

Went here the other day and ordered a sub combo meal. The food was just ok. Maybe a little more effort into making the sub would have made it better. Looked like it was just thrown together. Soda area was messy. Not sure how often they clean it but it could’ve used some attention. The rest of the place was clean. The TV by the soda machines could prob be moved somewhere easier to see for more people.

Great food. Better than Subway or Quiznos. Friendly service but SLOW! Lunchtime run takes a while to get food… but the wait is worth it.

I got the hook and ladder… fair amount of meet and not bad. Better than most sub chains IMO, but not a really great sub. Worth eating, not worth writing home about.

My girlfriend and I were out running errands, decided to bring her to a firehouse subs for her first time. We both found subs we were interested in which is good because I believe that firehouse is geared toward men’s subs(in my opinion) — I mean come on though it’s derived from a fire house! Anyway for around twenty dollars you and one other person will have two subs two drinks(medium is a large elsewhere) and a bag of chips. They have the cool drink machine with 50 flavors. One person said you don’t get much meat here, my sub had a lot of meat so I completely disagree. I’ll attach a few pictures. Overall it was good, the sub could have used a bit more bbq sauce, my girl friend really enjoyed hers, she basically made her own chicken sub and I ordered the number ten cheddar bbq brisket if I recall.

Four stars for a(chain) Sub shop. UnilocalIdiots are marking this place as a 1-star because they don’t have some hippie making their sandwich to the tune of some hipster music. That like like going to Wendy’s and giving a single star because your burger wasn’t cooked to order. Relax. I liked it better here than Potbelly.

This is the worst firehouse I have ever seen. Slow! I mean subs are usually a bit better than subway. But at least you can get your subway sub in about 3 minutes. And then meat was dry because they left it in steamer too long. Meanwhile manager is just walking around. Also agree with other poster who said they skimp on the meat. But it is a franchise so what can you expect.

I like Firehouse Subs from time to time. Sometimes I’m just not in the mood for that other sub place, so this is a nice option to have. Their sandwiches are quite tasty. My favorite has to be the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket. Thin slices of brisket with gooey cheese and BBQ sauce. Add onions and lettuce for free. You have your choice of white or wheat bread. They are both tasty. Pickle comes on the side with every sandwich. I like that they wrap it in a separate baggy so it doesn’t get your sandwich soggy. I love that they offer a Free Birthday Sub. Simply come on your birthday and show your drivers license. No coupon or email sign up necessary. Simple enough and greatly appreciated! The cashier was friendly. She was quick to take my order and even threw in an enthusiastic«Happy Birthday!» for me. So sweet, not sure if she was one of the owners? This place gets packed during lunch.

This location is not as good as the one in Fairfax Towne Center. It’s not bad, but they skimp on the meat here. The prices are high for what you’re getting in your sandwich. I think I may be spoiled by my huge Harris Teeter subs but I know a skimp sandwich when I see one! Also, the food is not always consistent. The steak and cheese can be bland, chicken can be a bit dry unless I add alot of mayo. Need to work on flavor a bit. Service is pretty fast even when it’s relatively busy on the weekdays, which is great if you’re in a rush. Employees are nice but sometimes I feel rushed and they seem annoyed if I don’t know what I want right away. My order have been correct each time so no problem there. They can definitely improve this restaurant. I wouldn’t even mind if service was a bit slower so they take their time on the subs making it even better. Maybe then I can update my review and give them higher stars!

The subs are very good but the food preparers /wait staff are terrible. They have managed to mess up every order I have made. I hate to mean, but they are incompetent and don’t seem to care at all about the business. I contacted their HQ and they seemed unconcerned about any dissatisfied customers. Every time I go inside, the place is dead. That apparently is going to be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

My only other experience with Firehouse Subs is with a location in Florida. That was my first experience and I was definitely impressed. Firehouse gives a different spin on a regular old sub and the experience is tasty. I’d easily say that Firehouse Subs are better than Subway and Quiznos combined, as far as subs go. The only downside is that this location was extremely smoky! But, my sub was good and I would definitely go back.

I had the 8 inch New Yorker and the sandwich was okay, but certainly nothing special. This was my first time eating at firehouse subs. The first thing that struck me when I opened my sub was that fact that it was small. The medium is 8 inches and they also have a 12 inch sub that is $ 2 more. I figured an 8 inch sub would be enough, it was not. The sub might have been 8 inches(maybe), but it was quite skinny and wasn’t packed with very much meat. Overall it was less filling than a subway 6 inch. I took my sub home so it was eaten 15 minutes after it was made. The sub had too much mayo and the bread was pretty soggy. Perhaps it wouldn’t have been soggy had I eaten it right away — hard to say. The place was clean and the kids working there were very nice.

I’ve heard good things about Firehouse Subs, and I agree that their subs are pretty good. I would pick here over Subway. except that their overall sub sizes are very small for the price. I was really surprised when our food came out, and if that small sub wasn’t enough for me, then it definitely wasn’t enough for my boyfriend. To me, it wasn’t worth the price– Potbelly’s or Quiznos is cheaper with bigger portions.

Nothing amazing for a sandwich shop. Quality of the sandwiches right in line with Subway. Just had the regular Hook and Ladder Sub on Wheat Bread and again maybe not quite average at best. Some grocery stores actually serve better subs at their deli counter. They bring the food to your table and that was nice. Will I go back, probably not just because it didn’t have that«wow factor». Had to try it once to see what everyone was raving about. Very clean inside this place. I guess a lot of folks like that typical combo 8 dollar sandwich with chips and a drink. Yeah, a Meh.

An optimistic 3-stars, but expecting better next time. When I try a Mexican place for the first time, I try the Carne Asada; Japanese: Teriyaki. East Coast sandwiches: Steak and Cheese. Friends have raved about Firehouse Subs, when one opened in Chantilly I spent my Saturday Lunch vote on taking the fam there — met some great friends for lunch there to pass some great time talking and telling stories. Steak and cheese ‘Fully Involved’ was still pretty bland — added some hot sauce to bring out the flavor. Bread was soggy after just a few minutes. Sandwich was piping hot though — I liked that. Veggies were clearly fresh and cut to my liking: large and rough-cut. The steak was well-trimmed, no mess, but bland. The kids’ meatball 3-inch was well received: per that sandwiches’ consumer, the bread was too dry, but the meatballs were fantastic, a sure hit. The turkey and cheese its consumer stated the cheese was tasty, the bread not so much. The fourth member of the party had the Italian and loved it. The new Coke machines as always were a hit. The donation options to the Firehouse Subs Foundation(I haven’t looked up their overhead/efficiency ratings) is welcome. You can donate your change, round up, or make a donation of your choice. Like that. A great mural depicting the Discovery and a Fairfax Co. Engine Company is nicely done and ties in the chain to the local scene. The selection of hot sauces made for a fun game — each of the three girls got a chance to out-burn me with an escalating pick of sauces — fun and I see the tie-in to the theme of the store but not necessarily compatiable with East Coast sandwiches. I’ll be back, but expecting better next time.

Keep your expectations in check; it’s yet another sandwich shop chain. I’m a tri-state transplant so what I consider a good sandwich is a lot different than everyone else who’s not from that area. That being said, the sandwiches are good, nothing to write home about. The bread taste decent and the flavor of the meats are decent tasting as well. I like it better than Subway. Prices in my opinion are on the high side, in the tri-state area you get a LOT more bang for your buck like ½ to 1 pound of meat on your sandwich vs. 2 or 3 slices that these chain sandwich shops dish out.(Oh how I miss NYC!) I only hit up places like this with my co-workers for lunch during the work week, outside of that, I never go. Sorry for such a lame review but it’s really nothing that spectacular, just another Subway knockoff and more expensive.

We’ve given it two shots this week. Simply because we loved them when we lived in Charlotte… ehh…not so much. Our toasted wheat bread was soggy. They put all the hunks of meat in the middle vs, spreading it out so literally 1⁄3 of the sandwich was just wet bread. We are going to give them a few weeks to get it together and then hopefully I can update my review. You should’ve seen the crazy looks they gave me when I took the store photos to help out their Unilocal page lol. Keep practicing guys! You are too close by for us not to love you… so make us love you!
