Lowdown oven and bar is a laid back easy and relaxed sports bar and restaurant. The margaritas are awesome and the margarita pizza are just as good. The roadhouse burger was awesome! Dress casual and enjoy the spirits and food!

The food was great!!! Hubs had the meatball sub and I had the half cheesesteak. It was still big and it had to be one of the best ones that I’ve ever had!!! Beautiful presentation, but after eating the half sub I had no room for the side salad. Would highly recommend it and we will definitely be going back!!!

Yuck. What else can I say? Won’t return! Waiter had enough cologne to turn the food sour. Food okay, drinks not so much.

Food = 2⁄5 Value = 2⁄5 Service = 4⁄5 Meh. Not horrible but I can’t recommend and probably won’t be returning. $ 1.50 beers are great anywhere but I need more than that to frequent somewhere. It’s a shame that we didn’t enjoy this place more as it’s very close to home but we all agreed that the food was lacking, proportioned too small and overpriced(a common complaint here but it needs to be noted). I had the cuban which was all bread(hoagie roll not a panini like you would expect) and only a tiny ball of meat in the center. My friend had the chicken pot pie which had massive chunks of potato, hardly any chicken and like the cuban, just didn’t meet expectations. If you’re going to be a bar, be a bar but if you plan to have a successful lunch crowd, the menu/proportions/price needs to be addressed.

Katie our server was top notch! The menu has a wonderful selection. We will definitely be back. Our group tried the bbq pizza, pot pie, and meatball sub. All excellent fresh ingredients. Homemade gourmet! The vibe is a sports bar but the food is so much better than bar food. So excited to have a great place to eat on James Island.

The half price Thursday burgers are wonderful! They are so fresh and juicy. I would highly recommend the Thursday night special to anyone.

Every business makes mistakes. Management was no where to be seen tonight. Shame on us the patron for not speaking up before the couple at our communal table who sat down next to us 10 min after we ordered, finished. All other patrons appeared well served in a timely fashion.

2-stars sounds kinda harsh, but Unilocal defines 2 stars as Meh. LDOB is very meh. We have been here twice and didn’t find the menu options or food all that appealing. The outside patio seating has a lovely view of the traffic on Folly Rd. When compared to other sports bar-esque, full menu restaurants on James Island, LDOB doesn’t stack up.

I’ve only been once. 2 appetizers that were OUTSTANDING were: 1) Fried mozzarella blobs with sauce(no longer on menu, however they made it for my wife) 2) Cornbread in a 6″ cast iron skillet saturated in honey butter was the most delicious thing I have tasted in quite some time! That’s all i have to say about it. Burger was not outstanding… was not bad either. Fries were excellent! WAIT!!! Did I mention the CORNBREADAPPETIZER? If nothing else, STOP in & have one. or TWO! Believe me, your eye’s will roll back in your head & your taste buds will convey to your brain receptors a feeling of euphoria. You’ll mumble«hmmm-hmmm good!» in the direction of anyone within earshot! I’ll be back mid January 2016. If the CORNBREAD app. is no longer on the menu, I will unfortunately have to vacate the premises! Cheers! 8-)

Lowdown Over and Bar works well for the James Island, SC culture. The staff truly cares about their patrons and the wait staff is very casual and warm. Each day, you offer a special to draw you in and the food is quite good for bar food. Wednesday is half price bottles of wine and pizza. Thursday is half price burgers all day. Both are great deals. Also, $ 1.50 Bud cans all day everyday. There are some TV’s in and out and a small cornhole area. Overall, a good hangout. There is also a big indoor community table for big groups.

I’ve only tried a couple items on the menu, but what I go for ALL the time is the burgers. I normally order the sliders because I like tasting a bunch of different things but man they are to die for. I normally hit them up once a week to get my burger fix. The addiction is real.

We’ve been to the lowdown 2 or 3 times and it was never something that encouraged us to come back that often. So, we usually end up hitting the usual James Island spots, but most of them have let us down recently. Back to the Lowdown, we went in last night to give it another try. Something is very different in the kitchen, in a great way. I wouldn’t just throw out a 5 star rating, but the change in the quality and flavor of the food deserves it. Everything we had had a ton of flavor and we will definitely be back. As long as they can keep it up. And pleasant service from someone who was working the entire restaurant.

Outside it pet friendly with dog bowls and has a corn hole game great for friends and family to hang, inside is a bar with great drinks and tvs– perfect for every occasion & not just that but the food was perfect! I got a burger(forgot the name The something) had fried mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce was amazing! & I’m a frie lover and these were perfect they were small slightly crunchy not greasy. My boyfriend got a build your own pizza it was only $ 7 and delicious. I don’t live here but will definitely be coming back again.

The food at the Lowdown is always amazing. Love their nachos– really different from any other nachos I’ve had. They have crumbled cheese and a vinegar based sauce– SOGOOD! The sliders and pimento cheese are also terrific. The only reason I’m not giving them 5 stars is because they leave a large window open at night to the outside bar. When it is really cold out the entire restaurant gets cold and sometimes smells of smoke. If I bring a jacket though… it is great. Great weeknight specials.

For James Island, this place is great. The place is clean. The service is friendly. The food is great– I’ve had cornbread, nachos, burgers, pizza, waffle sundae, and meatballs– with zero complaints. I was pleasantly surprised to find a small well done menu on Folly Road. Granted, from the street this place looks like crap. But it’s amazing. Try it. For love of James Island, let’s keep it in business.

We went in right at noon. There was one other couple there already eating. Great deal for $ 7 combo if you want to try out some of their items. The place was nice and clean. Pretty bright and roomy on the inside. The staff was friendly. Danny got the $ 7 special. He got the ½ roast beef sandwich with soup of the day: chili. I tasted the roast need and it was moist. Odd that it had 2 big slices of mozzarella cheese on top but hey when in Rome. It neither added nor detracted from the flavor. That horseradish layer though was there from the first bite. Wow! I thought the chili was good but the presentation in a coffee mug was not my favorite. My food was a little spicy but not so much that it took away the flavor. I had the Cuban sandwich. The roll was a little too hard for me me but the pulled pork was pretty good. That cornbread though that we got in the beginning as an appetizer was delicious. The«butter» was sweet and more like frosting on a cake. I should have saved it for desert instead of sharing. They had a few select craft and IPA beer options that we liked tremendously.
