HAIRINTHEFOODANDBADSERVICE Terrible food and the service was awful. After starting to eat the food that wasn’t even good we found a hair in the corn beef hash we found a hair in it. We immediately put that part of the food aside and took out the hair disgusted. Then when we tell the waitress she gave us a hard time and said because she didn’t see it she couldn’t help us. She said without seeing it she couldn’t do anything without a manager and there wasn’t one there so she called one and after us waiting around for another ten minutes she said she couldn’t get ahold of them. She told me to relax and was very rude. Never go to this diner to eat

This is literally my most favorite restaurant. It’s so convenient and the food is amazing. They have breakfast served all day, the atmosphere there is very welcoming. You go in and take a seat and wait for your waitress, which are by the way very adorable, and they have a wide variety of foods. From burgers to seafood and the portions are very good for the price paid. Highly recommended to eat there.

Great breakfast and burgers. Decent prices for a truck stop. The staff tends to turn over more than other places in the area. The jukebox randomly plays. I usually get the breakfast special or bacon cheeseburger.

Clean, modern place with very good food and service. I don’t care much for diners but this one was good.

The waitress was really nice, so I’m adding a star for her. My brother-in-law and I both had the soup and salad bar for about $ 8.00 each. The lettuce was all brown and wilted(looked as if it had been sitting out for days), some of the toppings/veggies looked fresh and well-stocked, but most either looked old or were gone entirely. Both of the soups offered were empty. When notified, they brought out more corn chowder from the back, but it was almost certainly from a can and definitely cold. $ 8.00 isn’t expensive for a soup/salad bar, but we were barely able to eat anything they had to offer! If not enough patrons opt for it to warrant keeping it fresh and well-stocked, then get rid of it entirely rather than screwing over unsuspecting customers.

The one time I was there was late afternoon & naturally I ordered the all day breakfast and was very disappointed. The restaurant was undergoing renovations and the environment was not pleasant.

Came here on a sleepless night around 5am, were the only patrons and still got fast, friendly service. The cheese fries were the best we had since the Route 9 Diner in Hadley closed! The homefries were also really great– solid diner :)

stopped by to eat dinner and we were so disgusted! Not only did we wait a long time for our food, but when it arrived there was a giant clump of hair in my food! and when I say giant, I mean giant! I don’t think I’ve ever been so disgusted in my entire life. I sent back my food, ended up waiting forever for something else,…which I didnt even eat! the waitress offered free dessert, but after waiting forever to even get our food and being totally grossed out we just wanted to leave. never again will I go to this place. i would give this review zero stars, but it doesn’t allow me too. smh

I feel like the food is different every time I come here. I used to love coming here so when I was deciding what I wanted to eat today, I decided to visit as I haven’t been in a long time. The service was slow, I was left to look at the menu for what felt like 10 minutes. The food came kind of fast though and you could tell by tasting it. When I received my food, I was missing my french toast and I saw it sitting up on the counter and didn’t receive it for several minutes. I asked for my eggs over easy but yet they came out sunny side up, my french toast tasted uncooked, and I asked for a side of hollandaise sauce, which I never received. My boyfriend also said his water tasted funny and his food was somewhat up to par. It also took forever for the waitress to bring our check after she took all the plates off the table and i feel like we ended up waiting for longer than it took us to eat, we were definitely sitting at the table for at least 15 mins waiting for the check. In fact I’m writing this review while waiting. The placement of this diner is kind of weird too, being attached to a gas station, however the inside looks nice at least. It’s quiet in here and I feel like they should always have music playing but you actually have to go to the juke box and pay for music it seems. All in all, I feel like this place is not as good as it used to be. I feel like the food usually tastes better at night. I don’t want to give up on this place all together so I may try to come at night sometime like I used too, but I won’t be coming back during the day time for sure.

Server was super sweet(Katherine) recommended the teriyaki steak. OMG it was cooked to perfection. I normally am not a huge fan of marinated steak in teriyaki but this is freaking amazing. And it was cook just how it should be, medium rare. This is definitely a place i will make a point to come back to when ever i am in the area.

I stop here every time I drive by. The BLT on Sourdough it one of the best I’ve had. The chips and pickle are also above average. Unfortunately I can only comment firsthand on the BLT because it’s the only thing I’ve had here in the last 50 plus visits(it’s that good) The service has always been very good in the day. The prices are very reasonable.

* Not Fantastic, But Pretty Darn Good * Open 24 Hours! The Hours listed here(as of March 2015) are wrong. It’s open 24⁄7 — NOT just midnight to noon. Sheeesh! I’m not a fan of 50s music, but this place has a nice atmosphere. It is 50s in décor without being obnoxious. The neon is plentiful and tasteful. Typical diner — widespread menu, generous portions, good food. Seems clean(in spite of the reviews saying otherwise), and the service was polite and timely. * Phil

This place is exactly what I expected it to be. Good breakfast and hot coffee. The ambience was pleasant, and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. There was even a real jukebox that my 1 year old daughter loved. The waitress started some music on the jukebox and danced with my daughter, she loved it! The bathrooms were decent. The building is shared with a gas station/truck stop. For some people it may be sketchy, but my husband is a OTR trucker, so truck stops are like a second home. Lol Overall, it was a good experience. We will be coming back when we’re back in town. I loved all the truck parking that was available.

Any negative reviews on here are just being harsh. This place has good food at a great price. I work third shift. So I’m usually there around 2AM but I have no complaints. It’s a solid place to eat as long as you can get over its truck stop location.

I have been there numerous times, the service is always exceptional, and the food has been super, with large portions. Big, open, fun atmosphere with a real jukebox.

Built at a trucker stop in Sketchyville, America! Fifties Diner was by far the worse diner i have stepped foot in. I cannot comment on the food as our food NEVER even came out. We ended up just leaving.

This place has AMAZING breakfast. A lot of it was souther food which I had never tried but I went there with a friend who is coincidentally from the south and she agreed it was really good. The food also came out really fast. The waitress was always checking on us to make sure we had everything(but not in an annoying way) and she was extremely friendly.

I’ve been to the Fifties Diner twice now, both times late at night. As far as late-night diner food goes, it does the trick. The food is inexpensive, and the portions are pretty big. I haven’t strayed from the basics there– I’m not at all eager to try veal parmesan at a diner– but with the exception of some really bland home fries, the breakfast options are good. Both times I’ve visited, the place has been nearly empty, so we’ve never had a problem with service.

On my way through the Springfield area, I made a pitstop at the Fifties Diner for an early Sunday dinner, located right off the Mass Pike at Exit 6. The Fifties Diner is a truckstop diner which is open 24 hours serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Upon entering, there’s a jukebox front and center playing 50s music(CDs). The place is very bright with green and pink neon lighting, salad bar, black & white tile floors, pink painted walls, a few framed oldies posters, lunch counter seating, booth seating, and table seating. I grabbed a menu and seated myself at a booth. The menu offers typical breakfast dishes, soups, chili, salads, salad bar, appetizers, sandwiches, wraps, pasta, comfort entrees(meatloaf, liver & onions, pork chops & more), and desserts(cakes, pies, ice cream treats). The prices(in Feb 2009) are fair, sandwiches priced $ 4.99-$ 6.99 and most entrees are priced $ 6.79-$ 8.99. The NY Sirloin Steak dinners are $ 11.49-$ 14.49(8oz &12oz). The place was moderately busy with only one waitress serving the entire place solo. The service was very scattered and the waitress was overwhelmed rushing orders of food and drinks back and forth. It took about 10 minutes before the waitress was able to take my order. I ordered the Fish n’ Chips with cole slaw($ 8.99) and added the soup and salad bar for $ 3.99. Some dinners come with a side salad, but the all you can eat salad bar is always $ 3.99 extra with any meal, $ 6.99 as a meal, $ 4.99/lb to go. The salad bar was okay, which has around 30 items including greens, garnishes, cold salads, dressings, jello, fruit, 2 soups and rolls. The cream of mushroom soup was not bad, sliced mushrooms in a hot milky broth. The vegetable beef soup seemed like they took French onion soup and added vegetables and chopped beef, meh. The Fish n’ Chips were nothing exciting, frozen then deep fried, the breaded white fish was okay and crispy coated fries were a bit salty. The cole slaw(also on the salad bar) was pretty good. Like I mentioned before, the service was lacking. The waitress drops the food off and boogies off(too busy), no checkup until I ask for the check and a box for the extra food, which did take a while to come out. Overall, I was disappointed and the service(not the waitress’s fault) was a train wreck. The waitress was doing her best to take care of every table and the seats at the lunch counter(I counted 15 diners), not skipping a beat. The dining area really needed another server during Sunday dinner rush.
