Wine Bar at the Walnut Room

The tree and yearly tradition is what keeps patrons coming back. Decent dinner prices $ 4.50-$ 21.95 with a good portion. Less than $ 10 holiday drinks.
The Wine Bar has the same menu as Walnut Room. Long communal table vs Table. Partial view of tree. Quicker seating. Purse hook under table. Hang coat on high chair.
BRAISED SHORT RIB ($ 21.95) — plentiful for Guy portion. 2 servings for a Gal. Decent comfort food.
BREAD AND BUTTER — cute circular butter. Not-​the-​French bread that is delicious and addictive. Warm. Soft.
EGGNOG BRANDY ALEXANDER ($ 7.95) — delicious, pretty, addictive, cheap and you get a commemorative Walnut Room mug for EVERY holiday drink you purchase. A great way to stack up on your mugs at home for free.
YULE LOG ($ 6.50) — beautiful. Shareable. Too sweet. Pick another dessert.
SERVICE — accommodating. Friendly. Ordinary.
VENUE — disheveled. Ordinarily common. Well-​lit pub vibe.
1-​star less as occasionally there is some weird fishy and other smell passes through the area. Eeww.

Half-​off on all bottles on Wednesday? Heck yeah! Classy joint with a giant long bar and other round bar tables, if you prefer a more quiet chat with a fellow drinking companion. Beautiful historic Walnut Room — what’s not to love?
Well, there’s only 1 server, so that can be a challenge if there are a lot of patrons — and even when there’s not, that person can be busy chatting with the lone patron that they’re too busy to top-​up your drink or take food orders. (Cheese plate is divine, by the way.)

Eine Ideale Möglichkeit für Weinfreunde, eine kurze shopping Pause einzulegen. Im gigantischen Kaufhaus Macys (
) kann sich leicht ein dürstendes Gefühl einstellen. Dem können die 100 Sorten abhelfen, die es an der Wine Bar im Ausschank gibt.
Bar ist ein etwas irreführender Ausdruck, denn die Weinfreunde platzieren sich auf Barhockern rings um einen einzigen, riesigen Tisch. Ich schätze die Länge so auf 15 Meter. Schnell entwickeln sich hier Gespräche mit weiteren Besuchern, die sich auf die Schemel hieven.
Hinter diesem Tisch befindet sich dann ein riesiger, dekorativer und gut einsehbarer Weinklimaschrank, in dem das Angebot lagert und appetitlich ausgestellt wird.
Verkostungsserien, also mehrer kleine Gläser können geordert werden, kleine Häppchen schaffen die nötige Grundlage. Wer richtig essen mag, begibt sich eh in den angrenzenden Walnut Room, dem bekanntesten Restaurant im Macys, den man von der Bar aus übersichtlich im Blickfeld hat.
Ein sehr gutes Glas Cremant gab es für $ 10, da wunderte es, dass nicht mehr Besucher strömen. Wobei: Gerade aus diesem Grund ist die Wine Bar eine wundervolle Oase im ansonsten lauten und hektischen Gewimmel des Warenhauses.
Ich bleibe auf ein zweites Glas.
