I pass by this place a lot while going to work. It’s located in a strip mall with other restaurants and stuff. I ordered take out twice, both being their famous Jerk Chicken. Both times I ordered mild, and it was nice and mild. I will order spicy next time. The jerk chicken is $ 13, but it comes with a ton of rice and beans, some fried plantains(i think), and 4 chicken thighs or legs. The chicken is a bit dry, but the tenderness more than makes up for it. The rice and beans had a good heat to it, and did not get overly salty while eating. The flavor of the chicken is also nice… I’ve never had Jamaican food before, so I can’t compare it to others, but I can say that the bar is set high. Only complaints are that the lady that took my ordered over the phone was a bit blunt, but I overlooked that when I came in and saw that the restaurant was half full at 3pm(typically slow for restaurants). The restaurant itself is actually pretty messy, so I would probably never eat in, but for take out, it was a pretty good experience. ps, they use cling film over the take out container to keep the food warmer longer, really thoughtful. There are some other restaurants in the strip, and will be giving those a try as well.

This review should be 5 stars, but I had to give it 4 because of the waitress. She was inexpressive, no greeting what so ever, and barely gave my table any attention. Not once did she ever come by to refill my water. There was another waitress there who seemed very friendly and upbeat to her tables. Shame. Cause the food was superb.

Not too many people eating in on a Tuesday night but there were many people coming in for take-out. I was disappointed with the jerk chicken. It tasted like a rotisserie chicken with little flavor. The rice and peas and plantains that came with dinner were good. The rice and peas were subtly seasoned with a little tingle of heat. My friend had the curry goat. The meat was tender and had good curry flavor. My friend had the better meal. I might come back so I can have that dish to myself.

I’ve been here twice, both using Groupons. First time was amazing. There were no limitations on the Groupon(1 app, 2 entrees, 2 drinks) and we got the jerk wings(not great, but good), the oxtail, and the goat curry(both incredible). Got Ting to drink, which is delicious. When I saw another Groupon, I jumped on it thinking it was the same, but I hadn’t read the fine print, which limits you to only chicken entrees(which are $ 12 each), an app(not sure if there are limits on this, too, since they only had mac and cheese $ 5 and jerk chicken wings $ 7 available, and who wants wings when your entrees are chicken, also), and the two drinks are bottled water or their $ 1 standard sodas. So, for a $ 34 Groupon that’s supposed to be worth $ 50 of food, the most you can possibly spend is… wait for it…$ 33. WTF??? This is clearly false advertising and I might report them to Groupon because that’s ridiculous. On to the food, the chicken in brown sauce was pretty tender and very tasty. Needed more sauce, as there basically wasn’t any. The jerk chicken was overcooked, dry and flavorless. The jerk seasoning didn’t penetrate the meat at all. Guess we got a bad batch, but I wouldn’t order it again knowing that it’s a possibility it’ll be bad. We opted for the mac and cheese, which was just ok. Nothing to write home about. I paid $ 1.50 extra so I could have a Ting soda. If I lived next door, I might order something from here occasionally, but it’s about 25 minutes away, so I doubt I’ll return. And I don’t appreciate the dishonesty in regards to the Groupon.

I’m giving one star because the food(jerk chicken & stewed brown chicken, cabbage, and plantains) was at least decent. The service, however, was quite possibly some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. And beware Groupon users. They no longer honor the«pay $ 30 and get $ 50 worth» deal. Even though the waitress said they did when we sat down. I’d write more, but I’ve wasted enough time already on this place. What a shame!

They are absolutely delicious!!! I’ve only had patties and plantains thus far but both are to die for. They have a curry chicken patty that truly makes me wanna marry the cook because it so flavorful, not greasy, and well proportioned with bread and meat. I’ve also had their jerk chicken patty and that’s really good also. I’m really interested in trying their oxtails because I heard they were delicious and they aren’t very pricey at all, patties are only $ 2…

I used to frequent West Indian restaurants in Brooklyn when I lived in New York, so perhaps I’m a little biased. The food here was ok, not great. I ordered curry chicken and a spicy beef patty. The beef patty was good – absolutely no complaints. The chicken was under-seasoned; I wanted to be blown away by flavor, I wasn’t. The cabbage was also under-seasoned but it seemed fresh which is always a good thing. The sweet plantains weren’t very sweet and I was also disappointed in the rice and peas. My favorite part about Jamaican rice and peas is the coconut essence… and I didn’t detect any coconut at all. I was excited to see that they have roti. I didn’t get it this time but if I’m go back I’ll try it with the jerk chicken(that everyone seems to rave about – we’ll see). Other than the food the service was fine. Nothing great but nothing to complain about either. There was music playing and it was a little loud but I didn’t mind it… I guess it could have been annoying if I was eating in and conversing but I got my food to go. I plan on coming back and giving the jerk chicken a try.

Little Negril opened on South street and I was excited to try it. I ordered goat curry and jerk chicken as take out for my husband and I. My husband said he would not eat the goat because it was red and goat is not that color. I tried both orders and noticed that I did not feel well all evening. By 6am, I was on the toilet and had bad diarrhea and had to throw up. The following day my stomach was still upset. I would definitely not eat there again and do not wish my experience on anyone.

Okay maybe it’s just my experience but I can’t understand how this place has all 4 stars unless they have improved. I lived in Jamaica for years, and I visit Montego Bay and Negril every year. This is home cooked food. I ordered jerk chicken with brown rice and cabbage. The chicken was so hard, I couldn’t chew it. The cabbage was old and disgusting and the rice was dry. It honestly looked and tasted as if it was cooked days before and it was leftovers being served. I took it to go and spent over $ 28 in food to come home and literally throw it all in the trash. We didn’t even touch the second platter. There’s a reason why they are on groupon. I wasn’t mad but very disappointed and felt used. I will never eat there again after my first impression and experience.

Ok I just literally took a bite of the curry chicken patty… Can you say delicious is an understatement??? It’s perfectly fried, beautifully coated and smells like love. Plus I have an order of fried plantains that also smell and taste like absolute love… First time there and if this little appetizer I got has me this happy, imagine when I get a full entrée… Curry Goat, your next!

This jamaican restaurant may be great for people who dosent like spicy food but like jamaican flavors. I found their food little blend. Jerk chicken lacked spiciness. Oxtail stew became little chewy at the end. Half of their menu was unavailable. Didn’t have any fish or Mac & cheese. Anyway service was great. My recommendation would be ask the chef to make your food spicy if you want. They deserve 3 star for my experience but still leaving 4 because they can become 4 star quality place.

I came here with my family with a Groupon. Be warned that you can only get chicken entrees with this deal. This place has me LOVING Jamaican food — very unique flavors and a little on the spicy side. We got a few chicken dishes. Our appetizer was the jerk chicken wings, and our entrees were jerk chicken, brown stewed chicken, and curry chicken. The stewed chicken didn’t sound that great by its description, but believe me it is the best out of those dishes. It had a wonderful savory flavor(not spicy and very flavorful), and it was such a comfort food, that it had me wanting to recreate this dish so badly at home. I want to go back there JUST for that dish. The ambience could use a little work and it’s a very small place, but the people who work there are really nice. The owner came over and talked to us for awhile. He made us feel right at home.

Jamaican cuisine might be one of my new favorites thanks to this lovely little place. This specific restaurant location has turned over quite a few times(previously Asian and Thai before that) so I came here with very low expectations! If you’re okay with having chicken, get the Groupon, because it’s worth it but has a catch that you can only use it on chicken dishes. I’ve read from previous reviews that the fish is also very good. Anyway, we got the $ 50 one that gives you 4 entrées an appetizer and 4 non alcoholic drinks. The Food App: Jerk Chicken Wings — Excellent, spicy but like a peppery spicy, probably a 5 or 6 out of 10 on the heat scale. So much flavor! Entrée 1: Curry Chicken entrée — Very good, reminded me a lot of an Indian curry. Entrée 2&3: Jerk Chicken entrée — Amazing just like all of the reviews said. If you like dishes with a lot of flavor and heat, you will love this. Also, if you’re getting this entrée you could probably skip the Jerk Wings, they’re very similar in flavor. Entrée 4: Brown Stew — This dish was our favorite, by far!!! We almost didn’t order it, based on the name… Brown Stew? Haha. But we were SO glad that we did. It was much milder than the Jerk Chicken entrée but just had a wonderful savory flavor. My mouth is watering just thinking about this dish. The meat was cooked perfectly(for all three dishes actually)! All of them also came with cooked cabbage, «dirty» rice(rice with seasoning and beans) and plantains. Generous portions — we had leftovers! Décor /Ambience As we walked in we were greeted with the sound of island music, which instantly puts you in a relaxed mood. It’s a smaller restaurant but can accommodate a large group, too. My only complaint with this establishment is that a few of the things at the table were dirty(placemat, plate, cloth napkin). This is a HUGE turn off for me, being a germapahobe :(I would normally write a restaurant off but I will say the food made up for this. Service Servers were friendly and food came out quickly! The icing on the cake was the owner, Patrick, who came around to check on guests every once in awhile. He was so friendly and knowledgeable about food. After a while, I forgot that I was at a restaurant, it felt more like I was in Jamaica at Patrick’s house, just hanging out and eating great food. Overall, love this place. Great service, fantastic food all for a great price. I would definitely dine here again! :)

Had a Groupon for this place previously and tried the oxtails with butter beans. They were just ok. This time I just stopped in after I saw sweet potato cheesecake on the menu. Ordered two jerk chicken platters with two slices of sweet potato cheesecake. I somehow racked up a $ 34 tab. Looked at my receipt and realized their sweet potato cheesecake slices are $ 4.00 per slice. That’s pretty steep considering the slices are NOT that big. My jerk chicken was nice and spicy. Wasn’t too fond of the cabbage though. Sweet potato cheesecake was good, but I won’t be paying $ 4.00 per slice again.

If you are planning on trying this humble Jamaican joint that is located in a strip mall, do your wallet a favor and purchase a groupon. The deal will get you an app, 2 chicken entrees and 2 drinks for about $ 25. Based on the moderate cost and tasty food I would like to award this place 4 stars, but service kept it in the 3 star range. Of the listed apps, only half were available, we selected fried shrimp, not sure of any Island twist to this dish, but they were good, small in size but great crispy breading. We also shared a beef patty, this was really good and something you might want to purchase a few of for lunches or late night snacks. My gf ordered jerk chicken, it was the non spiced up version and was moist and flavorful. My choice was curry chicken and I loved it, the chicken had obviously been simmered in the sauce for sometime, and was fall off the bone(of which there was quite a bit) delicious. Both dishes came with rice and peas as well as fried plantains and tasty cabbage with a slight curry flavor. All sides were good. Service was friendly(for the most part) but confused. We placed our order 3 times, first with the very sweet waitress. Then twice with what appeared to be the owner or manager. The first 2 times didn’t seem to be enough since a table that was seated 15 minutes after us received their meals before us. It was then that the manager came over a third time to ask what we ordered. He didn’t seem to be apologetic, or even very friendly toward us. I ordered roti, but never received it, and was not charged. The patty was also not on the check. I might consider coming again with groupon in hand, but to be honest I would most likely try the Vietnamese place that is in the same strip mall first. 3.5 Jah Unilocal

My jerk chicken dish was delicious as was the beef patty. The rice and peas were good as well … and even the pineapple soda. Great music and pleasant(small) atmosphere. The only thing was the service — nice staff when they surfaced but we were asked three times what our order was and saw the table right next to us, who came later then us, served before us!?! We didn’t get it. Based on food taste only wb a 4 – 5 for me but the whole experience wb a 3 – 4. Idk — what a shame bc the food is really good. Maybe just an off night? I’ll selfishly give them one more shot when I’m in the mood for some fine Jamaican food but if we’re treated the same way — done!

I haven’t really been satisfied with the state of Jamaican food in the area since the pink truck closed down. There is a place I enjoy in Sicklerville, but that is a hike. It is a blessing to discover an establishment located no more than 15 minutes from my home. I purchased a $ 30 Groupon that afforded us one appetizer, 2 drinks, and two entrees, pretty much a sign that there was no better time to see what this place was about. After reading the reviews the choice was easy. We started our dining service sharing a chicken patty as an appetizer. We agreed that we should have ordered something else. For starters the patty wasn’t warm enough but most importantly it lacked flavor. The crust and the filling were bland. In regards to our entrees, I decided to order a dish that I haven’t had in such a long time; oxtails. The wife got her standard jerk chicken. Each entrée was served with a heaping portion of peas & rice, cabbage, and plantain. The oxtails were not bad but, I would probably go with a different entrée next time. The jerk chicken was good. It was cooked and seasoned just right. The wife doesn’t like spicy food so the mild dish was good for her. I would probably order the jerk chicken during next visit but instead of the mild version, request the spicy chicken instead. Give a take a few things; I can say with absolute that we both were pretty satisfied with our meal and overall dining experience. The restaurant is nice and the service is good. Little Negril seems like a decent place and I will certainly dine there again. Some reviews mention the music. I want to hear a little more Freddie McGregor, Dennis Brown, or Jah Cure next time I dine there.

The food is good, and the service could be a tad better, just depends really on how many people are in the restaurant at the time. The owner is really nice. He comes around and makes sure your ok. Its BYOB, and close to home good location. Good selection of Jamaican drinks. Tryw the festival, they are really good. The ginger beer is good. I don’t know if its homemade or not, but worth trying. On another note: my sister is a Pescetarian(vegetarian that eats fish & seafood). Whenever she comes with us to eat here, they never have fish available, or shrimp. There are fish and seafood items on the menu, but they never have them.

We stopped in a Little Negril the other night. Little Negril is in a strip mall on Route 38 close to the Cherry Hill mall. There are a couple of other restaurants located in the same strip mall. Little Negril is very bright inside and clean. There are some pictures of Jamaica and Reggae music was playing. There were several Caribbean customers also dining when we there. The service was very good and the manager was very informative and friendly. I used to travel the Caribbean quite a bit for work and I always liked the food. I was happy to see Little Negril open in Cherry Hill. I had a Spicy Beef patty. This is sort of like a turn over with spicy meat inside. These things are great and really hit the spot. We also had the Jerk Chicken platter, this was very good. The chicken was juicy and the Jerk spices had a nice punch. The platter came with rice and peas(Red Kidney Beans) plantains, and cabbage. My wife had the Curried Goat which was also very good. For dessert we had the Mango-Coconut cheesecake. This was a very good dessert, not too dense or overly sweet. Little Negril is a really nice addition to growing variety of restaurant choices in South Jersey. We will certainly be back.

This restaurant is in a little strip mall on Route 38, across the street from Cherry Hill Nissan, kinda, you will miss it if you arent looking. My wife and I stopped in for dinner. My first observation was that there was a nice crowd of fellow diners in here. I always say an empty parking lot and empty restaurant is a bad sign! I had the Mild Beef patty and Boudin for an appetizer. My wife had the Jerk Chicken wings and a mild Beef Patty also. The main course I had Garlic Shrimp, with rice and beans and also cabbage. I really enjoyed my meal. My wife had the Curry Chicken with beans and rice and also cabbage. We both enjoyed our meals. My wife like spicey food more than me, she wished that her food had a little more«heat». For dessert we had the Sweet Potato cheesecake. That cheesecake is on point! I recommend trying it! Patrick, the owner takes pride in what he and his staff does.
