The food is borderline disgusting. They are very much into saving a dime and it shows in the quality of food. Went there for Sunday brunch buffet and it was horrible. The food they served was like they opened the fridge and cooked whatever they had left. Mexican food, american food, and then some weird choices that made no sense. I should have known there was a problem with the empty parking lot. Stay away from the food and the watered down drinks… even looks like they buy day old ice!!!

Nice place on Friday nights if you like Old School Music. Being a New Yorker, I take music very seriously. DJ Jose Monterossa is the best I’ve heard in So Cali. Not only are his songs great, but the mixes are right on time! Friday is the night and go before 9pm to avoid the cover charge. Dress is casual, little hot so dont wear long sleeves! PS: Stay away from the food, go for the dancing and RUN from the food!

This is the place that Xavier from Magic 92.5 is always bragging about. I love old skool/80’s music so I decided to check the place out. My cousin and I had just left the Turff Club, so I was not there to eat. Anyways, It was a Friday night when we pull up in the parking lot, all I saw was umm. those balded headed ganster dudes(the young ones too cause they were not of age to get in, so they just hang out in the parking lot!) I was like oh no, this is gonna be interesting! Luckily I had called in and got on the guest list, other than that $ 10 cover(or free before 9 pm I believe, and that was just for the ladies, sorry guys do not know your cover price). Walk in– a few people here and there, dance floor is small since the restaurant takes up a lot of the space. They have out there seating, but thats where the baldys were. And just like Vero said, «rucas and sanchos» ISCORRECT! Oh and some hoochies that were walking around trying to get free drinks from the old men! Drinks– ONLYDRINKBEER! The drinks were disgusting, watered down and they use the smallest glasses! Music-Was great, I love it and the DJ was definitely mixing it up. That was the only thing I enjoyed! But, I think I will stick to my boom box at home and listen to 92.5 from there! FYI — The CHP check point always posts up right in front of the place! So please no drinking and driving! And Vero you want some good Mariscos, hit up Hectors down Broadway!

I am not particularly fond of seafood. So why am I doing a review of a Mariscos place? Here’s why: — Despite the 80% mariscos [Mexican-style seafood] menu, this place has my one favorite dish: ceviche de pescado. Lesson: Ceviche is limon(or other citrus) marinated fish with chopped vegetables usually cilantro, tomate, cebolla [onion] and chile. It’s seasoned with salt and pepper and best served on a crunchy tostada. — Other seafood? I recommend the shrimp wrapped in bacon and pescado al mojo de ajo with hand-made tortillas. Mmm. Food is reasonably priced and portions are huge. — You are seated in the most comfortable leather chairs(like the ones your padrinos used to have over in Sinaloa). If you’re ADHD, these chairs can sound annoying… but not anything you can’t tolerate. Décor is cute with a sometimes lively mariachi. — Drinks? Nice and stiff. Nothing stands out, just try ‘em all. — Service? Depending on the night, the service can be ok. Sometimes they’re quick, sometimes they’re slow. Service gets a minimal ok. — Nights? Friday nights are old school nights with Xavier the X-Man of Magic 92.5. Never been, but I hear the crowd is late 30s, over 40s rucas and their sanchos. I plan to go someday. 4 outta 5 because of service.

After going to take care of some things at the court house, I pasted the Agave Grill and figured that I was hungry and wanted to check it out. I go inside and promptly I was seated. There were about 2 tables taken which worried me about service, food, ect. I felt like my own ginni pig. Well I ordered the Agave Platter which wasn’t all that, the cheese enchilada tasted a bit funny like it was made with grease or something. But the rest of it was just alright, nothing special. I asked the server(which never asked me about the food) what the deal was with the dance floor and she wasn’t certain about which events where when. Well when I was finished with the food that I liked, I asked for the bill which took about 5 min. and my bill with the 2 beers was $ 22.50 and I put down $ 30 she didn’t even bring me and change! Seriously?! She automatically assumed that I was going to give her a big tip for her pour service… I couldn’t believe it. Then when I asked for just $ 4 back it took another approx 10 min. to get it. I was very displeased and not planning on a return.

I’ve been meaning to eat here for about a year. I’m such a procrastinator. A broke procrastinator, no less. Interesting facts about Agave Grill: –The seats make some serious noise everytime you move in your chair. They’re comfy, but made of leather/wicker/bamboo(?) and make crinkling, rustling sounds just scooting in/out of your chair. An. noy. Ing. –For a Saturday afternoon, this place was deserted. There were dozens of empty tables, and only 3 or 4 occupied ones. This doesn’t bother me, because I hate people. Just kidding, but I don’t like so much noise that I can’t carry a conversation w/someone. — The portions are big, the food is above average in the delicious department, they’re decently priced, and the drinks are stiff. Praises for the Camarones a la Diabla, cheese enchiladas, and carne asada tacos. Guess which one was my entrée? The tortillas and salsa were a hit, too. — There are a couple flat screen tv’s mounted. — There’s a patio w/a dozen or so tables. I’m sure this turns into the smoking section at night. — Full bar. Nuff said. — I really liked the décor. The light fixtures were cool, piñata shaped bronzish, metal sconces. I can post a pic of them on Unilocal, but I’m too lazy to load them. Anyway, I liked them. –Service was attentive except when getting our check. But, I also come from a very impatient family. Nonetheless, very friendly. –I hear there’s a dress code after a certain time. Blah. Blahblahblahblah. Blah. I guess that’s okay. Fin.

This spot used to be Mariscos Marisol but they moved and changed the name. I’m not too sure if it’s the same owner, but I don’t think it has changed because the food is still delicious! I usually get the Camarones a la Diabla and my hubby gets the Mojarra Frita al Ajo. They make thier tortillas hand made and you can ask for more and they will happily go and get you some more fresh tortillas. I dont think I have ever had a complaint about the service. Friday Nights Xavier the X-man has a thing there. Thay have a full bar and I guess a dance floor.
