Pizzas are definitely worth sharing! Loved The Southern and the Meathead calzone. And oh my god you have to get a Fresh Zen and a Crozet lemonade, they’re such delicious cocktail drinks. The service is great here and every Wednesday they now have Cards Against Humanity, which I always try to bring people along to. I’ve been here before with friends and it’s such a great chill place. Every Tuesday they have a 3 $ Fresh Zen special and Wednesday is Beat the Clock pizza deal, where you get a cheese pizza(12 inch) for whatever the time on the clock is(starts at 5pm for 5 $) and toppings are discounted. Definitely love this place and would recommend.

Having lived in Chicago I am a bit of a pizza snob. But I do remember the original being very good so I thought this might compare. My pizza arrived cold so I had to reheat, I understand that’s a delivery issue. The pizza was very bland.

The pizza is so delicious if eaten fresh at the restaurant. We had half southern and half outlaw. The use of fresh jalapeños really made the pizza.

The place that was here before, The Backyard, was where I worked, my favorite bar, and really a second home in Charlottesville. As a result, I can’t help but come back to this spot whenever I am in town. On my first few visits I was impressed by the renovations they made and the drink menu Crozet had put together. This weekend I went back for dinner and drinks here and was very disappointed. As a disclaimer, it was the Friday of homecoming weekend and the restaurant was quite busy(although not swarming like places were on Saturday night). We had to wait a few minutes to get seated, but we grabbed a drink at the bar while we waited and they did a good job getting us a table relatively quickly. Once we were seated the service really fell through. No one came by and we didn’t get a menu for about ten minutes. From there, having a waitress come over so we could order food/drinks, get utensils, pay, etc was a continuous struggle. We split a pizza between a few of us which was decent, but definitely unimpressive. After years of hearing about how I needed to try Crozet Pizza back in college, I am glad that I stuck with Mellow, Dominos, and Christians. The big problem here were the cocktails. Before I get into my rant I will make two concessions, first, I have had the dark and stormy here before a few times and it has been good and second, the cocktails are only $ 5. That being said they were horrible. I watched the bartender make them and she just obviously didn’t know what she was doing. She held the bottle at about a ten degree angle and let alcohol dribble out for a two count before putting it back. We were lucky if we got half a drink in any of the cocktails. Then the Crozet Lemonades were literally too tart to drink. When I took them back she replied«well they are suppose to be tart.» I am aware, but after a small sip I have the same physical reaction as when I bite into a lime. She agreed to redo it and would make it less tart, but assured me it would not be any more alcoholic. In her defense she has to put up with know-it-all college kids every day that are for the most part trying to get as much alcohol as possible for their money. That being said, she made terrible drinks and then was extremely rude when we asked for them to be remade, inexcusable. I am hoping that I just had a bad experience with someone who was having an off night, and not that Crozet management instructed their bartenders to do light pours. I had a 1 – 2 star experience there for dinner, but I still like the space and love the place as a bar. When I went saturday night they had a bunch of outside bars open which was a great idea. I am sure I will be back here for another drink next time I am in town.

*Review for bar only* This place used to be called Backyard – today it has the exact same bar setup as before, with just a little more outdoor seating available. Great place to come with a group as it has a large outdoor yard/patio area with tons of seating available. Some nights they will have live bands play which is always a good time.

Pizza is delicious, ambiance is great and has the added entertainment factor of watching the antics at the biltmore next door. All the servers are really nice; came today and had a girl named river. Definitely request her if you can– extremely patient and attentive.

We ordered the Buddhist pie, Maui Maui, and a pitcher of beer. I did not have any of the Maui Maui but I loved the Buddhist pie, eating it again the same night later on(boxed up leftovers). I was surprised by how good peanuts are on pizza, definitely worth a try. The atmosphere is great too. Very bar-like and woodsy. Our server was also friendly, checking in on us without becoming overly attentive(& we were there for awhile). He also provided the recommendation for Maui Maui. Overall a tasty, happy experience!

The pizza is delicious but I’d like to review the bar here, if I may. The bar has great raw materials(solid beer list; reasonably priced cocktails; really good music; classic look with lots of wood, exposed brick and cool posters everywhere; friendly bartenders; two different outdoor areas)…the only thing keeping it from being the place to go on The Corner is a decent crowd.(It’s been pretty sleepy all of the times I’ve been there.) Hopefully by the time . classes resume, word will have gotten out that there’s a new, slightly classier, slightly more sophisticated option for nights out on The Corner.

Servers could not have been friendlier or more attentive. Good salads, very solid pizza, great outdoor seating and a small but tasty list of beers. Great addition to The Corner!

Had heard about the main place in crozet but had yet to make the trip there. Was very glad when they opened here. Food: Really excellent pizza. I love the toppings offered at Christians, but this tasted a lot fresher and they had great dough. We had the white pizza. It was delicious and the ingredients worked really well together. Also had the spicy margarita. That was delicious. Definitely spicy as advertised so beware. Atmosphere: Also, the porch was really pleasant on a sunny, not-too-humid day. Lots of shade or sun options. Service: Our service was excellent as well. Very nice and willing to explain any questions we had. Cannot wait to go back.

It’s rumored that this place is closing soon; I’m not terribly surprised. Basically, you get pizzas with what appear and taste like average-quality ingredients. The crust is of uneven thickness and the sauce is of uneven distribution and often insufficient given the somewhat thick(compared to NY style) crust. First time, last time. Two stars only because Charlottesville has terrible pizza options.

I love Christians – it reminds me of my favorite pizza place at home. So naturally, coming here, all I was going to do was compare it to Christians. I had heard good things about Crozet before, and being the huge pizza fan I am, I was excited to come. I didn’t feel wow-ed by Crozet in any way. I split a large cheese pizza with two other friends, and it was just okay. The crust was good, the sauce was nothing stand out, but I have an issue with the cheese. It congealed and dried up so quickly that by the time I finished my first slice and was ready to move on to my second slice, I didn’t get the same stringy, gooey, cheese pizza experience – I kind of had the second-day, dried-cheese, cheese pizza experience instead, if you know what I mean. On top of things, the pizza was around $ 14 – all I could think about was how I could get a better cheese pizza at Christians for much less. Oh well. Service was fine. I might come back to Crozet again to try a different pizza combination, but for now, my first visit had me questioning why I hadn’t chosen Christians over Crozet for pizza that night.

Often, you read these reviews with a grain of salt and justify giving a place a shot anyway. Maybe the server had a bad night. Perhaps there was a new cook in the kitchen. It’s possible they’ve fixed the problems. If you’re thinking these things as you read this right now, I’m here to confirm a lot of the gripes from earlier posts are still alive and well. Too much oregano. Check. Nonexistent service. Check. Expensive. Check.(I think we were even charged $.50 to swap out onions with black olives on a specialty pizza.) 7th best pizza in Charlottesville(funny, by the way). Check. They do have a good beer selection, and the atmosphere is mellow, so all is not lost. Nonetheless, Charlottesville has so much to offer that we probably won’t be back. 3 stars is generous, but 2 is too low.

When opening a secondary location, many diners will complain that is isn’t the same as the original — if you go in expecting the exact same experience at Crozet Pizza’s new Corner location, you’ll be sorely disappointed. If you are looking for fantastic service, comfortable outdoor seating and the same great product, then you’ll be all smiles! I appreciated being able to do a half & half of their specialty pizzas and since I visited on IPA day(Aug 1), a picture full of Champion Missile IPA was perfect after a group run. The service was fantastic, but I do have to acknowledge the fact that I visited before undergraduates returned to Charlottesville. We had pitchers of water brought to our table… it is the little things that make a difference. Since I didn’t go inside, I can’t comment on the atmosphere there, but my parents actually went inside early in the evening and mentioned there was limited seating(maybe 20). Oh, and they take credit cards too. I’m sure there will be plenty of discussion on who has the best pizza in the area and I’m a big fan of the original location, but simply put — I was very impressed with my experience and the food within their first month of their opening.

Seeing Backyard go was very sad, but Crozet Pizza did a good job of sprucing the place up while keeping it relatively true to its roots. The place is more of a «chill» bar than its Corner peers, and has a really nice vibe. We finally got to try it out for an extended evening of dinner/drinking.(I had tried to come in the past, but eventually left after an hour of waiting when we found out that the host, who had continually assured us we would be seated soon, had lost the list of waiting guests). The menu is strange. There’s pizzas and a couple salads, and that’s that.(No appetizers, sides, etc.) I wouldn’t put much weight into the pre-selected pies, which are pretty unexciting. There’s a giant toppings list, so just make your own, The pizza itself is very good. Nothing special, but the toppings are fresh, the crust is good, and it’s cooked in a more«authentic» way than Mellow. The prices are great, especially when I compare it to DC. ~15 dollar pitchers of rotating decent beers, 5 dollar cocktails, and 15 dollar pizzas with toppings. The service was laughably terrible. Paper plates? Strange, but whatever. Long waits? It’s a college town, sure. But come on. Crozet Pizza only serves pizza, but doesn’t own those little pizza stackers that lift them off the table. The waitress basically moved our plates to the corner of the table and stuck 2 pizzas down instead, which was hilarious. We found another table to bring over to put the pies on. We ordered drinks, which sat at the bar for LITERALLY10 minutes until I decided to go get them myself. This happened twice. She’d disappear for huge periods of time, then come back and ask us if we wanted the check(«NO! We want to order more things again!») Maybe our graduation made us snobby… but that was all brutal. If you’re going to hang out, eat pizza, and drink in a relaxed atmosphere… and see past the service issues, Crozet Pizza’s great.

We loved this place when it first opened. The crust was spot on, and the pizza overall was divine. Today we took our pizza to-go, and the crust was decidedly soggy. The bartender and manager were very nice and helpful, and the atmosphere is nice. Please bring back the good crust!

Too much oregano on the pizza. Also not worth how overly expensive it is. Probably better to share a large pizza. Just remember to ask for no oregano.

Mellow atmosphere, attentive service, reasonable prices, fun drinks selection, very good pizza. What’s not to like? The foundation of a pizza is the crust of course, and Crozet gets it pretty right. Ours arrived light, crispy and not too thick, which means you don’t get a mouthful of bread when what you’re really looking for is a carrier for the flavors and textures of your toppings. We went with a custom job(feta, garlic, portobello, ½ spinach) and inhaled every slice. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and drinks, and able to provide background info on all of them. Turns out some of our beers were from the third keg ever(?!?) brewed by the brand-new Three Notch’d, which definitely bears following if you have the inclination. I would recommend CPBB for any group looking for a casual, tasty dinner. P. S. We sat outside under an umbrella. Another group of diners outside had chosen a table without an umbrella. During their meal there was some sort of squirrel altercation or ineptitude in the branches above them, and some branches and leaves dropped right into their dinner. Pretty funny for us! Not so much for them. Bottom line, choose an umbrella if you can. Squirrels are insane.

This place is great! We ate here for dinner and brought our large dog. The staff was super friendly and even brought her a bowl of water. I got the«Great White» pizza which is essentially a white pizza. The small was actually pretty huge and there was plenty left to take home. The crust was awesome and the pizza was really tasty, although a bit greasy, but hey it is pizza. My boyfriend and a friend got the«Meat Lovers» pizza which they said was really good. Plenty of toppings and good sized pizzas. The service was really friendly and pretty efficient. Great spot on the corner with nice outdoor seating!
