I had never heard of this gallery before FotoFocus, but was at a gallery down the street and was told to stop by Manifest. What a great exhibit it had. From talking to an artist friend of mine, they have some great exhibits however the only issue is that their hours are limited. I would be very interested in going to another exhibit there. It is a really cool little space for an art exhibit.

Art Galleries are such a subjective thing. For one, art in general is subjective. What some people say is great art, I think my dog could have done. And second, art galleries, by nature, are ever-changing exhibits. So what might be paintings my dog could have done one month might be glorious sculptures the next month. So – I’ll say this. I went to Manifest Gallery for the first time, and didn’t actually enjoy that particular show. Just not my style. However, I’ll most likely return for another show, and there are several reasons why: 1) Well-curated. It was very well laid-out, there was enough space between the exhibits, there were clear(and interesting) placards with information on the artist and their method. 2) The space. It’s an old house/building with interesting corners and rooms, it was clean and taken care of. Also, though there were many people, it wasn’t too loud to carry on a conversation(no pumping music). 3) The food. It’s not just about free food, it’s about the presentation. When you have some Triscuits and two-buck-Chuck out, it makes me think you are cheap, and your art is cheap. Manifest did it up right, and the food was so good I went back for seconds… and then I needed to do something while I was eating, so I went back to look at the art, and saw things I missed before. So – yay, Manifest! I’ll be back!
