I came across Hunter Green Grass a few months ago as one of the newest additions to Findlay Market. Located near the Taste of Belgium booth, Hunter’s serves up wholesome fruit and wheatgrass smoothies and juices. I’m always up for tasting new beverages, so I stopped by to give them a try. This husband and wife duo were so very sweet. The gentleman told me all about his business, how it was started, and about wheatgrass. I ordered the Tropical Smoothie. At $ 4.50, I winced when I saw the petite portion. It came in a small cup about the size of a mason jar. For that price, I was expecting something substantial. Now, I’m not one of those ravenous Americans that expects a drink to be the size of a Big Gulp, but I do imagine a five dollar beverage coming in a pint glass. The smoothie itself, while good, wasn’t anything out of the world. It tasted like your traditional tropical frozen juice, except it was bright green from the wheat grass. I like the concept, I love the people, but I just can’t get behind the portions. Price per person: $ 5.00

I recently had the(tropical breeze I think) smoothie. It was ok, the flavor was a little bland and not what I thought it would be. I could tell it was fresh and healthy tasting though. I’ll have to try their other flavors and maybe a wheatgrass shot. The people working there were very nice and quick with my smoothie. Cool.

Getting a smoothie here has become a tradition in our visits to Findlay Market. They’re not the cheapest, or even the best smoothies I’ve ever had, but somehow they are exactly what I need after having biked to Findlay Market and walked around in the sun. I have tried the Berry berry banana smoothie(very berry, but what do you expect) and the tropical breeze(I think that’s the name). My friend tried the hulk and said it tasted very green — in a good way ;) I love how they prepare the smoothies as you’re waiting and am intrigued by the green shots people try. So far I haven’t dared it yet, but will need to try it soon! I also like how they have all of those vegan options. I’m not vegan at all, but can imagine it must be nice if you are!

I count down the minutes at work until I get to go on my lunch break and spend it at Hunter Green Grass. Every single thing I have gotten there has been grrrrreat! Everything from the pea soup to the new vegan energy bars to Edwards special vegan Italian pasta — and of course the JUICE!(Try the ‘House Special’) When you go you have to try the WHEATGRASS! The flavor is like none I have ever is an amazing nutritious slap in the face(a good slap ha!) followed by a sweet finish. There is definitely something special about this place and I believe it all stems from Barbra and Edwards passion for what they do. Go check it out for yourself! Not only will you get nutritious food and drink, but I bet you a BILLION dollars that you also have an awesome conversation. Edward is the king of knowledge.

Definitely get the berry berry banana smoothie. While I didn’t see them make it, it tastes like the perfect combination of incredibly fresh fruit all blended together. At $ 5.50 for a large, prices are a little on the high end, but if you’re looking for a healthy treat while you wander the market, keep this place in mind. Delicious!
