I seem to be in the minority based on the other reviews, but I just don’t get the hype. One of my girlfriends and I decided to check this place out after work. It’s very dark inside. So dark that they gave us a mini flashlight to help us sign the bill. You go to the bar to order and to get your wine or drink. I think this would be a great place for a first date or start to a nice evening. Not so much for an after work drink/charcuterie plate(at least on my budget). The staff was extremely nice and very helpful. They helped us pick out a good cheese($ 11) to go with the chorizo($ 12) we picked out. We sat at one of the two tables in the window which was a great spot. Not soon after, our plate came out. It was good. We also shared a bottle of the cheapest($ 27) Chianti and it was good. I know this is King Street and that’s what sets the prices, but for what we paid, we could have gone to dinner instead. I’m sure I’ll be back at some point, but I’ll definitely be sticking with Avondale Wine and Cheese.

Casual country kitsch interior, nice staff. The selection of wines by the glass is solid, but the prices are steep. I supposed rent is a big factor. Great if you are in the area.

Love this place! Great wine list! More to follow after the wedding. Came in for a celebratory drink after applying for our wedding license. Great friendly service. Beautiful location in downtown Charleston. Loved our server! We will be back soon! Highly recommend!

Loved it! Great selection of wine and champagne in a laid back atmosphere. If you can get one of the two tables in the window, sit back, enjoy a glass of wine and people watch. I very much liked the fact that they had a solid selection of champagnes including a few grower selections. On my next visit to Charleston, you’ll see me there

Good wine but very over priced. Ambiance during the evening time was dark and empty with the place more than 75% empty. I think that it’s the only wine bar in the area but we will most likely not go again as the price was higher than we thought worth returning for and the wine selection was average at best. A let down for sure based on the other Unilocal reviews…

This is one of my boyfriend’s and my favorite places to come to splurge a bit on ourselves. It is typically our first stop when we do date night in downtown Charleston. The décor gives off a very warm and welcoming feel, and the place is small enough to be intimate without being crowded. We usually come for a pre-dinner glass(or bottle) of wine, and some cheese and charcuterie. We are far from wine connoisseurs, but we don’t like to drink swill either. The people who work the bar are very nice and accommodating and always help us find a wine that’s right for our pallets and our budget. This is a place that is visited by a nice mix of locals and tourists. On a weeknight you’ll often see people stopping in for a glass of wine and some chit chat with the bartenders to unwind after a day of work. There is no dress code here. You can come in wearing shorts or a fancy outfit before a classy night on the town. We’ve visited multiple times already, and we plan to keep going back.

Service is amazing! Wine is delish and the portions for the cheese and meat plates are more than enough!

Bin 152 is the ideal place to de-stress after work for wine, cheese and charcuterie aka everything one could ever need. With dim lighting, candles and an imitate, quiet setting, the place is definitely romantic and best for a date. Bin 152 currently offers over 30 wines by the glass and over 130 by the bottle, so anyone is sure to find something they like. For $ 8 you can also get a meat or cheese board served with a generous helping of cut french bread. For those of you like me who like to sample a little of everything, I wish the menu allowed more flexibility for customizing your own meat/cheese board, as each item is $ 8 separately. I also wish Bin 152 had happy hour, as the wine & nibbles can add up quick. With that being said, definitely worth a trip as it is unique to anywhere else in Charleston.

It was pretty close quarters, and pretty noisy. 4 of us were squeezed at a small table, and the place was not very crowded.

In Charleston after a day on Kiowah for the marathon. Stopped in to Bin 152 after dinner looking for some wine and cheese. They didn’t have any port, which was a surprise and a disappointment, but the Grenache was a great substitute. Sweeter and less alcohol than port, but a wonderful compliment to cheese and bread. Also had a Segla, French Bordeaux with a great bouquet — rich fruits, cherry, and short on tannins. Light in style, also wonderful with bread and cheese. We could have had several loaves of bread, warm, fresh, and w a yeast fragrance, w butter, that was a knock-out with the cheese. Both cheeses were goat cheese, one a Brie that had a rich flavor and stood up to the wine well. The other cheese was weak and not very flavorful w the wine and bread. It was much better by itself, but if you’re drinking wine wouldn’t you want a stronger cheese flavor to pair with it? Trendy place w a couple of very knowledgeable wine guys — if you’re looking for an after dinner wine and cheese experience you have to try this!

While in town, stopped at this wonderful wine bar, with a very nice dark atmosphere and smooth music to relax to. Adam was great in helping with the selections. Had a German Riesling that was perfect, Mrs had an american red. All great choices.

I was in Charleston for 2 days and this place was so awesome that I went twice! This is something I always try to avoid doing when traveling to a place I’ve never been. I came here the first night around 6pm to grab a few drinks before figuring out where else I’d go for the rest of the evening. They have a pretty amazing wine and champagne selection to say he least. I had 3 glasses of one of their brut champagnes(I don’t remember the name) and it was delicious. Very dry with the right amount of sweetness. The place has a very intimate atmosphere that is perfect for holding conversation or a date. There are also tables spread around the restaurant and the lights are dimly lit. Very mature atmosphere. I opted to sit at the bar where I held some great conversation with two bartenders, one of which was the owner. They both could not have been any nicer. They literally set me up for the entire trip by writing down every restaurant, bar or activity I needed to try. They turned out to be correct as everywhere I went in Charleston was awesome. The next night I came back was no different. This was my favorite place in Charleston from an overall experience standpoint. Great drinks, great atmosphere, awesome staff and they even have multiple meat and cheese platters to snack on with your drinks. An absolute must if you’re visiting Charleston.

This place is magic. It feels like something from a movie. Stop in, chat with the bartenders you feel like you’ve known forever, nibble on cheese, sip wine. Wish I’d come here sooner instead of two days before my move to Charlotte. Nonetheless, a fond memory to take along.

Stopped here on our walk around the city in between our appetizers and dinner, so I can’t say we were really in the mood to eat or drink much. I really like the concept of this place though. They do cheese and meat platters with wine pairings and they go for perfection, rather than try to offer everything under the sun and simply do well. It’s a very specific niche, but they do have a vast variety of cheeses and sausages to try and the baguettes served with them are tasty. We had the sobrasada and it was rich and flavorful. Our server was extremely personable and kept us company. I think a lot of restaurants in this country could learn from Bin 152, instead of offering such extensive menus(the longer a menu I see in a place the more suspicious I get), they could choose their place in the food industry and stand by it. They don’t need to ever offer more, and clearly there is a market for those who want a perfect wine and cheese pairing experience.

This is probably one of the best wine bars I’ve ever been to. The wine is delicious. Anything that they have by the glass you can try a sample of before you purchase your glass or bottle. It’s funny how the American wines are more expensive than the European wines though. I always like a good Napa Valley wine but have tried some Italian and French wine here because they are more affordable. The cheese plates are delicious! They will even give you more bread if you run out and still have cheese left on your plate. The bartenders are really friendly and helpful on guiding your taste buds where they want to go. One even wrote me a lengthy list of good places to check out in Charleston and organized it by category! I’ve been in the afternoon and later at night. Bin 152 is great for a glass or to share a whole bottle with friends! Go!

While I found it a bit pricy, I also found this little place to be worth the money. The staff is super knowledgeable about their extensive wine list and are very friendly, and willing to let you sample a few wines before committing to a selection. They also have an impresive selection of cheeses and charcuterie. Each piece of cheese or salami/ham will set you back $ 8. For instance the Hubs and I ordered one cheese and one salami selection and it was a $ 16 charge. The portions are most generous though and come with lovely slices of french baguette. The crowd is a bit pretentious, and over impressed with themselves. If, however, you can overlook all the vapid conversation going on around you, you are sure to have an enjoyable bottle of vino!

Great little wine bar; really nice place to stop after dinner on date night. They have a good wine selection, and pairing a bottle with their cheeses and breads is always a good option. The nice quiet atmosphere encourages deep conversation and makes the place feel comfortable. Protip: Watch out for the vents in the floor; most are hidden underneath the tables and can make for a chilly & surprising experience if you’re wearing shorts. I guess some people might be into that though.

Eclectic atmosphere with a relaxing vibe. Great wine selection, although a little on the pricey side($ 10-$ 15/glass). We tried a cheese/meat plate. We selected our cheese from a list of 20 or so, and our meat(shorter list than cheese). The bread that came with it was fabulous, and very fresh. A great compliment to the wine. We received two wedges of cheese(for $ 8) and about 10 thin slices of meat(for about $ 8) and a thin loaf of bread(about 20 pieces). They did not have table service when we were in. We had to walk up to the bar to ask questions and order. Hopefully this was only because it was slow on a Sunday, and not an everyday occurrence. It would have been nice to have someone come to our table to explain the cheese, meat, and wine to all of us, rather than send a messanger up to the bar. We enjoyed the atmosphere, service, wine, and food. We will definitely be back.
