It was a sweltering day in Cincinnati and I was perusing the farmers market. Needless to say, I was sweating, becoming ornery, and in the need of refreshment. I thank the good Lord above I ran into Chill. The couple in charge was too cute and so sweet! They gave samples galore and were very informative on how they produce their syrups; all natural, and delicious! I opted for the fruit of the islands syrup with mint and it was exactly what I needed! I wish I could have packed them up and flown them home with me to Orlando! We need you out here!

I love Chill. My first experience must have been last summer when we ended up talking to one of the owners about her icy creations with homemade simple syrup sugars and amazing flavor combinations as an alternative to artificially colored garbage. I was sold. This past weekend they were at the butterfly show and I feel in love all over again. Now that I’ve been reminded of my crush, I’ve pursued their refreshing, tasty, glorious icy treats twice this weekend. Yep, once a day. If I could continue to pull that off, I might, but sadly this will be relegated to my weekend treat. When it’s warm out it almost trumps ice cream in its clean flavors and tricks you into having some more water. Tasty, tasty water! I’ve had the berry, fruit of the islands, strawberry, and lemonade flavors– among some others I can’t recall right now– and loved them all equally. The ice is freshly crushed and flavors then poured over. Yum! To add to this you can have it topped with watermelon and mint. All in all, it’s a perfect treat. The price is reasonable, $ 3.50 for a medium, which could certainly be shared. That’s your prerogative; I don’t often share. The owners are friendly and helpful, even remembering my order from the day before… way to be on top of it! Thank you to Chill for having such a fresh treat available for the upcoming summer months. If you haven’t tried what they have to offer, definitely check them out.(They’re outside of Krause’s and Skirtz and Johnson’s in case you think you’ve missed them).
