The sauce is disgusting and when you ask for the meat sauceless it’s the most flavorless dried out stuff you’ve ever put in your mouth. On top of that, the people taking your order act like you’ve bothered them for stepping in to order. The cost is exremely high and you don’t get what you pay for, if you have to eat here. I suggest the pecan pie that’s made in a Los Angeles bakery and shipped there. I never just make my mind up about a place until I’ve been there at least three times, because sometimes the bad service is due to just one person, but after being there three times, it’s everyone there and the food being terrible is not a one time fluke, it’s just bad everyday. Dried out flavorless meat, dark tomato ketchup bbq sauce that’s just gross and watery, sides are just wrong, the price is too high for what you get.

I would have to say this is the best BBQ I’ve had in So-Cal. The sauce is amazing and I’ve had all the various cuts of meat at this point and they are all delicious. If you like spice, they have a spicy barbecue sauce that adds a very nice kick to whatever you order. The sides are also very good. My favorite is probably the Mac’N’Cheese but you can’t go wrong with anything. What I love is the simplicity of how they serve it to you. You get a to-go box and it comes with your meat, two pieces of bread with your utensils and your side. Very minimalistic. I’m not a huge BBQ but at this point I usually head to Phillip’s at least once or twice a month with the work crew because everybody loves it.

Nobody cares if its spelled barbque, barbcue, or bbq or just good cooked meat as long as its good cooked meat! Hey what’s up everyone I’m here at Phillips bbq in chino. Its a pretty hidden, since I’m not local to the area didn’t even know that there was a bbq place there and I drive past the location all the time lol. As soon as I drove in the parking lot I could see smoke and from there I know it was going to be interesting. Once inside I checked out the menu, it was full of the regular BBQ items. I ordered the pork rib lunch with macoroni salad and a red velevet cake(the cake never came the cashier missed the order for it). The food was good, I liked the smokey flavor and the fall off the bone tenderness of the meat. But most importantly what I liked about Phillips was seeing the smoke, and the smell of summertime lol! Its a welcome change to see smoke and smell good bbq before I even hit the parking lot. Ill be sure to make more stops to Phillips BBQ in the future. And to the reviewer complaining about the proper way to spell barbecue, get a life grammar nazi.

I went here today after church for a take out dinner. I ordered a combo plate of beef links and rib tips(some of which were so dry they might as well had been jerky). I had the macaroni salad and the beans for my sides. The portions for the sides were extremely small, hardly enough for one person and I had to share with both my kids. The $ 17.00 price tag was a bit much for what I got in return. I also bought a slice of the sock it to me cake, which I have yet to try. I’ve heard good things about the L.A. locations so I was excited to discover a Phillips in Chino, sorry to say my excitement is now just plain old disappointment. Nothing about the meal stood out as note worthy, other than to note I won’t be going back. They get two stars because the young lady at the window was polite and the place, although empty, was clean.

I was out in the area a couple weeks ago and decided to stop by. Its tucked in a corner of a strip mall but has lots of parking. The place is fairly large inside and is fairly plain. I ordered the spare rib lunch with beans. Like most BBQ places, my lunch was accompanied by 2 pieces of bread. The beans were piping hot when I got them. They were good, a bit sweet for me. The ribs were perfectly cooked and had a mild flavor to them. I would have probably wanted something with stronger flavor but the these ribs were pretty good. Their sauce, which I ordered on the side, was good; wasn’t too thick but had a smokey flavor. They have a couple other restaurants in SoCal too; gotta give them a try when I can. Definitely, a legit spot for BBQ.

um chino… where are we is what’s going through my mind when hubs states«I want BBQ for lunch» well then you Unilocal it and I’ll drive” and off we go bobbin and weaving through the IE and end up at this strip mall that leave allot to the imagination but the smell of those wood chips draws us in. The place is CLEAN!!! we go up check out the menu, I was really wanting a pulled pork sammie but didn’t see it on the menu so went with rib tips with a combo sauce, hubs got the sliced beef –hot and and order of ribs too split. Now we definitely like are sauces hot and while he did enjoy his meal he said his scalp did start to sweat lol. I don’t think I go have handled it. I recommend the mixed sauce it was just the right amount of sweet and spicy. I think if you went with the mild it would be a really sweet sauce. all the meals come with your pre-wrapped slice of white bread and a side or two. OHMYGOD they have THEBEST macaroni salad, the sides are really small and I was so tempted to go back and get some for the road. Seriously the best I have had in years. The corn on the cob was flavorless, which I couldn’t really understand how you achieve that kinda of lack of flavor in corn on the cob. the beans were good, true BBQ beans not baked so if your a big fan of bushes I suggest you go for something different. Big meaty portions(we had dinner left over from our lunch for sure!) Hubs didn’t notice the wall of acrylic protecting the employees from the customers until we were sitting, how he missed that I have no idea! Guess that’s just the LA girl still in me. But during mid day we felt fine sitting there and eating. they had the football games and a really nice TV to watch. Totally worth the stop on our way back to SD, wish I had got some pie as well cause I really wanted alittle something sweet to eat afterward. NOTE: KEEPYOURTICKET they wont give you your food unless you produce a ticket.

went here with my brother a few months ago. He referred me here since he loves the crenshaw location. How bbq is supposed to be. I am not a supporter of lucille’s or other chain bbqs. I got the rib combo with greens and beans. The ribs… PERFECT. moist with a noticeable smoke ring. Not too moist that it falls completely off the bone and feels like mush. I like ribs with a bite, and the spicy rub had exactly that. The greens and beans are standard. Also got ur slices of white bread. The way its best. Brother got the hotlinks. Man are they good. Perfect flavor, portion, spice and sauce. Perfect with that bread. Then got the red velvet cake and banana pudding like grandma does it. Completely satisfying. Not to mention we enjoyed that NBA tv they had playing while we ate. 5⁄5 will be back soon! Lucille’s BBQ is for suburbian sheltered ppl that don’t know bbq. Now to look for some carolina chopped pork bbq in socal… goodluck right?

Phillips BBQ is the best BBQ ever… Joey’s BBQ in Pomona is very good, but Phillips has a more amazing BBQ with this ridiculous sauce. I used to frequent the one in the Leimert Park Area when I lived in LA for more than 20 years. They have never changed their product. I’m glad that they’ve moved to Chino. Here are some must try’s: 1) Beef Links(Choose your heat intensity too: reg., mild, & hot) 2) Sliced Beef 3) Rib Tips 4) Sock it to Me Cake(Vendor Product exclusively sold at Phillips) If you’re in the mood for a salad, don’t go to Phillips. It is the king of BBQ Meat, Sauce, and Sides. Enjoy!!!

We were craving barbecue on Friday night and didn’t want to go too far to get some. So of course we searched Unilocal for restaurants in the area. I’m glad we came across this spot. It’s in the corner of a sketchy looking shopping center, which I think adds to the experience. And as soon as you get into the parking lot you can smell the bbq smoke. The menu is pretty straight forward. They have dinners that include 2 side dishes and white bread to soak up all the bbq sauce. Or you can order a la carte. I ordered a half rack(about 8 ribs) of baby back ribs with the mix sauce(hot and mild mixed together) and my boyfriend ordered a pound of the tri-tip. The sauce had a good flavor to it — not too sweet or too spicy and a little on the tangy side. They also have a number of different side dishes, which I wasn’t too impressed about, but the bbq makes up for it. The cornbread muffin was a little dry and the mac and cheese was just ok. Overall, this is like a mom and pop joint where it feels like the people that come here have been coming here for years. It’s a place where you know you’re going to get a good meal. It’s good to know there are still places around like this and we don’t have to resort to the big chain like Lucilles. I would definitely come back here again.

We had friends over on Sat and we were deciding on what to eat. I read the reviews about this place and everyone was in the mood for BBQ. …So off I went to pick up for togo. One thing I did noticed when going into the place… is Turn of the fucking fans on man!!! It was hot as hell in there and smoky. I left smelling like good BBQ though so I guess I couldn’t complain. Luckily I was going home after and not to go hang out. If you do. Your new cologne will be «Smoky Sliced Beef». On to the food. 2 orders of sliced beef dinners with coleslaw & mac salad. 2 orders of baby back rib dinners same sides. 2 beef links and corn on the cob. The slice beef was really good the sauce was damm tasty. When it comes to BBQ I always ask myself…“Would this be good with white rice” … and yes it would be. Unfortunately I couldn’t have white rice with this meal but for next time its on. The baby backs… they were stripped down to the bone so my wife and friend must have liked it. I think for a local joint next to my house its a definite option for the next time I feel like BBQ. Just ventilate that place.

If you want amazing delicious BBQ come here. The best rib tips, the BEST mac-n-cheese. Seriously, if you go get it, it is to die for. It is the greatest BBQ place ever. It is authentic down south goodness. I strongly suggest this place.

I wanted to treat my clients to lunch. They never leave for lunch so I thought BBQ sounded great. Unilocal had two reviews for Phillip’s BBQ in Chino. (Thanks friend Steven G). I would usually go to Joey’s or maybe Juan Pollo but why not try something different? Phillips BBQ opens at 11:00 am. I arrived early and there was a menu on the front door so I called in orderd Mixed Meats and sweet potatoe pie for dessert. Meal Tray included: ½ slab of pork ribs — good sized, meaty and tender. ½ slab of beef ribs — large, a little chewy. ½ lb sliced beef — very tender. ½ pound beef links — spicy hot. ½ a chicken — did not try. 1 lb of rib tips — very good and tender. Pint of Potato salad — good although I’ve had better. Pint of BBQ Beans — very good. 3 sweet potato pies Did not try to full 1 loaf of wonder bread — Great for sandwiches, haven’t ate this since I was a kid. Paper plates and plastic forks were provided and the tray of meat was huge and the sauce was mild flavor since it was all packed together. My customers raved about the food and were so appreciative. I will return here again. Phillips offers dine in also but is quite small. I would prefer that next time cus I like my food hot!

Recently opened in late 2009 Phillips Barbeque(famous in Los Angeles for many many, years, is by far the best and most authentic barbeque I’ve tasted in the Inland Empire. From the street it looks like a total dive. There isn’t a single strip of fly tape hanging from the ceiling anywhere in the place, I promise. It’s super clean but not a show place. Be prepared to eat your down-home BBQ off of a paper plate using plastic utensils. When you can eat BBQ without snapping a plastic fork you know you’re eatin’ some mighty fine tender BBQ. You’ll forget all about the recyclables when you begin feasting on the food. If you want silverware, Turkish cotton napkins, candlelit ambience and mediocre overpriced BBQ go to Wood Ranch where they pretend to know BBQ. At Phillips the scents of burning wood and smoking meats will greet you in the parking lot. So far I’ve had the sliced beef brisket, tender juicy and full of flavor. The beef link is the tenderest most flavorful beef ever stuffed into a sausage casing. The link comes nicely sliced on a bias in bite-size pieces and smothered in BBQ sauce, insanely good. The pork ribs have lots of juicy tender meat, a nice char to them and great smoke flavoring. I usually get the hottest BBQ sauce they have and I never leave a drop of my Shasta Tiki Punch in the can. They have three levels of heat for their BBQ sauce, mild, medium and HOT. The HOT is HOT! The homemade mac & cheese is delicious. The sides are tasty but nothing too exciting. You get two piece of white bread for sopping up sauce. I use my bread like an edible napkin, wipe and bite. The menu is so diverse you can order a plate every which way you can think of. There’s chicken, beef ribs, rib tips, baby back ribs and more. You can mix and match a combo plate. You can feed two for about $ 20.00. You’ll never go back to an overpriced high end franchise for BBQ again. HOLLYBANANA’S BATMAN you’ve got to try the Nana Queen’s Banana Pudding at Phillips. It was so good I wanted to jump up and down and yell. What I don’t know? I just felt that good while I was eating every last bite of this nilla wafer topped treasure!!! Welcome to the IE Phillips and thank you for blessing our tummies with your amazing BBQ!
