The pâté sandwich was okay… not as good as I expected. I wish I had gone to ba Le… I paid 20 for two subs with extra meat but it seems like they stuff it with more carrots instead.

Tried to order via the web today(5÷13÷16) but that was down, then called and got that message the phone co gives when you don’t pay your bill, then walked past and saw a sign dated 5÷6÷16 saying closed because of no hot water… that usually happens when you don’t pay the gas bill… Looks like the last helicopter has pulled away from the embassy roof…

Overall on my list of vietnamese restaurants this place gets 2.5 stars, but since vietnamese is my favorite food, it gets four stars on the overall scale. The pork spring rolls and Banh Mi were pretty good, I didn’t quite like the flavoring on the grilled pork, but that’s a matter of taste. I do like that it is a reasonably priced vietnamese place that I can walk to. Hopefully this encourages more vietnamese restaurants to open near me.

I thought the décor was much more appealing than other Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to. Like a previous reviewer mentioned, this is not the place to go to if you want authentic Vietnamese. The beef phở was not the typical roundeye beef, but beef brisket?! instead. It tasted okay until I felt nauseous later in the day and well into the next day. So if you’re like me and not into food poisoning, you may want to look elsewhere, maybe on Argyle. However, my boyfriend mentioned that it may have been because of the bean sprouts I added to the phở, which may have not been washed properly. Ew.

This place is amazing! I knew I was in for a treat as I watched the steady stream of customers go in and out while waiting for the rest of my party. The Vietnamese Phở was delicious, and actually tasted even better as it got cooler while our party talked and enjoyed each others company.(I never would have thought THAT was possible with soup). The grilled beef Banh Mi was absolutely delightful, full of flavors and textures. And you have never had a Spring Roll until you have one here. Bön Appetit!!!

The Vietnamese Phó is phenomenal. It is hearty and has lots of healing power for a cold winters day when you are feeling under the weather.

This place was delicious and flavorful. The Vietnamese meatball sandwich was mouth watering. I’m not usually a fan of pickled anything but these guys did it very well. I loved every bite of it and plan to go back sometime very soon. This is a great spot to try if you in the area shopping.

If you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese food this is not the place to go. The restaurant is clean and looks great but the food isn’t up to par. I had the spring rolls and a banh mi sandwich and both were just okay. The spring rolls were bland and the banh mi sandwiches were tiny for the price. I’ll have to admit that it’s nice to have a little variety in restaurants on Southport though but I haven’t been back there since I first went because there are better food options on the street.

There are a few of these places around Chicago and they are not my favorite. They don’t grill their chicken or pork, and the sandwiches lack flavor. I go there because it’s in the neighborhood and close, but that’s about it. Not really that authentic.

Wow! Great tasty sandwiches. I had the bbq pork and it was delicious. Something different with flavor. Fresh bread and friendly service.

I don’t know Vietnamese food, but I do know fast-casual meals for eight bucks a pop. And for a fast-casual meal under eight bucks, Bánh Mì BáGet can’t be beat, at least not in the area. Try the pork or meatball banh mi!

You guys need to reevaluate your staff. The woman working the register seemed so annoyed to be there and had such a scowl toward everyone. Done know if she was hungover, or was just having a bad day but it was a real turn off. Hopefully the food is better than the attitude.

AWFUL! My first visit was meh so I decided to give it a 2nd chance… mistake. I called ahead to pick up Phở and vegetable spring rolls. I get home and notice all the phở toppings(bean sprouts, lime, cilantro etc) are missing. I called back and spoke to Allen who immediately gave me an attitude«I wrapped your spring rolls tight so they don’t fall apart. it’s not a big deal that the bag of toppings are missing. Come back and I’ll give them to you. I’m not going to fight for customers bc I don’t need them» …GASP He didn’t seem to think it was a big deal, however I don’t want to eat noodles, broth and an attitude for dinner. Clearly the employees aren’t trained in manners. I will not be returning for below average food with a tood.

I have ordered a few sandwiches from this particular location since they opened. They were okay, not amazing, but certainly good enough and conveniently located for me. They probably would have been a 3 or 3.5 star review for me until my last order. I ordered a veggie tofu banh mi and a lemongrass tofu spring roll to go. I brought the sandwich home and proceeded to eat it until I got to the bite that had the THICKEST, LONGEST, BLACKEST hair in it that I’ve ever had the displeasure of almost eating. If I think about it enough I can still get the dry heaves just like I did when I initially pulled it out of my throat. No thank you, I can’t eat here anymore. If you are going to operate a restaurant, you need to make sure that your kitchen staff are wearing hair nets. It’s as simple as that. I can clearly remember seeing a woman with long, black hair making food in their small kitchen. It’s inexcusable that this restaurant isn’t taking steps to ensure that her hair isn’t in my sandwich. As an aside, they have their veggie banh mi listed on the menu under vegan items, even though these sandwiches contain mayonnaise that is not vegan. You can order the sandwiches without mayonnaise, but it’s a little misleading to call then vegan on the menu when they aren’t without special ordering. If you try this place I hope you get away without almost vomiting due to a massive hair in your food and having to throw away the bulk of an 8 dollar sandwich like I did. Good luck.

This makes me sad because I love Bahn mi and phở and I was so excited to see a new viet place in the neighborhood Went here today and got the shredded chicken Bahn mi and a diet coke to go… or so I thought. This place is absolutely adorable! I love the interior and they have a bucket of fortune cookies free for the taking! Sadly, the Bahn mi was way too salty. The shredded chicken tasted like the chicken had taken a salt water bath and then was rolled in more salt. In addition there was salt dusted on top which was a lot to handle. The bread itself wasn’t your typical Bahn mi bread and couldn’t uphold the weight of the fearless salty chicken. I was hoping to take a sip of my coke to wash down the sandwich only to realize it wasn’t in the bag but I had been charged anyway. And with that I waved my white flag. Hoping to try this place again, maybe the phở will be the winner?

Super cute boutique-ish Vietnamese spot on a trendy Southport Ave. Exactly the«type» of Asian restaurant you’d expect to see in this neighborhood. It is quite small so don’t expect to get a seat during normal meal hours. They did a great job of making the small space super comfy and inviting :) Also– the girl in the Iowa sweatshirt taking orders was adorable and super nice. I was in the mood for Bánh Mì so I tried the sautéed beef. They are a bit Americanized in that they don’t add pâté, but it was delicious nonetheless! It was overflowing with standard ingredients on a warm and crunchy baguette. It comes with a side of Sriracha but holy moly the jalapeños were enough spice for me! I also felt compelled to try their drip vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk. They ran out before I ordered,(hopefully a sign that it’s so good it sells out!), but she was making more while I ate my tasty ‘which. I just took my first sip and decided it’s not as sweet/rich as I’m used to Bit the flavor is still good. They use crushed ice though which is melting really quickly and maybe diluting the flavor a bit. If I ever order take-out I will order«no ice» and chill it myself at home

I love me some good Banh mI. Hubby and me went here on Saturday evening for an early dinner. It is very small quaint little place with photographs from around the world adorning the walls. I ordered the curry chicken banh mi, hubby got the vegetarian banh mi and we also got the lemon grass tofu spring rolls. I loved the spring rolls — very fresh and flavorful. It comes with a peanut dipping sauce — its a perfect start to the meal. Loved the sandwiches also — the curry chicken banh mi was delicious. Hubby liked his veggie sandwich as well. I would love to come back to try the phở and the wanton soup.

Oh my — This is my new obsession. The best wonton soup I’ve ever had, and their BBQ Pork Banh Mi is amazing! I’ve been to their Belmont location, but the one on Southport is just a bit more comfortable.

Wow, this chain has a lot of locations in this area. This review is for the Phở. The broth flavor is good. The meats available are only shredded chicken or beef brisket though, not the usual variety of beef available for phở. Also, the onions in the phở were on the raw side. I haven’t tried the bahn mi yet. I will probably go back and try the sandwiches.

This was the only place id get beef phở at and every time I come now it seems as if it has less flavor day by day
