2nd time here in 3 days. This place is amazing. Real deal Vietnamese food that is some of the best I’ve ever had.

I’ve been here couple of times, and each time the food was good but for some reason I kept getting my bill sent to me before I finish eating, there was no line for wait even if there was you should always wait till the customer finish eating their food first before rushing them, I felt very uncomfortable eating sometime, other than that the food is delicious though! =]

I’m very surprised to see that this place only received 3.5 stars. I’ve eaten at many Viet restaurants and this place by far is one of the best. They get pretty busy but they remain polite, at least from my experience. I’ve ordered the Chinese sausage and short ribs over rice which comes with 2 eggs, an egg roll, soup and a salad. Also ordered the fried shrimp and fried chicken in which all are very good. My only critique is that they’re not consistent with the rice plate. Otherwise I would definitely recommend this place.

Referred to this vietnamese restaurant, which has only been opened a few months. Lots of parking in a mall lot. We visted this placed in Feb/2016, at 12pm on a Sunday. Place about ¾ full. We were seated quickly, w/menus and water. The special noodle bowl and pan fried beef noodle dishes were inexpensive compared to other places. They all arrived about 10 minutes after order. All were good, but which we got home, we got quite thirsty, which means a bit more(msg) than I’d typically like to have in my food… Other than that, all we ok

I eat here at least 3 times a week at least and it’s getting busier and busier that tells you they are on to a good thing :-) try anything. It’s all good!

Yummy! I don’t eat their phở here because I’m so tired of phở! But everyone else around me always order phở. It’s good though. The chicken one. I always order their stir fries. So far my favorite is tom rang muoi or their salt and pepper shrimp. It’s definitely something you can’t replicate at home!

Ordered some lemongrass chicken and combination noodles, chicken was kind of spicy, but good, and noodles was good portion, I didn’t finish it, so I said it’s nice spot if you are hungry

I have eaten at this place quite a few times and have to say their Phở Ga(chicken phở) is delicious, get the chopped not the shredded. I think that is what they are known for, although I have tried other dishes such as the fried rice which is a huge portion, their goat hotpot was not bad, spring rolls are fresh, shakened beef and the fried whole shrimp is great also. The owner and staff is very warming and friendly. Service can be a little slow when they are crowded but they A-OK in my book. Will continue to come back and try the other dishes.

I did a to-go order and got me the Vegetable Fried Rice w/tofu and no egg– I’m vegan and I even informed the lady who took my order about it. Got my food and I saw the tofu and veggies and I assumed there was rice at the bottom… i got home and opened the container and WRONG. Wide rice noodles with vegetables and tofu. I’m pretty sure I said fried rice and I hope those noodles were vegan. I’m pretty sure wide rice noodles are vegan but I was not 100% so I didn’t eat anything but my friend did and said that the food was pretty greasy. I didn’t call back. Other than that, the staff are pretty friendly peeps.

I’ve eaten at Phở Nam Lua twice. Each time, it took an extremely long time for my order to be taken. I hate when I actually have to ask an employee if «I can order now.» On top of taking an extremely long time to take our order, they also took an extremely long time to bring out the food. When the food was finally brought out, they took the wrong order. So 2 of our party was eating while the other had to wait for their correct order to be made. In addition to this mishap, the bathroom wasn’t working and my 4 year old daughter reaaaaaally had to go, so I had to take her next door just to use the bathroom. Horrible!

Tried this place for the first time as here’s what I got. I went with my wife as mother for lunch. We ordered the shrimp and meat spring rolls and egg rolls to start. First off they are pre made so that means they are not as fresh as possible. The starters came out 1 minute after I ordered them and the spring roll was cold like it came from the fridge. We ordered the phở with flank steak strips ad a Saigon special phở. The broth wasn’t bad but didn’t have the mix of flavors I would get from a great bowl of phở. 2 out of 3 bowls of phở had a good amount of noodles but the 3rd bowl had about half of what was in the 2 other bowls. Service could be better, they seem like they are not comfortable. Not one of the best or even mediocre phở places in Chicago. I guess I would go back to give it another shot but if that goes the same, I wouldn’t go back since there are many other better phở places around the area.

My family and I wanted to order phở for pick-up because it was one of the only places open on Christmas Day. From driving by several times, we all thought that this place appeared to be a typical Vietnamese place with the usual noodle and rice offerings. However, we had the hardest time figuring out what to order because there was no menu online, and their website seems to be for another restaurant entirely! I had to scroll through some photos on Unilocal and fortunately found two pictures of parts of the menu that some other Unilocal user had uploaded(thank you!!). Food and prices were both average.

Great music. A Vietnamese friend of mine said this restaurant is not authentic. So I had a bowl of broth, kobe beef, and noodles. I also ordered crab rangoon. The crab pastry was delicious but oily. I thought the beef was okay. It was chewy and in big pieces. Broth was ok. Same with noodles.

My parents started going here for dinner about a month ago, saying that it was better than Hoanh Long. I, however, cannot even compare the two. First off, the staff do not speak English and completely messed up our to-go order. Currently missing spring rolls, have a large fried rice instead of small, and my phở was not the one I had ordered. Granted, my sister could’ve checked the bag before leaving, but still. Right now, I’m attempting to eat my phở sans the unwanted ingredient and it’s practically inedible. The broth is unbelievably oily and I find myself having to wipe my mouth every other bite. I can feel my arteries clogging right now. I really don’t like writing bad reviews, but this is necessary. I’ll be declining any future dinner plans at this place.

Food is great as always however, staff mixed up my order, and not only that my phở barely had enough noodles…, I DONTKNOWIFIDGOBACK. When I got my phở I had to ask for my bean sprouts, basil etc.. WAITERS/WAITRESS DON’T UNDERSTANDORSPEAKENGLISH, which screws orders!!! I SHOULDNTEVENGIVE2STARSBUTFOODWASGOOD. That’s the only thing good.

Every time I took #82(Kimball/Homan) bus northbound to Lincolnwood Town Center, I passed by the strip mall next to the defunct cinema on McCormick and Devon. I found Phở Nam Lua on Unilocal since I have been craving for Vietnamese food, yet I didn’t want travel all the way east to Argyle in Uptown. I didn’t expect much, but their dining room was cozy and thoughtfully decorated. I ordered the large phở tai sach(rare steak/tripe soup), and hubby had phở chay(veggie soup). I haven’t had phở for a LONG time, so I was pretty excited. I did enjoy my phở tai sach. Although the broth could go a bit easier on sodium, there was no major complaint from this happy girl. On the other hand, hubby was more a phở connoisseur than I was. He did comment on that he preferred the phở chay at the other restaurant by the CTA Kedzie Brown Line station, but he thought the price for the phở here was quite reasonable($ 7.50 to $ 9.00, depending on the size specifications) The service was friendly and polite, so I believe Phở Nam Lua is a solid four(4)-star neighborhood joint if you’re running errands in the a North Park/Lincolnwood areas. If you’re a vehicle-dependent individual, there’s free parking in the strip mall parking lot.

I stopped in last week to grab some carryout Phở Ga and shrimp spring rolls. I got my food and was out the door in under 10 minutes. The prices were VERY reasonable and the food was tasty.(Could have used more basil for the phở tho).

One star overall for the worst service ever and we did not get to eat. I took my mom to the restaurant because we had known the chef from New Asia restaurant and we always enjoyed chicken Phở at NA when the chef was there. The restaurant was full when we arrived, 10 minutes later the manager sat us down with another family at the same table(how typical). We waited about 15 minutes, the manager(not a server) came over and tried to take our order. I told her how we could order any food if there wasn’t any menu, she then apologized and told a waitress standing by to get us menus and water. 5 minutes later, the waitress gave us 2 take-out menus and no water. 20 minutes went by and nobody even bothered to check with us, then a Caucasian man came in sat next to us. Immediately, a waiter came over and took his order, it seemed the waiter could not understand what his customer wanted so he asked the manager to take the order instead. Here, we were, being ignored for over half an hour so we got up and walked out of the place then headed to New Asia restaurant on Lawrence. Definitely, we’ll never come back to that place. The manager had no clue how to run the place, none of the servers were trained properly. Never again, Nam Lua, we will not be humiliated again by you. To other Vietnamese patrons, make sure to bring a Caucasian friend(or family) with you for ensure a better service. Otherwise, they’ll treat you like second class. Check out other reviews and compare with your own experience then figure it out for yourself. I just realized Angelo C.(the poster below) was the Caucasian man sitting next to us. Good for you, Angelo C.

Really good phở! The broth was flavorful, definitely one of the best I’ve had. The shrimp spring rolls were also very good. I also enjoyed the décor — interesting paintings on the walls. Thanks, Tran.

Probably one of the better Vietnamese restaurants I have gone to in Chicago outside of Argyle. The food came out in about ten minutes, so it wasn’t too much of a wait. The phở dac biet is very reminiscent of one that I order from another restaurant in Argyle, which is a huge plus considering this place is much more convenient for me to travel to. My only concern is that their menu did not include a selection of banh mi, but since they’ve only just opened, this is just a minor setback. I would definitely come back again in the future. P. S. Ask for Tran. Best server ever.

Chicken phở is good. kobe beef phở doesn’t have kobe beef but looks like regular beef. spring roll is decent. the salt and pepper smelt was too greasy and the mi sate is bland. decorative and clean place. service is slow when busy. I think their signature dish is chicken phở.
