this place is now closed. They went through some ups and downs on food quality(hard to believe but this place used to be excellent but that’s going back 10+ years). The last several years were steadily downhill and it became a place that wasn’t even on the last resort list. Anyway it is now closed and there is a for lease sign in the window. As alternates try Sichuan Palace on Summer St, or Sichuan Gourmet in Billerica(about as authentic Sichuan style as you’ll find, not the places for your standard Americanized style Chinese). Those have their place too and for that China Star, And xiangs are both good options.

Ewww no no no no… just NO. Sweet and sour chicken was tooth achingly sweets… and the chicken itself was so tough and tasted really funny. Lo mien was unlike any I’ve ever had and not really in a good way. The spring roll was decent but the fried wantons are just that… just rolled up fried wanton wrappers… no filling or sauce just basically crackers. Delivery was fast and friendly but the food was not worth it.

I stopped at Fresh Chow for lunch takeout recently. The place is very casual, which is order at the counter with self serve table seating and a TV in the dining area. The kitchen is behind a revolving door. The lunch combination plate specials here are offered daily until 3PM($ 4.95-$ 7.75), prices goes up slightly after 3PM($ 6.50-$ 8.50). I ordered the C18 Szechuan Shrimp($ 6.25-lunch) with meatless lomein and 2 chicken teriyakis. The food was cooked to order and ready to go in about 10 minutes. The service was pleasant. The main dish had a mix of firm tender shrimp(cleaned), fresh snow peas, carrots, red peppers, broccoli, celery, water chesnuts, and preserved mushrooms in a mild spicy oily sauce. The meatless lo mein had a mix of thin chow mei fun noodles, carrots, onion, sprouts, and scallions. The chicken teriyaki sticks each had three meaty pieces of chargrilled marinated boneless chicken. The food I had tasted fresh with good flavors and the portion of food was just right for lunch.

Very quick delivery, pleasant delivery person. Good was hot and fresh! Veggie delight didn’t come with brown rice, that’s my only complaint.

I just ordered take out House Pan Thai the shrimp was very old and way over cooked. The noodles had good flavor. I would not order it again. Also it was very cold in the building.

We used to love fresh chow. We’ve been getting take out from them here and there over the last 10 years. They always had awesome crab rangoon and ginger scallion lomein. After a hiatus of about 6 months, we ordered from them last Friday, ½/15. While delivery was lightening fast, the food was very bad. I don’t know why, but they do not even serve the same food anymore. The rangoons were much different and thin and not as good and the lomein was HORRIBLE!!! It was drastically different than their old ginger scallion lomein. More like vegetable lomein with some ginger tossed in and a terrible thick dark brown sauce added. So gross. The rest of the stuff we ordered was very mediocre. Spring rolls were the best thing we ordered but they were very greasy. I was extremely ill the next day for only 24 hrs and I truly believe I had food poisoning. Yuck!!! That was our last time ordering. The End.

I ordered delivery and it came sooner than expected. Food was wonderful but the man that delivered it was on the phone from the minute he knocked on my door to the minute he walked away. He was very loud, he did not speak one word to me or make eye contact. Extremely rude!

I had a disappointing evening, which had nothing to do with this take away restaurant, but the food was the capstone of a downer day. I am not a Chinese food fan. Those who regularly read my reviews know why and I won’t go into it again. However, Chinese restaurants tend to be open late and I needed a late bit of food. I generally find Chinese restaurant appetizers a good choice. Admittedly, there are as many versions of dishes like scallion pancakes as there are cooks preparing them. Ditto crab rangoon. Because of that, those two dishes are good indicators of the quality of a restaurant. I went in to order some appetizers but a main dish — beef ribs with vegetables — caught my eye. I order the beef ribs and scallion pancakes and crab rangoon. The best of the lot was the beef ribs. However, had there been a star or some mark that the dish is hot, I would never have ordered it as I have some GI problems. It clearly was a hot dish. Furthermore, green peppers and onions do not really qualify as «with vegetables» in my mind. The crab rangoon were simply ordinary. However, the scallion pancakes were disgusting. Now, some restaurants make scallion pancakes almost like an omelet while others make them like a crêpe. They are almost always sauteed. These were deep fried. The circles of batter — thick and totally lacking in delicacy or flavor — were cut into wedges and deepfried. Yuck. There was no life left in the batter which I suspect was never tasty to begin with. I have no desire to return.

Ordered sesame beef combo and cashew chicken combo. Both were awful. Everything was over cooked and tasted the same as everything else. Fried rice was mush. Are there any decent Chinese restaurants in Chelmsford?

We tried this place for the first time and ordered delivery. It was a success! The delivery came quicker than they estimated and the food was delish. I’m not a huge Chinese food fan, but the moo shi pork and steak teriyaki were fantastic.

Why do they have so many good reviews? I drive by 2 or 3 times a day and they are always dead. They have no customers. The food is blan and need to be fixed. They staff is the worest. They need to fix alot before I return.

Love it. Get the salt and pepper calamari. ^_^ Ps. To the other reviewer, who gets Thai food at a Chinese restaurant? d:

Still real bad food. Not worth the walk across the parking lot. It is almost like the cook and owners have given up.

This is a very good Chinese restaurant for takeout food. The interior is small and only has a few tables for eating in. They have a wide range of dishes, all filled with hot crispy vegetables. The sauces are flavorful, not too hot or overloaded with soy.

Pretty good for the price although orange chicken could have been better. Great fried shrimp. Also good sized and fresh portions

The fried shrimp wasn’t terrible, but the woman at the front desk was rude, they didn’t serve me any bread(not even after I asked for it), and the beef with oyster was absolutely disgusting. (I tried this place based on the 3-star rating it received here. From now on, I will read the filtered reviews before I try another Unilocal-reviewed restaurant.)

I like this place. Some dishes like squid must be avoided at all cost, but bitter melon w/beef and eggplant with beef are both very good. Their pork chop is quite authentic HK-style too. Portion is on the big side which is nice. Major suggestion is that they can try to chop up the meat and veggie into smaller pieces. But all in all, very good and inexpensive Chinese food.

Very good, and consistent quality. There’s only a couple things here to stay away from — the sesame chicken was something I ordered once and never again. The egg rolls and beef dishes are always fantastic though. Their beef with broccoli is a consistent favorite of mine. Their delivery is prompt and reliable — these guys make for a great rainy Friday delivery choice. It’s also pretty cheap for the quality — you can get dinner for under under $ 10 a person and be very full afterwards.

There’s cheap Chinese take out and there’s Fresh Chow’s Chinese take out. The food comes to you promptly and is better than average when it comes to other Chinese restaurants. Their selection of different foods is great too. There’s something for everyone. They even have a more authentic Chinese food selection.
