Second time here: Both times the service was super slow. the ottomans dish was good, but there was wayyyy too much cheese! I felt like I was having Alfredo pasta with beef sirloin pieces in it. If I wanted a cheese filled food I would go to an Italian restaurant and indulge that way… Restaurant week menu was really bad Grape leaves: I actually really liked it Ottomans dish: too cheesy Eggplant thing: not good– also looked like a lasagna Dessert: Some jelly like Carmel pudding thing— umm lets say everyone had max 2 – 3 bites from the dessert baklava– its baklava, you know how that will taste– so nothing amazing I ordered off the menu and got the knafeh– super good. but I am a huge fan of knafe in general. so that’s different. Overall, they were okay, but I would not come back here again… its different and you should try it to change the palate up a little…

My girlfriend brought me and her brother who was visiting from Los Angeles here for dinner. Conveniently located to the bars on Franklin Street, we got to grab a drink and watch the sunset at Topo before going to dinner. This was my second time at the restaurant but the first time actually dining in. My girlfriend always talked about how good their red sauce and bread was so one time I passed by and grab some of that sauce to bring home to her. They charged $ 5 for the bread and sauce but when you dine in, it is complimentary. The ambiance and service here is great! Love all the Turkish rugs that are hung up on the walls and the beautiful lighting. We sat at the booth seats by the window which felt like a private room because there are curtains separating from the rest of the restaurant. I got the lamb pizza dish which was good but the lamb and beef skewers that her brother got was even better. Very fresh and authentic dishes! I also really like their baklava dessert and their grape leaves were amazing. I would definitely come here at least once a week if I could.

This place was an awesome find on the best street in Chapel Hill. I love pretty much any ethnic food to be found but this was pure deliciousness. They served authentic Turkish Coffee that tasted perfect… A nice combo of coffee and sweetness served in real cups. The food melted in my mouth from the appetizers to the mezze plates… Nothing bad to say about this place!

Sadly, not impressed with the quality of the food at Talullas. First impression-wise, the interior décor was amazing: beautiful tapestries are hung everywhere(and are for sale, apparently!), and lamps that emit nice, dim lighting. Since there were very few people eating there, we got to choose our own table, so we sat in a cozy corner booth with pillows and curtains that created a nice sense of privacy. Our server was very friendly, and the food came out very quickly; no complaints about service at all. However, I was just not a fan of the main dishes that we ordered. Manti: «dumplings» which were basically little lumps of dough with a bit of meat inside, swimming in a strangely spicy yogurt sauce. Iskender: pretty decent! Mostly meat and cubed bread though, so while it tasted good, it could have some different flavor elements from, say, vegetables. Talulla’s Gve w/shrimp: unexpectedly spicy, which I found a bit off-putting. Vegetables, and the entire dish in general, were also rather formless and soupy. Portion sizes were definitely large, which was a bit of a bummer because we had no room left for dessert. However, it pains me to say that I’m probably not coming back to eat at Talullas anytime soon.

Chapel Hill is a pricey town, food and drink are plentiful and across the board competitively delicious. There is no shortage of mediterranean food in the area, each with a unique flavor from that vastly varied culinary region. Turkish food is a personal favorite, carrying with it both social and gastronomic appreciation. Talullas met the mark. On a busy friday evening at 9pm and my fellow guest and I walked in to wait mere moments for a comfortable table. The restaurant is spacious, with a large bar and tables for 2 and tables space for ten. The atmosphere is lush but not overly so, casual enough but exotic. Bread service was superb, a factor I seldom focus on but do find remarkable when done well; a vinegar pepper dip with fresh soft Turkish bread was a nice beginning to the meal. THe menu is varied and mezzes to the turkish flatbread Lahmacun and the larger entrees, there is an option for any occasion or taste. The Sultan’s delight I enjoyed was unlike the dishes I had known but still very enjoyable — smoky sweet eggplant purée beneath a smooth tomato purée and tender chicken. The Musakka is hearty with ample filling, peppers, tomatoes, and lightly incorporated cheese. With a side of rice we enjoyed our dishes, enever has eggplant stood out as such a powerful central component in a dish. The meal concluded with Baklava and a texturally distinct caramelized pudding, reminiscent of Flan but with the chew of a tapioca dish — terrific after a meal of soft eggplant. With good service and a very comfortable atmosphere, a willingness to let patrons linger, and good prices I was amazed. I had expected great things from this restaurant but truly felt my expectations were met. I’ll be back.

I came here with a large party to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday. We had reservations for 5:30pm on a Saturday and we were seated promptly at a large table by the window. Our server was great and the ambience was fantastic. For dinner, my husband and I shared the Sigara Boregi, Sucuklu Pide, and the Musakka. Everything was good, but nothing was outstanding. The Musakka was our least favorite; there just wasn’t a lot of flavor. I’d recommend this restaurant if you’re in a restaurant rut and are looking for something out of the ordinary. It’s a little on the pricey side, but not outrageously so.

I came here on a whim and SOGLAD that I did! As soon as you walk in, you feel like you’ve been transported elsewhere. The décor is seriously on point. We started out with the baba ganoush appetizer which was mouthwatering. They also brought out complimentary bread and tomato/wine dip which blew my world away. My friends and I were fighting to lick the tomato dish at the end. We then got one main and two appetizers, to split among the three of us. We all wanted to try a variety of flavors and so didn’t mind splitting. Ended up with the Sultan’s delight main which was an eggplant based chicken dish. Sensational. The two apps were mucver and cop sis, a vegetable and lamb dish pro. Next time, I would opt for the lamb dish as a main instead of an appetizer. The lamb was very tender and its hard to find it like that.

Omg. Delicious. On the pricier end for a random dinner outing, but so so worth it. Entire experience started great with warm bread, and this delicious tomato olive oil blend. I could’ve eaten just that for dinner. Then for actual dinner got the sultans meal with lamb shank… I didn’t love the tomato sauce mixed… but the eggplant and the lamb was delicious! I was stuffed after the bread, and still somehow finished my meal. Service was curt but efficient. Ambiance very cute. Overall delicious Turkish food. Will definitely be back and am pretty sure my next review will have 5 stars.

Stopped here for dinner with some work colleagues. Delicious! If I lived in the area, I am sure I would become a regular. As noted in the other reviews, the bread and dipping sauce is delightful, and so tempting to fill up on before your meal. Save room and calories though because the rest of the meal was just as on point. I tried the Adana Kebabi for my entrée. My first impression was that the lamb reminded me of the«meat» served in a McRib. Don’t worry or be fooled though because the lamb was so, so good. Perfectly seasoned and very tender. The wine selection had some interesting options. I tried a glass of the Angora, which is a Turkish wine, and it was quite good.

Great atmosphere for a lunch date. We had the flat bread and lamb guvec. Both are delicious. Also, the garlic sauce with bread is really awesome. Will definitely come back for another time

My favorite restaurant in Chapel Hil that I’ve tried so far! Their grape leaf dish, eggplant dish, baklava dessert, and their complimentary bread with red sauce(has vinegar, red pepper, tomato, garlic) is to die for!(I forgot the Turkish names for those dishes) I love the décor and music of this restaurant. Everything I’ve tried here has been so delicious! Love coming here for lunch on Fridays with my coworkers.
