This rooftop bar is on the top floor of a gorgeous hotel. It’s worth a trip just to check out the décor here. We sat outside on some of the funky furniture while enjoying our drinks. The weather was perfect, the crowd was diverse, and nothing felt rushed at all. We took our time and people-watched throughout the evening. This was a great stop!

Hidden gem in the grand bohemian hotel. Not sure why the bachelorette groups are not rock n roll here for Sunday brunch. One of the best seafood brunch places ever! Nice service and cute design for a glamorous shot too!

What a delightful spot to spend a clear, cool evening. We stopped here as part of a girl’s night and were glad to see it wasn’t too crowded between 9 and 11 p.m. on a Saturday. We claimed one of the bird’s nest-type cushions for our group. I think we got a little loud, but the servers treated us really well. We ordered enough that the bar treated us to free shots. Can’t comment on the food. And I thought it was weird that the group next to us had a 10-year-old kid out late at night at a bar, but whatever I wasn’t going to censor myself for him. Classy spot – would return.

The brunch was outstanding. So much to choose from — great presentation. The added bonus was our incredible server, Ms. Bonita. She exemplifies what Charleston is all about — graciousness…

Another rooftop bar worth checking out. The views aren’t as spectacular as some others(Market Pavilion, The Watch) but it’s a nice oasis above the crowds, especially as tourist season ramps up(and the art gallery and hotel lobby are worth checking out as well – this is a beautiful space). The décor at Eleve is quirky –all the bright colors and oversized chairs made me think of Alice In Wonderland somehow– and they have a great happy hour, with some signature cocktails, as well as house wines and bar snacks, at reduced prices. We stopped in before a show at the Gaillard and tried a margarita(deliciously citrusy), a glass of the house Cabernet and a bowl of chips with blue cheese and a crème fraîche dip. Everything was delicious and we only wished we’d had more time to spend there.

On top of the Grand Bohemian Hotel is this inside and outside roof-top bar. Recently, I participated in a roof-top bar crawl and this one was the stand-out. Great mix of indoor and outdoor seating. There was a deal for punch bowls for happy hour which was nice, since some roof-tops are all about high prices without much more. The inside area did get a bit load as an echo chamber and from the happy hour crowd. Might have to check it out again for desserts since that seemed popular items.

It was the last day in Charleston on a recent trip and the wife wanted to try Élevé for brunch. Apparently this is a new place in a new hotel called the Grand Bohemian hotel by Marriott. It was a little confusing finding the actual restaurant as it’s on the top floor of the hotel, but the lady at the check in counter told us the way. Overall the hotel looks like a fancy and swanky downtown Charleston hotel, I’m sure that it’s pricy but also in a great location. Anyway, onto the restaurant and the food. We quickly found out that Sunday brunch means buffet brunch with all the trimmings, which means all you can drink mimosas and bloody marys. Disclaimer, there is a 2 hour max on the unlimited drinks so order early and often. The food is also full of traditional buffet classic like benedicts, egg scrambles, bacon/sausage, charcuterie, waffles, carving station, pastries and a fancy raw bar including oysters, smoked salmon, ceviche, octopus salad, etc. Overall, a lot of great options with the raw bar really standing out, too bad I only have one stomach. Pastries and blueberry tart were also delicious for desserts. The service was also great and the view is definitely nice. We sat inside but on a warmer day, the outside seating would definitively be the spot to be. I would love to try the regular breakfast menu a la carte but would certainly return for the brunch as well.

So disappointed. We have had drinks and small plates at the bar. We then made a reservation January 24 for April 2 in the private dining room because we had a large party. We were In touch with them twice, 3 weeks and 2 weeks before our reservation, to add 1 person and then to reconfirm. Our experience was Sooooo slow. nice server but very inexperienced and the management gave her NO real support. Two pasta«specials» embarrassingly inedible. Appetizer and regular menu items good, but with so many other choices, don’t do dinner. Drinks and apps and move on

I have to admit that I was super nervous about this pricey buffet — the reviews seemed to be hit-or-miss. [I don’t mind paying for food, but I hate it when I have a high price paired with mediocre quality.] However, the Easter brunch buffet was great! Our server did quite well, the food selection was excellent, and the bottomless mimosa/bloody mary option was nice. I think the price was very fair, considering the overall quality of the experience. I would definitely go back for another brunch and that’s saying something from a native Charlestonian with very high standards for my meals!

Great start for our night. Hit the bar a for a couple drinks and enjoyed the scene. Rooftop is quite nice but could use more overall seating or community table tops. Peter down in the wine bar knows his stuff as well – bring in the bourbon and scotch to the draft system!

This place has a real personality. The style isn’t my favorite — it’s modern and flashy — but at least they’re going for it. Honestly the food is just delicious. I’ve eaten here twice for lunch and once for happy hour. If it’s nice, grab a seat on the rooftop and enjoy the views!

Delicious food, try the strip steak or the mushroom panzini. Beer and wine is great and so is the atmosphere.

Eleve was a disappointing experience. We are used to loud restaurants in old buildings in Charleston, but for a brand new hotel to have a restaurant louder than the worst of the old building restaurants here is without excuse. In addition, there is absolutely no ambience in this restaurant. It comes across as stark and cold. Has an extremely poor design all around. And then there is the food. While my entrée, a grilled pork chop, was quite good the other three diners with me did not like their meals. Watching one try to cut the beef, I understood why! It was very tough. The spinach salad dressing was bland. The desserts tasted like they came out of a boxed mix. Our servers were personable, the restaurant was not busy, but the servers were not on top of refills on drinks or other attentive measures. I am embarrassed I chose this restaurant to take our friends to! There are too many excellent restaurants in Charleston. We won’t waster our time on this one again.

Can’t comment about the food, only ambiance and cocktails. This is one of those places where you’re most likely to run into the crew of Housewives of Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, etc, etc. Even though the place may not be my cup of tea, I can still appreciate impeccable décor(think Alice in Wonderland funky) and well crafted cocktails(with a kick and fresh juices). There is also a great patio to take in the sights and relax, but I heard you can’t smoke there. So if you want to glam it up, switch it up, then get in here. Old Charleston this is not.

Got around to dining at Élevé as opposed to just having cocktails at the two bars and outdoor/rooftop as done previously. After having dinner there, I’d say its best for just cocktails. Tables(high and low tops) are wedged between two bars, amidst a pretty trendy atmosphere. My ribeye was probably the worst I’ve had in a long time at $ 39. Not only was it paper thin, it was overcooked, and really just lacked juices and taste. The truffle fries lacked truffle flavor, and the portion of the asparagus was laughable. Not sure I’ll dine here again given the plethora of options in Charleston, but glad I found out for myself. It was notably loud and the service was mediocre. I’ll stop complaining now, it was just forgettable. Tip: Be sure to check out the nude art.

I wasn’t really wowed by their drink. The 3 of us weren’t really inspired by their drink menu, either. The place is on a gaudy side with lots of shiny things, and the TV screen at the bar was definitely a turn off. The staff was courteous and friendly but this won’t stay on my list.

Brunch was phenomenal! The staff were super friendly and attentive. A chef even came by our table to ask about the meal. There is a smaller seating are and a larger area. Ask to sit in the smaller area if you are bothered by noise because it does get loud with a lot of people in the larger area. The outdoor patio was wonderful! I finished my coffee there after meal. Perfect weather, food, and people! I loved it!

It’s only been open for about 3 weeks now, but I had a pretty enjoyable restaurant week meal there on Thursday night. The charcuterie and tomato burrata were delicious appetizers, and I quite enjoyed their take on Shrimp & Grits. I think the fat in the lamb could’ve been rendered out a little more, but the potatoes it was served with were very tasty. My favorite course of the evening was dessert. The hominy cake with fresh strawberries was divine and the Grand Marnier gelato was absolutely fantastic. Would love to try it out again! Bonita, our server, was extremely attentive and friendly.

Checked this place out for Restaurant Week last night. Being brand new, I was excited to see what sort of new offerings they had for downtown. I can honestly say that I was not impressed with the overall dining experience. The hotel and the restaurant décor is a little quirky but lovely. It’s definitely a different kind of vibe then you normally get in Charleston and I was all for it. When we arrived a little before our 8pm reservation there were only a handful of tables that were being occupied but it was already very loud. The main dining area is open but it seems little consideration was paid to how much the sound would carry. As more tables started filling up it got louder and louder. I chose this place for restaurant week because their menu was something other than the normal«braised short ribs» and«steak and frittes» that so many other places offer. The first course of Tomato Burrata was probably the best course of the evening. The dish was simple but tasty, being exactly what I was expecting and wanting. My entrée of leg of lamb with a potato casserole was about as bland as you can get. The lamb was overcooked and the potato casserole that claimed to have bacon in it was lacking in any flavor other than cream and potato. There was also two sides of truffle fries ordered for the table that were incredibly unremarkable. I can list a handful of bars that are offering better truffle sides than we received here. The last dish was the hominy cake with caramel sauce, berries, and ice cream. It was the perfect sub-par dessert to top off this mediocre experience. The cake itself was VERY dry and there wasn’t enough caramel sauce to help it be more tolerable. The ice cream was just standard vanilla served on the side with some sliced berries on top of the cake. A friend ordered an addition of crab cake with her salmon entrée and not only was it pretty small, but extremely bland and brought out separately on a bare plate with no attempt at presentation. Now let’s talk about service. I’m usually inclined to let some things slide when a place has been open for only a short time. Being as this is a more formal restaurant that is charging $ 30 – 45 an entrée, I expect the service to match, even if you are new. We were greeted promptly by our server who brought us water. After that, it was longer and longer intervals before we saw our server again. We were seated for about 15 minutes before he took our order for a bottle of wine and then it was another 10 minutes before it actually came out. He poured our sparkling wine and without asking if we would like the bottle left with us at the table, if we wanted an ice bucket, or if we preferred for it to continued to be chilled behind the bar, he took it away. My preference when I order a bottle of wine is for it to be left in my presence where I can pour it as I want and make sure the bartender doesn’t accidentally pour out of my bottle. I know that the restaurant has ice buckets because I saw a server carrying one to the kitchen. By the time our order was taken we had been at the restaurant for about 40 minutes. Keep in mind that it’s starting to push 9pm on a Wednesday evening and we’re getting hungry. Our order is taken and we wait a standard time for our courses to come out. The 1st course was easy because we had all ordered the same dish. The second course was brought out and I had to remind the waiter who ordered what instead of being served our entrees. We were missing one of our extra sides that we had ordered and the crab cake that was ordered was set down in front of me instead of the person at the opposite diagonal of me at the table, so there was some rearranging that was needed after the servers left. Once our desserts were cleared we waited another 15 – 20 minutes for the bill and then were brought the incorrect check. By the time we figured out the checks and paid up, the server never came back to box up our leftover food and I had to wave them down to get their attention. Overall impressions are that this would be a fun place to stop at for a drink or an appetizer with some friends and hang out before heading to dinner elsewhere. I felt that the $ 40 price of my meal for restaurant week was overpriced so I can’t imagine going back and paying $ 40 for one single entrée. Food alone was going to give this review a 3 star but the less than stellar and awkward service brought it down to a disappointing 2 stars. Tips: The restaurant is on the 4th floor.(We didn’t see any signs and had to ask the valet where to go.) The wine list is fairly broad and offers some relatively moderately priced options. Get there early if you want to check out the gallery, it was already closed by the time we got there at 7:45.
