Favorite bar hands down. Best brunch spot and best hang out spot. Ask for PJ if he is working.

This bar is nothing but problems. First time I went my husband got slipped something in his drink and after one drink had go to the hotel as he was dizzy and sick. Who knows who slipped that one in. Maybe a customer maybe a bartender. Either way, that should tell you about the kind of place this is. I’ve also seen someone else post on here that the exact same thing happened to them. The last time we went(Saturday 1⁄30) for husbands birthday was just as bad. A female with brown hair claims I tripped a girl and laughed. Are we serious? I explained to her politely, If I tripped someone I certainly didn’t know about it, but being the wonderful worker she was told me I was kicked out. I had a shot and a beer in my hand(which I had already paid for) told her I was going to take my shot and leave. I then handed her the glass and started walking out. She then comes behind me and forcefully grabs me. Tosses me outside. Mind you, I am not some little college bopper who’s wasted and rude. She is lucky I haven’t filed for excessive force YET. I guess I would be mad too if I was her age and working in a shitty bar. Don’t go to this bar.

ACs is what it is… pretty«divey», good and cheap, and somehow still on King street. Theres a couple pool tables, wooden booths, and a good beer selection if youre not drinking High Life. The service has always been pretty good too. Ive never eaten there, but something passed me last night that smelled delicious. Its not a place i Head out the door to go to, but we always seem to make a stop there when were bouncing around that end of town.

Googled this place and it was listed as a top 10 spot to eat for cheap downtown. The atmosphere is quiet. Ordered the Carolina Burger and the Blairs hit burger. The burgers were great until we looked down and were met by a clan of roaches crawling all over the table… FML

I feel like I would have liked this bar when I was 22 but felt too old to be there as a 28-year-old. Maybe it was just the night I went. Seemed to be slightly hipstery college kids.

Great burgers at a great price! My husband and I loved the dive-bar atmosphere. We do indulge in a stuffed quail on a rooftop bar on occasion, but this was quite a nice change from the tiny dishes for $ 30 each environment. Service was great! We will be back.

They automatically get 5 stars because they have $ 1.75 Yuengling drafts. There are a lot of douchey frat boys here tonight, but you can’t beat the fact that they are playing the Alabama game & have cheap Yuengling. They totally have my vote!

The bartenders are fast and the drunk food is the best. You’ll never hear a better music selection on the weekends than that at ac’s.

It is a dive bar, grab a drink, chit chat and people watch. I have not eaten here the menu looks like fried greasy stuff so up to you. I am headed to Charleston in a week and will probably stop in again.

While visiting South Carolina last weekend, my sister and I paid a visit to A.C.‘s to get a drink. We got a seat at the bar and ordered two drinks. The bartender(a plump gentleman with a beard) was very nice to us and a very quick and pleasant bartender. The atmosphere was nice if you’re into dive bars. The crowd seemed like a mix of eclectic regulars and college students, which was a nice change from the other King street bars. The reason I’m giving this place one star is because after I ordered my second drink, I saw a brown insect moving around behind the bar. I told my sister about it and she didn’t see it, so I kept drinking and talking. A few minutes later I saw a few more running around behind the bar, and we figured out that they were ROACHES. My sister has been in the restaurant industry for years, so I know that it’s fairly common to see some roaches in the BOH, which is gross but what you don’t see doesn’t hurt you, right? BUT seeing roaches running around next to drinking glasses and next to my credit card behind the bar is absolutely disgusting to me. At one point I saw one on the counter behind the bar and a bartender was literally looking right over it like he was completely desensitized to roaches running around where customers can see! I was so disgusted that I got closed my tab and left, but I really wish I had asked to speak to a manager to let them know(not that they don’t already know).

We asked the hotel staff for the closest«dive bar» We got what we asked for! Pool tables with friendly games going, cold long necks or pints, shots… The best cheese steaks! REALLY! From someone from the Philadelphia area they are good.

So I can’t attest for this joint as a drinking establishment, but I can confirm that this is an excellent brunch spot. It’s a total dive, with blaring music, but the brunch menu is outstanding. Thankfully, I got to experience the brunch with my foodie friend, so I got to try a bunch of different things in one sitting. I ordered the mushroom philly omelette, which is pretty much a mushroom cheesesteak in omelette form with hash brown casserole. Phenomenal! The casserole had huge chunks of potato and just the right blend of creamy cheesy goodness. The chocolate chip bacon waffle is spot on if you like your brunch on the sweeter side. I also sampled the biscuits with sausage gravy, which boasted thick hunks of sausage. The staff were very kind and attentive. You order your food at the bar, they give you a number, and look for your number to pop up on a screen by the kitchen, and you go fetch it yourself. The meal is well worth the work you put in yourself. Just don’t head here if you’re looking for a quaint upscale spot. Do come here if you’re feeling adventurous and love a good Charleston brunch.

We love this place. This has happened to be our last stop on both downtown bar crawls so far, so I can’t honestly say I remember every detail. If you get there too early, it is weird. Definitely show up after 11. Drinks are cheap, people watching is great and the bartenders are awesome. See you soon A.C.‘s!

It’s an ok bar. The brunch is its only real redeeming quality. My boyfriend and his friends come here literally every Sunday for brunch and pool. It’s very hipster/grungy. Sometimes it’s fun, sometimes its not. The food isn’t bad, I like the hashbrown casserole!

I can’t help but like AC’s. Even before the fire, before the move, before skinny jeans for guys, AC’s had been one of those places you just have to go to see. Dave and Danny in the kitchen will hook you up with some tasty fries, grilled chicken sammich or just about anything else you can think of eating. And you better tip them. There aren’t many places in Charleston you’re going to find as diverse a crowd as AC’s and that’s what makes it so fun.

Ok, I can’t resist it… I love A.C.‘s! Is it kind of filthy and swarmed with college aged hipsters? Well, maybe a little, but it also has a very eclectic mix of weird that I just cannot turn down. The world NEEDS bars like this. The service is always top notch and their Philly cheese steak is so delicious — drunk or not, prepare to be impressed. Pool tables, good music, and an undeniable dive bar feel are also on my list of positives. Last but not least, they always have a beer of the month for $ 2.25 that never really disappoints — generally a notch or two above PBR(thank the lord). Heineken Light, Magic Hat, and Blue Moon are some that I can recall off the top of my head.

I love dive bars. Why? Decent and affordable food and drinks and unpretentious people. Sometimes you need to relax, and dive bars like this one do it for me. Love it! This one was a little quiet, but it was Sunday. The portions were okay. I loved the grilled cheese though it felt small. But yeah, I love grilled cheeses with American cheese, so I can eat 4 of those. The fries with cheese and bacon were not bad. But really, people were coming in to drink, chill out and not necessarily for the food. Though honestly, try the food. It was not bad. I ate it all. :) Drinks ARE cheap!

I have been to A.C.s plenty of times for a drink or two. I may be getting a bit old for the college crowd that runs this place, but I remember my days in these types of bars and always having a fun time. If you don’t want to be at a bar with a big college scene, then don’t go to A.C.‘s. I was with a couple friends looking for late night eats on upper king. I called the Macintosh but they had stopped serving. Juanita’s was packed wall to wall with a band playing in the front corner. That wasn’t happening. I knew A.C.‘s would still be serving so we kept moving down the street. A.C.‘s was serving food and we snagged the last table. Wasn’t a fan of ordering food at the bar when it was so busy and had to wade through the crowds looking for drinks and place the order for my entire party. Pretty much like being your own server. The you have to go pick up the food in the back too. Not a big deal but by no means convenient. I was dead sober and had a long day. This crowd was too rowdy at this hour so I decided to take the grub to go. Not complaining about the crowd. I expect that at 1am and that would normally be me, but this night it wasn’t and I needed to get out of there asap. I had a burger and we all split some nachos. The nacho plate was gigantic with all the usual toppings. The burger was delicious and seasoned perfectly. Even after taking it to go and eating it 20 mins later. I’m sure that I would have enjoyed anything to eat at that moment being so tired and worn out from the day but, A.C.‘s burger and nachos was a welcomed surprise at 1am. Great late night food!

I didn’t have their food so I can’t speak to that. But the drinks? Holy crap! They’re so cheap and the bar tenders poor heavy. This time around I had a weird request where we asked the bar tender for a half shot of makers and a half of jack mixed with coke so my girlfriend could try them separately. He ended up almost pouring doubles, then gave us a pint of coke to go with it just so she’d know what she likes The beer selection is pretty decent and the bar doesn’t have anything fancy, but thats fine. There are plenty of overpriced places just a few yards away.
