Dedicated sweet tooth and not even ashamed of it.
Heard about this place from the boy’s co-​worker who is a native of Charleston.
Waited 45 mins in a line outside of the restaurant to be seated; granted it was Memorial weekend. The boyf and I took breaks from the line because it was so damn hot. When we reached the inside boy the scent of dessert was for real. Sat down and ordered fried green tomatoes, fried catfish, and fried coca cola cake.
Gained 2 pounds of realness on my thighs and had no care in the world.
Boyf thought the coca cola cake was a hype and a tourist trap. I buy into the tourist trap gimmicks often. definitely this is a place you visit once in Charleston.

Get the coca cola cake or the bourbon blondies. I promise you will not be disappointed!!!

The wait for Jestine’s Sweet Shop was certainly significantly less than the time most have to wait in line to get in the restaurant– and we found the items we purchased here to be delicious. We couldn’t decide what we wanted to try– so we purchased a range of items. I had what we call a «magic bar» and also tried a lemon bar– both were moist and perfectly cooked. My husband enjoyed the desserts that he tried as well. I think this sweet shop is worth a stop.

Did not get to eat here, as this seems to have been simply roped into the kitchen. Disappointed when all I wanted was dessert.

Love Jestine’s. I have to eat here every time I’m in Charleston. Awesome southern food.

We came here after our so-​so lunch at their main restaurant. Thank goodness we did, because both items we purchased were delicious.
Their Coca Cola cake is absolutely sinful. So much chocolate, but it’s sooo good. The icing is what makes this cake. The cake very moist and sticks to your fork. We also got a piece of chocolate cake, but the Coca Cola cake was our favorite.
Definitely save room for this place after your meal!

The prices were very reasonable. I ordered a lemon square that was divine. I also ordered a red velvet cupcake that was very moist. The praline was just OK, but I would come back to try so many other things that looked delicious.

Plan was to try the famous coca cola cake. I went in when they opened at 11am and ordered the coca cola cake. Since I only had my credit card, I decided to also get a pecan pie. You need to spend over a certain amount (I think $ 6) to use your credit card. I was excited to try the cake, specially because other reviewers mentioned that it was not too sweet, and I am not a fan of cakes that are overly sweet. I took the cake home and tried it there. What the cake reminded me of was a brownie with fudge on top. I did not taste coke or even much of a sponge. The cake was very sweet, and it fell apart in my hands. It was not bad, but it was simply not what I had in mind. I wanted to taste more bread and also did not expect it to have nuts. The nuts were mainly on the top of the cake, not throughout. I would not get it again.
Oh, and a slice of the coca cola cake was $ 5.50 and it came to just over $ 6 with taxes. I also got a small pecan pie that I have yet to open for $ 8.50 (just over $ 9 with taxes).

Red velvet cupcakes are amazing! This small store smells awesome too… they had just baked some muffins with bananas and it smelled like banana bread in there. I wanted one of everything! I’ll definitely be back.

The Coca-​cola cake is worth the trip alone! Everything we had from here was great!

OH. MY. GOODNESS. I will have to revisit this place. The bourbon blondie was incredible … so moist and chewy and full of flavor.
I wish the coffee had tasted a bit fresher. Maybe the key is to show up right when they open. In any case though, Jestine’s is a must-​try.

Red velvet cupcakes that melt in your mouth and coca-​cola in small glass bottles make Jestine’s an amazing stop-​off to cure your sweet tooth craving or of you don’t have the time to wait in line for lunch at Jestine’s.

Where have you been all of my life? The staff is amazing and seemed so touched that we enjoyed everything. I could have eaten one of everything in the case!
The Coca Cola cake is a slice of heaven and the banana pudding is um, um good!

I had the pleasure of using Jestine’s Sweet Shop for my wedding cake. I wanted a simple two tier cake and baker Jessica took the reins from there, and what I got was the perfect wedding cake, with delicate beaded decorations. It was delicious. And the red velvet cupcakes on the side were the perfect accompaniement. Jessica listened to what I wanted and filled the order perfectly.

What in GOD’s name? I have never had anything so delicious in my life! I will be dreaming about these for the rest of my natural life.

The tastiest, most unusual item on Jestine’s menu is the Coca-​Cola Cake. «Cocola,» as we used to say in ATL when I was growing up.
Here’s a thought: skip the wait at Jestine’s and simply buy cake — whole or by the slice — at her sweet shop around the corner on Wentworth Street. Actually we did both: got the cake in the restaurant and went to JSS the next day to get cake to bring home with us.
The woman who waited on us was really helpful and didn’t mind answering the same questions she must have already heard a thousand times.
