Been here multiple times and the food is consistently excellent. The service is first class also. I would definitely recommend Domo.

My husband and I heard that Domo was equivalent if not better than Oishi sushi… Since we LOVE Oishi, we thought we’d give Domo a try… Unfortunately, the sushi quality is not anywhere near Oishi if you are into raw fish rather than just crab filled tempura rolls. The spicy tuna hand rolls were the best of the food we tried, but just OL. We also ordered sashimi deluxe and received nigiri. The service was excellent, really nice people, however didn’t make up for the sushi.

First off I have to start by saying I have only had take out from Domo(so I can’t evaluate the service or ambiance of the restaurant). I have jumped around through the menu of the roll specialties. My last order and my favorites are the butterfly roll and the shrimp tempura roll. They were well made tightly rolled with fresh tasting(and smelling) ingredients. Having said that, Domo is not churning out top notch sushi rolls. The texture of the rice is lacking and is missing that slight vinegar and sticky feeling of really good sushi rice. I also find the rolls to be slightly salty. I’m not sure why they have this saltiness but it’s often a strong flavor in anything«spicy». The salty flavor of the rolls means I use less soy sauce but still it’s an off flavor than doesn’t belong. I also enjoy the tuna and salmon sushi deluxe which consists of 5 pieces each of what the menu states is «best grade» tuna and salmon sushi. This comes with a miso soup but that’s it and it’s current cost is $ 18.50. For the price and to suit the name deluxe… it should at least come with soup and salad or with a side of California roll. It may not be a deal based on price but it is tasty although, it’s really just sushi with nothing special — just fish on rice so if a restaurant can mess that up I definitely wouldn’t return. Overall, this is a decent enough sushi place. It’s good enough that it’s in my list of places to get takeout on the way home from work but not so good that I will go out of my way to eat here. I have to say, I’m not disappointed by Domo but if this place weren’t right on my way from work I probably wouldn’t eat there. The only sushi place in chesapeake that is worth a drive is Hanaki in the Harris Teeter shopping center on Hanbury Rd… every other sushi place just can’t measure up. I give Domo a 3, it’s good but not great, consistent but not outstanding.(I eat at the Gainsborough square location of Domo, I have never tried the other locations-Granby St, Ocean Front, Princess Anne)

I’ve been putting off this review for a long time, and I regret my decision to. Let me start by saying the first time I ate here was lunch with a friend. We were so impressed that we told another friend and then came back for dinner the very same day. Haha don’t judge me. Anyways let’s get started. Very clean! Great service!(However there is an elder lady that doesn’t know English and she will often serve you when her daughter is on break… Difficult language barrier but interesting non the less) Best. Sushi. I’ve had! And I am from Miami Florida. I’ve had great sushi. This is by far the best I’ve had from any sushi bar other than a hibachi restaurant. Prices… Down right affordable! Even if your on the lowest budget of your lifetime it is affordable as heck ! They have specials monthly that will make at least two rolls that would other wise cost 10 dollars and fill you up cost 4 dollars or less lol They have 4 pages full of special sushis with pictures and full descriptions. They also have a spinning wheel that will offer anything from a souvenir to a free bottle of sake to a free roll to 50 percent off your next meal. Awesome ! Okay here is the rough part of my review … And the reason I will have to knock a star off of my five star review. I’ve come here seven times and on my last visit it was apparent that they were training a new guy. On the last bite of my roll I found a scale in my sushi. … Very disappointing. Understandable, but disappointing.

Wow, good sushi. Small homely place and very comfortable. Very large selection of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. The sushi I has tasted fresh and fell apart like butter when biting into it. Thoroughly impressed for where I’m ordering sushi.

Wonderful sushi, and the best service we’ve had in ages! The server was so sweet and professional, The wait time was perfect, and the food was immaculate. Also, even with drinking a considerable amount of saki, the bill was still under $ 90. Wonderful!!!

I love this place. There sushi is amazing. They have so many choices and will make changes as requested. They also have a few other dishes for non sushi lovers in your party. My kids love the Japanese sodas. Eat in or call ahead for take out.

One of my faves because of the Apple Sake and friendly staff. It has a three floor level seats giving you the feel of an authentic sushi house..

So. It’s Labor Day, of course this place is dead! Seeing as I have no had sushi in over 3 months, I was excited to have some today. This would be the 3rd Sushi joint in Chesapeake I’ve been to that’s just not that great. I think I should stick the ones in VB. Basically the rolls were small and lacking. The California roll barely had any eggs in the outside. The tempura roll had no flavor, or avocado or cucumber. The Volcano had ok flavor but was very small. They also completely fell apart the minute you picked them up. Even the $ 9 – 12 special rolls were small and poorly constructed. Like maybe the guy at the bar just graduated Sushi Rolling school and is given the slow shift to practice his rolling skills. I’ve had larger, better tasting rolls on all you can eat menus. Speaking of menus, theirs is 5 pages and alittle hard to read. I was taken back by the prices as well. So we ordered the lunch special that included soup or salad and 2 basic rolls for 7.50. Probably why they were small and completely unravelling cause it was a cheap lunch special. Which would totally make sense if not for the specialty full price rolls being tiny and unravelling as well. Basically it left us un satisfied and actually considering going to another sushi joint to get our fix. No bueno.

So many 5 star reviews… all to common in Hampton roads. Here I come again to rain down on everyone’s parade. Came in here for lunch on Labor Day… So that was my bad The meal was not amazing. We were the only people inside. It honestly was not what I was expecting. The freshness was not present. Reading these other reviews I feel like I’m missing out on some amazing food. We had a volcano roll, tempura roll, Philly, butterfly roll and crazy horse roll(did not like the crazy horse much at all. For the chef preparing the rolls for us. Half of them fell apart while eating them. Without being dipped in any soy sauce. Pretty much big disappointment with this visit. I will admit I am not a sushi expert but I do know a roll should not fall apart as you pick it up or a roll you pay 12 $ for should not be as small as a normal roll. Moral of this story… Labor Day Monday. No f$@#%s given sushi dragon roll special.

Staff is always friendly and quick! Sushi is fresh and Sapporo cold! Also frequent the granby street location when I am in Norfolk. Highly recommend the MacArthur roll.

One of the first things when you look into the menu of Domo sushi’s sushi restaurant is the array of what they offer in the types of rolls they offer– all piece of art with local and flavor distinction, while offering traditional Japanese sushi. Flavor is now a key essence in the role of making sushi and Domo truly takes heart into bringing it out while being commited to make the local sushi go-er a bigger fan of the«new age» Japanese sushi cuisine. I’ve only visited the Granby St. location, but the atomsphere is perfectly balanced to give customers that feeling of being in a Japanese restaurant, while also being committed to the customer in every request or need that may arise, very traditional of any asian restaurant. It is truly, one the best kept secrets of the city.

Let me start off by saying the food here is good. However, no matter how good the food is anywhere I have a huge problem with a restaurant ripping me off. At the end of our meal the server brought the check out quicker than expected. The total was $ 123 which included gratuity because there was six of us. I gave the server a certificate from that was valued at $ 50 off, provided we spent at least $ 100 on food and nonalcoholic drinks(which we did). When my new bill came out the new total was $ 163 with $ 50 off for a total of $ 113. I was given an incoherent explanation about how our bill had magically jumped $ 40 in price in a five minute span. I would not recommend any place that conducts themselves dishonestly.

Gigantic selection! Great sushi place for sushi wimps like me, i.e. not into the raw stuff. I had the butterfly roll(tempura shrimp and crab) and BBQ eel roll, which both had nicely sized hunks of seafood. Cute décor, including Lucky Cats, and Japanese soft drinks on the menu. Not a big place, but a nice sized bar that would make for a fun date. Service was prompt and attentive, although I did have a little difficulty understanding their English. But I the real reason I am writing this review is to recommend the red bean ice cream for dessert. Not the tempura kind, the regular kind. For $ 3.50, you get about 4 scoops of this light and delicious ice cream that’s unique, but not overly red bean-y. I swear, each bite tasted better than the last. Enough for two people to share!

I spent a little extra time trying to figure out which Shopping Center this place was in, and threw a quick tip to hopefully help others. I did not feel that bad when I heard one of the servers giving directions to a few other people throughout my meal. I ordered some sushi(California Roll, Sweet Potato Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll and a few pieces of Mackerel) «The Good» — The sheer size of the rolls makes it seem like the chefs cut them wrong, but they really are that big portion-wise. — The standard group I ordered was just a test since it was my first time here. They were all delicious and fresh. — I sat at the bar and watched the chefs, they were slammed on a Saturday night but took a moment to check on me after I started eating. It was one of the«Right Timing» moments. — The Sweet Potato was not on the menu, but it is one of my favorite rolls. Especially when loaded up with wasabi. They knew exactly what it was and did not try and throw in anything else like ginger which other places tried. Sometimes simple can be good. –The servers are friendly and ask if you need refills as opposed to you asking for one. «The Meh» — The menu was a little confusing on the California Roll, although it was probably me. It says that it is cooked, which the light bulb did not go on immediately for. When I asked the server she said it was to let people know that the crab meat is cooked. Not the roll. I guess I was in the zone, the sushi place I tried earlier in the week had a Tempura California Roll and I wanted to go old school. «The Bad» — Nothing really bad to comment on.

Literally THEBEST sushi I have EVER eaten! I absolutely love this place! My husband and I used to go there for dinner every Friday night for almost two years! The only reason we stopped going was that sadly, we had to move 500 miles away :(Not only is the sushi PHENOMENAL, but their appetizers, entress, and desserts are also amazing. Oh, and the miso soup is among the best I’ve ever had. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. We were regulars, and whenever we walked into the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed, brought to our table, and our waitress immediately brought out our waters, green teas, and miso soups… without us even having to ask! We shared 5 or 6 rolls of sushi between the two of us, and the average cost per roll was probably about $ 12. WELLWORTHTHEPRICE! It’s seriously delicious. They know and care about their customers. We were sad to have left the area, but whenever we pass through there we always make it a point to stop for sushi! This place has even turned non-sushi eaters into sushi connoisseurs!

My boyfriend and I pick Daikichi as our #1 choice for sushi, but Domo has it’s perks. The service is fast and friendly. Their salad dressing is my favorite, and the chicken yakisoba is really good too!
