Took my family out to dinner on a Wednesday, our 6 year old had the kid sushi plate and ate every bite. Come before 7 for the happy hour and half price draft beers. Service was on point, we ordered family style and we were never without something delicious in front of us. We had rolls, hand rolls, ramen, tempura, and fried ice cream, all just right. First time, we will definitely be back.

This place has improved a lot since they moved from their location by the aquarium. Especially with customer service. their sushi is good, but not as good as Sushi Nabe.

A complete delight. The wait staff very tentative. The food was delicious. Had four different rolls, appetizers and drinks as well as dessert. Can not wait to go back.

Great place! Stopped in for a late night snack. Sushi was great, so was our waitress. We just moved here and have been searching for somewhere to get some damn good sushi– we found that and excellent service. We tried a few other places, where we were kind of blown off, food was forgotten, or the sushi just wasn’t very good. Sekisui made us feel welcome, gave us some killer food(plus the chef threw in some fresh and delicious seaweed salad) and they weren’t dicks about– god forbid– enjoying us being there. We will totally be back– thanks yall!

Friday sushi buffet 11 – 2 is pretty good. Allows you to sample many different kinds of sushi. It would be nice if they would label them so the ones I liked then I would be familiar with to order next time. The sushi was good. There’s also noodles, wings, and spring rolls to try and fresh fruit and a pastry for dessert. The ambiance at this location is nice although the music was very loud. It is a bit pricey at $ 12.95 but is all you can eat.

Sekisui has some of the better sushi in Chattanooga, in my opinion. They have some specials that are a really good deal, too. The fish tasted fresh, which is important. I have always been pleased with my experiences there and am a repeat customer.

Great sushi. My son even loved his chicken from kids menu! Fresh tasting and presented well. We walked so didn’t have the parking issues of some. I only gave 4 stars due to friendliness of staff. Our server was fairly friendly but otherwise no one else spoke. As we were leaving they all just looked at us. NO «thank you for coming,» «have a nice evening» — NOTHING. Entire visit felt like staff was annoyed

Let’s start by saying that the atmosphere is great and we enjoyed having our own somewhat private room in the back for our group. When the drinks came, they were nothing short of bad — missing the cranberry juice on a cranberry and vodka — wait, what? How does that happen? Not to mention that they called last call at 10(they close at 10:30 on a Saturday) but the waitress failed to mention the last call. The place doesn’t turn into a bar after the restaurant closes — the whole place shuts down at 10:30. So why is there a last call at 10? When there’s no true bar? No idea. But the bartender refused to make any more drinks after 10pm. Period. Now on to the food — overall not bad, sushi was excellent but when you order a seafood dish with mussels you would expect to get more than 2 mussels ready to eat in the shell. The other 5 mussels hadn’t opened their shells and therefore no way to consume. One of our friends took no more than 3 or 4 bites of her food, but she’s a very polite and quiet person so not exactly sure what the story was, but it was obvious that she was not liking her dish. When these issues were brought up to management, we were told that the owner was not there and the manager in charge had no authority to change, edit, remove, or discount anything without the owner’s approval, and of course the owner couldn’t be reached. As an owner, wouldn’t you want to be in your restaurant on one of your busiest nights of the week? Or at least be reachable if none of your staff has the authority to make any decisions? To sum it up, out of our party of 6, we will never return to Sekisui. Too many other incredible restaurants out there in Chattanooga with much better food and drinks.

Beware! Parking is NOLONGERFREE! Did not see the sign or the meter that was almost 50 feet away from the restaurant and parking entrance. Very pricey mistake! Overall, restaurant price is okay, especially if you go for the early bird special. Sushi is decent, nothing special. I like the ambience, but service can be very slow at times(even when it does not seem busy). During my past couple of visits, I noticed that the server’s fingers are VERY close to dipping into the soup and salad when they place it in front of me. I prefer Totto’s, but still come to Sekisui on occasion.

Valentine’s meal here was okay but not great. Sushi and appetizers were on the table less than five minutes before the main course was served. The sushi gets mixed reviews and the same goes for the chicken teriyaki. One of my dinner companions ordered surf and turf and was only brought turf. Another if my companions ordered fried rice with no egg but was not accommodated. The restaurant didn’t appear real busy so I can’t make that excuse for them. Likely, will not be back.

Japanese and sushi in a contemporary setting. Beautiful presentation. Good service — polite but slow. Slow in the«take your time» sense not in the«people called off» sense. We will be back.

The food was decent but not outstanding. The service was poor today. I’ve been assured by some of my dining partners that this was unusual service performance. The price was reasonable and I will give them another opportunity.

Nice place with lots of parking. Server was very nice but she did not know the menu, we asked for sushi that would have hot peppers and she mention the Mexico’s team, we ordered and no peppers, I asked for shrimp tempura roll(I get this one at every sushi place I visit) she came with pain shrimp tempura. The flavors need a little improvements.

Great service very poor quality dinner. Price was good too but the chicken was really poor, odd flavor and very«fatty». Server was great to take it back but very disappointed manager never came by, I had to ask for it to be taken off the bill. Handled poorly. Where is a manager I am 1 of 5 tables and only 2 folks at bar. Restaurant is 80% empty at 6:35pm for dinner.

South side of downtown — with free parking — a pretty nice place all in all. For the food — The salad’s tasty with good carrot/ginger dressing. The miso soup may have been slightly on the salty side, but still was nice. For tempura, I’ve become a bit nervous to see what restaurants do, but thankfully Sekisui seems to have the sides right: Depending on where you go — tempura will come with some sort of sweet dipping sauce instead of what’s normally used in Japan — tsuyu. Thankfully, the tempura here was served with tsuyu, so I can keep this on my list. The tempura itself was pretty good, but could perhaps improve a little on the battering. Of the sushi, the tuna and hamachi were really good. The saba was served with a lot of stuff ontop of it — which is a bit worrisome — as one would think they’re trying to mask the smell/flavor of old fish… as a result — hard to report back on the saba. The atmosphere’s pretty cool — black tables, sushi bar, some TV screens going on the walls. Service was nice and efficient as well. So far this has been my best Japanese food experience in Chattanooga — so I’ll be back.

One start is too generous!!! One of THE most awful dining experiences I have ever had. I want to be fair here so I will start with what was good… the atmosphere, the wine list, and the Rock n Roll roll. When we entered(at 6:54pm) we asked if we could still take advantage of the early dinner special(ends at 7pm) and the hostesses said that we could, so we decided to stay. The place was practically empty but they drug their feet in getting my family of 4 a table. Of all of the open tables, we were sat in the sun and it seemed like a big deal to move over 1 table. It took 13 minutes for the server to make an appearance to take a drink order and then at least that long to get the drinks. When she delivered them, she was obviously carrying too much b/c she spilled another table’s beer on our table. Granted, it was only a little bit but she couldn’t be bothered to wipe it up. We started to order from the early dinner special menu and she stopped us and said we were too late for that. I told her the hostesses said we could and that’s why we stayed. She said the computer system wouldn’t allow it but that she could ask and finished taking our order. The owner of the restaurant came over and lectured us like we were his teenage children… «I’ll do it this one time, but not again!» To make this already long story short, the shrimp teriyaki had 4 shrimp, 1 piece of broccoli and was not even remotely warm. The spicy tuna roll had a strange texture to it and the service continued to plummet. I have been to Sekisui several times and the service has never been great but this was IT for us. Their food isn’t good enough to make up for it. We will never return.

The coolest place in Chattanooga. Great sushi and great atmosphere!
