Nice, clean place, very limited seating. Food was excellent, but prices were a tad high I thought. Still everything we had was excellent.

Fresh oyster shooters and the smoked oysters were delicious. Very friendly service. Parked right in front. Super friendly and helpful server.

This place is small, the crab salad is mostly nasty lettuce and for this Louisiana girl-just not enough crab! I spilled my water, and everyone helped me clean it up except the one waitress working the entire place. All in all just a tourist place to watch the fisherman.

I love going to Chuck’s. The Oysters are so delicious and amazing. Even though the prices are reasonable I always spend too much money here. Buy a pint or quart of Oysters and you’ll thank me later. Some other items include shrimp, crab, seafood salad, smoked and canned salmon, along with other fresh goodies.

Nice little fish market right down from the Charleston Marina. Had a pretty good fresh fish and seafood selection. Also had some canned tuna, clams, salmon, and shrimp that we bought to give a try. Lots of mixes for dips and the sort for sale too. The salmon sticks are pretty awesome, you should definitely get one if you go here.

One of the few seafood markets on the Oregon coast that deals more with selling seafood than slinging out fried seafood for tourists. Really fresh oysters, fish, Dungeness crab. We got a live crab to cook at home, because I do think freshness is key, but they sell them cooked if you aren’t comfortable cooking them yourself. They also have a variety of canned seafood that has been good so far. I should also mention their freshly smoked seafood. We tried the salmon and the oysters, they were some of the best we’ve ever had. You can even smell the wonderful smoke in the shop sometimes, it’s that fresh. Just a quintessential coastal seafood market. You can get the quality of seafood you expect when you are right next to the ocean(which is harder to find than you might expect). Pricey, yes, but good quality, so worth it. If you like cooking, fresh ingredients are key, and if you like fresh seafood, you should definitely check this place out. Service was friendly, one of the guys who works here remembers us on our multiple visits when we were vacationing in nearby Coos Bay.

They work very hard for their reputation. Many seafood place have came and went but Chucks is still here. The seafood is fresh, fresh cooked, smoked salmon sticks, smoked oysters, great stop for the person you know who collects hot sauce. They have shrimp cocktail’s I don’t even think they advertise, but a must stop at if your in Coos Bay.

If you like slow, cold-smoked fish, clams, or oysters, this is the place for you. Lots of fresh fish and crab in season to take home to cook, and some really great treats from the smoker. The albacore is out of this world. In addition to plain smoked albacore, they have chunks with various spices/flavors. They sometimes have salmon candy. Wow. Stock up on your way to Cape Arago or the South Slough National Estuarine Reserve.

You’ve got to check this place out. Fish so fresh it’s almost still moving. Wild salmon so red I’ve never seen anything like it. Try the smoked oyster sticks. Or the salmon sticks. Or the pints or tubs of oysters starting at $ 6.99 ! Be patient. 1 or 2 servers and lots of people. This place rocks.

Just went for a vacation to Coos Bay and everyone said«VISITCHUCKS.» Dear lord, I was there every day of my vacation. The smoked fish was insanely out of this world! The chinook salmon was the best but yummm the tuna, cod, octopus and oysters were delicious! The smoked salmon stick($ 1.50 I think?) was delicious and a great snack… The jalepeno smoke salmon stick is even better. Everything in here is FRESH(never seen salmon so red, plump and fresh!!). Staff is very knowledgeable. Already miss this place :( My suggestion? Get a salmon stick and walk around the piers and jetty, enjoying the view.

Now, do I wish I had a boat so could pull fresh fish out myself? Well, I guess so, but I think I’d still go to Chuck’s. What we love: the smoked oysters, albacore tuna loins, salmon(fresh and previously frozen are both great; we only get Pacific, though they’ve run out until the season starts again in the spring), crab(we buy it already picked), canned tuna(though you can get Chuck’s elsewhere too). There are two or three tables set up to eat there, but it is really more of a market. But we’ve sat there and had a lovely crab lunch on at least two occasions when we were hungry! The people there are super helpful if you need help, but super efficient. If you need something special, speak up!(I always ask them, for instance, to take the skin off my salmon. They of course do a beautiful job.) Expensive? Not for what you get. Fantastic fish(even if previously frozen) handled right.

I wished I had a video camera. Ten in the morning and a Japanese family of six was eating oysters as if there were no tomorrow. Dad had the shucking knife and was shucking the oysters out as fast as he could on the small oilcloth covered table. The kids were wolfing them down. I know they had had at least two dozen and they were still eating when I left. But that’s what tourism is all about. Get down, get dirty, get into it. Now I gotta tell you I’m a tuna lover. So when I hit Charleston and saw tuna offered for everthing from $ 2.50 a pound and up, I knew I wasn’t leaving Charleston withiout tuna. I had hit several markets and I think the $ 2.50 price was for whole tuna. Several markets had loins, filleted out, and Chucks had the best looking Albecore loins in town at $ 6.50. The woman at the counter was incredibly helpful and got a styrafoam box and ice and packed my fish for me. The ice held it for the fourteen hour trip home. I’d buy again. As other Unilocalers say this is a Market, not a restaurant.

I go here specifically for the fresh oysters– a dozen for $ 6! Keep them cold, and cook over a grill till they open. Add some lime and tapatio, and you have a very expensive meal for a very cheap price. Oysters are twice the size of any you’ll find at area restaurants, and they come directly from the farm across the street. The staff at Chuck’s will even give you pointers on prep and cooking. If you want it, you can pick up seasoning here too, along with canned and smoked seafood, but it is a little pricey.

The smoked selections are wonderful. I highly recommend going for there that. We bought the smoked terriyaki tuna was just wonderful. I saw some frozen items as well as fresh, so not ALL of it is «fresh off the boat». Yes, this is a seafood market NOT a place to dine!

The reason it so overpriced is because it comes right off the boats! Its as fresh as you can get without going fishing yourself. Great place to go, alot of times I go just to see what the catch of the day is.

Overpriced seafood that one can get elsewhere for less is the downside. On the upside is the selection, the quality and the amount of spices and condiments one can buy at Chuck’s. If you are buying seafood for regular meals at home, you’d better be RICH but if you’re getting something for a special occasion or as a gift to give, it’s okay as taking the high price hit a couple times a year isn’t that big a deal in the greater scheme of things. Service is friendly and the place is quite clean. To those reading the review who have not been there before, take note Chuck’s Seafood is NOT a restaurant, it’s a store.
