Great food. Nice atmosphere, though not the most comfortable restaurant. Service tends to be good. Their catering service is also on point. Timely delivery, nice set-up, and top quality food. The restaurant tends to be quite busy, so be prepared for that, particularly if you’re on a limited lunch period. But they also stock the UNC campus convenience stores and have a mini-restaurant in Lenoir Main Street.

A staple of Chapel Hill: inexpensive, quick, tasty, and ostensibly authentic Mediterranean. Their gyros are delicious and a fail-proof option for those unwilling to take more exotic-sounding risks. Good, but a little pricey, baklava. Their chicken salad is refreshing and yummy. I’ve only ordered something once that didn’t taste great; it was a lamb pizza that was seasoned unconventionally, with a lot of odd spices and not a lot of other flavor.

One of my favorite places to go in Chapel Hill. When you walk in you can smell all the flavors in the air. I typically order the gyro, but this past time I ordered the chicken shawarma which was delicious. The only sad part was that it wasn’t wrapped in a pits like the gyro, rather a white tortilla like a burrito, but it was still scrumptious. I also ordered a kibbi, a falafel, pistachio baklava, and a cannoli to top it off. The most interesting was the kibbi that reminded me of a falafel but with ground beef. I still prefer falafels over kibbi, but if I were to choose between the desserts, I don’t think I could decide. Baklava is always good, but the cannoli had a nice crunch and a little more subtle sweetness as opposed to baklavas overwhelming sweetness. I am always satisfied whenever I eat here. It has always been one of my favorite places to eat in Chapel Hill.

Love the food and the market. It can get super crazy and people don’t understand where to order. If it’s cranking and there is a line, I would recommend just going somewhere else bc you’ll get frustrated fast by the idiots walking around going«I don’t know what I’m doing» other than that staff is cool and friendly and the food is delish. Also the market will take requests of things from over seas that you would like to see there. Go in and get a Bueno.

Everything is on point here. The chicken kabobs are tender on the inside, the sides portions are generous, and everything is super affordable. We stop by here every time we are in Chapel Hill.

Mediterranean Deli is my go to place for good ol’ mediterranean food! I always get their chicken platter, with rice, pita, and hummus. Their rice is extremely well made and always is a pleasure to eat. The food is always fresh and the prices are reasonable, and the portions are amazing as well. I really enjoy the sauce bar that they have to offer in the restaurant, with tsatziki(?) sauce that is flavorful and all-you-can-eat olives that I always tend to eat a lot of. Most definitely excited to go visit this place again in the future and try out more of their foods! I have heard great things about their gyros and other combination platters. Most definitely recommend for those on Franklin street looking for something to eat! The only reason why I didn’t give Med Deli a 5-star rating is because of a couple of times where I have engaged with«bad attitude» cashiers. I don’t know if they’ve changed, but there was one particular lady who was awfully rude to my family and I when ordering. Hopefully, that’s been resolved in the past couple of months.

Love it! Its a great place to grab a quick but healthy lunch. Lots of students and overall friendly customers create a welcoming ambiance. Most of all the proportion and pricing is perfect for any college kid like me. Recommend to anyone in the area.

Definitely one of my favorite places to eat at in Chapel Hill. If you ask students where to eat, many of them will include Med Deli in their list of options. When you first walk in, you may be intimidated by the glass case filled with huge, nicely plated dishes. Any of the vegetarian ones can be subbed for the tabbouli and hummus if you get a platter! I love the avocado salad and always get it if it’s available that day. Typically, I choose the falafel here and can’t bring myself to stray often. Then, I advise that you get a lot of tzatziki sauce to eat your food with, because theirs is so good. Sometimes, I like to buy packs of pita bread to take home and eat with hummus/baba ganoush. The platters are huge, so you will leave full and happy if you get these– maybe with a little bit of leftovers!

This place has such good reviews I had to try it! Quick walk from Carolina Inn where I was staying at. I meant to order the chicken souvlaki platter but got the sandwich instead. It was still amazing! The chicken was tender and juicy and the tzatziki was awesome. Would love to come here again and try other things like the hummus and Greek salad!

Oh, Med Deli, I miss you and your free condiments station. I miss your appropriately surly employees. I miss pretending I was only going to order a light lunch, and leaving with pints and quarts of deli food for«later.» I miss your pita station, and pretending that gluten-free pita was just as good as regular, and then just eating regular pita, because who the hell am I kidding? I even miss your kinda weird bathroom. Do you miss me? Check yes or no. Luv, E.

Very very good Med. food at decent prices with a huge selection of salads, cooked foods and deli items. I have been there many times always enjoyed everything I had. Their chick peas with spinach is a knock out and anything with lamb also very good.

The food and ambience and the price are all great! I have been here several times in the past few years. Food: portion is big and all the side dishes are delicious, especially the kebobs Ambience: there is a rose on every single wooden table, everyone is very nice although you don’t have a «waiter.» Service: you go in and order food at the counter, then you get a number that you put on your table, then a food delivery guy gives you your food at the table and you take the plates to the plate area. We get our own water and unlimited free pickled foods. Parking: not very easy to find free parking on the weekdays

If my wife suggests Mediterranean Deli, I get so excited. They have so many great options. I usually order a three sides platter so I can enjoy different vegan items. There are two sides that are must-haves: the scallion hummus which takes me back to scallion cream cheese on Long Island and the pomegranate mohammara. The mohammara is nuts and pomegranates made into a delicious hummus-like dip. Fantastic. Some tips for the Mediterranean Deli experience: –Don’t order the scallion hummus to go, as fantastic as it is. Their hummus to-go container is very flimsy and breaks easily. –Avoid going at any time that is usually busy. This means especially Friday and Saturday nights during the school year. I once made the mistake of going at 6PM on the Saturday of graduation weekend. It was like Penn Station on Thanksgiving-Eve.

Today is my first time here. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable with the amount of food. I like the self-serve olives and sauce bar. We ordered a Gyro and the Lamb Fatayer. The Gyro can feed an adult. The Lamb Fatayer can feed two normal appetite people. We are pleased to have the decent food on a Black Friday. :)

I haven’t lived in chapel hill for that long — -and I’ve been here more than any other restaurant in NC. It’s so good!!! First time going in is a little overwhelming as the ordering system is a hot mess– but it adds to the charm of the place. Food: the sides are by far the strength of this place. I like to order the sample and get a mix of both veg and nonveg sides. My favorites are the eggplant(unbelievably delicious) and mujadara.(And with being a carnivore-listing 2 veggie dishes as my favorites is a big deal). The kebabs and fatayehs are also delicious. Have so far been least impressed with the chicken pita –too basic for a place like this! The sauce bar is also great with delicious hot sauces and toum(garlic sauce)! Great for dine in or take out. And leftovers heat up well! Overall– a must-have casual restaurant in chapel hill with affordable prices!

This place is up there on things I miss the most about Chapel Hill. I lived in Chapel Hill for five years and probably ate here ATLEAST once a week. Everything here is so good. I’ve probably had one of everything off the menu. The hummus is fantastic. Sometimes when I was just looking for a snack I’d come here and order hummus and pita for $ 3. So amazing. I wish I I could still eat here all the time.

So this was the question: where can I go for a late lunch with my seven siblings, mom and six nieces and nephews all under the age of five. Add into that that its Fourth of July and we’re all foodie want-to-be’s(thanks mum and dad!). So, we took a chance on Mediterranean Deli and we were beyond pleased. Mediterranean Deli has a large open eating area that you walk into immediately. You stand in line and order while looking at cases of food that can also be picked from. I chose from the grill: a chicken shawarma wrap with a side of Baba Ghanoush and a large piece of balaclava. NOTE: if you get a side of humus, etc you should also pick up a bag of pita bread, it doesn’t come with the meal! But on top of the fabulous food they also have a little open Mediterranean condiment bar FREE with olives, picked veggies, sauces, garlic whip, oh my god I can’t even tell you, it’s just so good! And if you’re not satisfied 100% with the food and service, just take a peak at the grocery store next door! You cannot be disappointed with a stop at the Mediterranean Deli, it’s a must stop for any local or tourist alike!

I really like the ambiance of this restaurant. It’s welcoming, very spacious, and casual without looking too low maintenance. They also have a lot of options on their menu. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the particular dish I got. I got a Greek Fatayer — its looks were deceiving! There was way too much feta cheese and the dish was very salty. I ended up eating the bread and tossing the rest of the dish in the garbage. Despite my bad luck with meal choice, I plan on going back again to try another dish on the menu — hopefully one with less cheese and less salt.

Came here im with my cousin since she’s a vegetarian who has been sheltered from eating out by her parents! Zoe’s was closed so we took a chance on a recommended Mediterranean place in Chapel Hill. The food was pretty good but not the best. I would’ve rather taken my cousin to Jasmin’s Bistro for her first Mediterranean experience. The bathroom was disgusting and the toiletries were not kept up very well. It was a disappointment since many of my unc friends live by it. P. S. My cousin ended up at Jasmin’s the following week and loved the falafel pita and hummus wayyyyy more. At least this place didn’t turn her away from med food altogether!
