Bad Bad service… I will allow for inexperience but not slow and rude. Had no idea of the menu and it reminded me of a 70s bar with the black paint. They had no patrons and where we wanted to sit was a VIP area… really Cheap drinks draws the cheap drink crowd

Truon is a great at making sushi. I had the main street roll which had eel, salmon, crab, cream cheese, teriyaki & wasabi mayo. It is warm and melts in your mouth. I also had the spicy tuna roll and spider roll. The chicken wings with the Mixx signature sauce was tangy like a honey hot wing. I also had the red Electra wine. It was a nice sweet sparkling red wine. I enjoyed the happy hour it had ½ price sushi.

Friday evenings are chill but gets a little«ratch» on the main level after 9 or 10… Not my fave bit it can do for after work Friday’s. Don’t love the food either.

One of my go-to happy hour spots for some of my favorite wines and drinks. They have good specials, almost everything is half priced including some sushi rolls that could usually run you $ 20+ regularly. I would choose my drink carefully, not all of them are ½ priced during happy hour. On some weekdays they also have live music which is always cool. I definitely do not recommend this place on weekends after 9:00 pm; this lounge becomes a full on club with a completely different atmosphere.

Came to Mixx with my girls for happy hour. I’m not a sushi-lover but drink specials and half price apps was appealing. I’ll admit I was skeptical about this establishment but I was pleasantly surprised by the happy hour atmosphere when I arrived. Our server, Sophia, was super friendly and attentive; our water glasses were full and she made sure to check on us even after we cashed out. Now the food: pretty good! We ordered several different options(for $ 5 you can go crazy). Philly cheesesteak egg rolls, signature wings, loaded fries, shrimp and sushi. The wings were good, the sauce is made in house. The drinks, let me tell you about the drinks. The happy hour drink specials we amazing. I had cherry vodka(grey goose) for $ 5 and Red Electra wine, also only $ 5! And it was amazing! Seriously, my new favorite wine! Over all we had a great time and will definitely be back!

Hmmm… I try my best to enjoy the Mixx Ultra Lounge but it’s always a toss up! The music is great and the atmosphere is fun but the drinks are ridiculously overpriced and the food service is slow. The best time to go to the Mixx is on a weekday for happy hour. If you’d prefer to go on a weekend, I’d say go during the day. Nights can become… Well… Ratchet…

Ehhhh. I’ve had better sushi. Terrible service(but this place is known as a club so I shouldn’t have expected too much). We were in a group of 8(I got there after everyone so they were all done eating and it wasn’t crowded). I ordered my food immediately when I arrived: the Cincinnati roll, loaded french fries, and a VS drink. The fries and drink came out in a decent time but I received no sushi. I waited for over an hour and additional people arrived and ordered food. They ordered whatever sushi comes out on a huge plate with 16 pieces and guess what? I STILLDIDN’T HAVEMYSUSHI!!! After an hour and 15 minutes of waiting, no sushi but the people that just arrived to my table gets theirs in 20 minutes? No! So eventually I asked her to just not even bring the sushi out because I just wanted to go home and guess what? They FINALLY brought out the sushi. HORRIBLE service. My expectations were entirely too high for this place. The sushi was just okay. I’ve had better. I would’ve given this place a higher rating because the fries were honestly not that bad(I love potatoes) but I believe that excellent service is extremely important in any restaurant and I was extremely disappointed. The drinks were good as well… will not be returning any time soon. Ever really. I’m just so disappointed.

It’s not terrible, it’s not great. It’s A-OK. I went for dinner when it was snowing and there were only about six customers. The server seemed nice enough and the sushi chef was also nice. I had the Mixx Roll, which was fine. I also had a California Roll and that also was fine. The Mixx Cocktail was strong and good. I recommend going during lunch so the sushi might be of better quality. The non-restaurant areas looks great. There’s a nice lounge area in the back and looks like a great place for a DJ. I was there when it was operating as a restaurant so didn’t get the feel of the lounge/bar atmosphere.

Nice African-American lounge highlighted by hip-hop karaōke. Didn’t have to sushi but they did have a nice bar selection. By no means ghetto, very clean and a little stylish.

I’ve only been to Mixx on Wednesdays… and only will probably go on Wednesdays. I’ve heard that the vibe of this place changes completely on the weekends. They have a great half off sushi special and $ 5 happy hour. Both the drinks and food are pretty good. However, the service is slow and seating is scarce. Also, there is live music by Natural Progression, a neo-soul cover band, on Wednesdays.

You take a little bit of Main And a whole lot of Sushi Add it up together in OTR And here’s what you’re gonna do You gotta Mixx it up quick And it’ll blow up on this spot I got a tell ya’ that the place is getting hot (311 Mix It Up) Mixx Ultra Lounge(the original Ultra Lounge in Cincinnati) has perhaps the worse website in Cincinnati. Any website that takes 45 seconds to get through the intro without giving me an option to bypass it poor in my opinion. But enough about their website and onto their physical site. I have only been here once for a friends party. We had one of the rooms in the back right behind the stage. The service was very good and the apps and sushi we had was good likewise. It was karaōke night and some of the singers were absolutely horrible, but they were having fun and that is what really matters. I sipped on my girlfriends Mojito which was tasty. Not sure this would be a usual spot for me, but definitely would not object to going here if others wanted to.

Mixx is not for me. It’s really popular with the club set, which is not my thing. So, you ask – why did you go there? Well my friend, I will go almost anywhere with a sign that says«half-priced Happy Hour». So I went there. It was half-priced, so that was nice… but the drinks tasted like punch with alcohol – kind of sticky-sweet with a kick. Not really what I want to drink with sushi, but it was my fault for ordering it. The other stuff was your basic bar food, nothing to write home about. I think if you like pumping music and darkness and that type of thing, you might want to try it out. Otherwise, I can recommend about 97 places before this one.

I was introduced to Mixx Ultra Lounge by a former coworker to whom I am forever grateful. Mixx is my go-to happy hour spot. From 4 — 7 weekdays and 4 — 9 Fridays, the sushi — prepared by sushi guru Tron — is half priced. The sushi is the Americanized sort — sauces, cream cheese, tempura — but delicious. My favorite is the tempura salmon roll. Happy hour also includes drink specials. Go for the $ 6 mojito, sizable and available in strawberry, raspberry, cherry, or mango. My only complaint is that the music(usually spun by a DJ) is far too loud. I usually go between the hours of 5&9, which in my opinion is too early for blaring music.

The mixx lounge was impressive, I went for happy hour, half off sushi and 5 dollar drinks… Their sushi catalog was very impressive, my date never experienced sushi before we had the California rolls and Philly rolls, they were very good. I most definitely will be going back for happy hour.

I first learned about Mixx a couple of years ago at the taste of Cincinnati. We tried their Crab Salad, and for weeks following I would suddenly get crab salad cravings. There is a strong African-American community here. Wednesday is a great day to try out their sushi since happy hour is all day. Otherwise it just goes from 4−7pm. Get there early for a good seat at the bar– the food comes faster that way. I am a big fan of their strawberry mojitos which are only $ 6 bucks if you go during Happy Hour and very strong, and taste great too. Also, a lot of their food and sushi is half off during this time. Crab salad is an always, OTR fries are a must try, and their crunch munch roll is delicious as well. But you can’t really go wrong with their sushi. .

We went to this place on a suggestion from friends. Sushi is a weakness of mine and the chef worked mercilessly on mine, much to my delight! Friday at happy hour was the time rolled into the place. It’s got a lively crowd with a hip urban flare. The music was provided by a live DJ who was familiar with his tools. Be warned, there can be a wait to get in and posted notice about sushi delivery times(there is apparently one sushi chef, and boy do the patrons LOVE sushi!). On to the food! We didn’t want to wait for 45 min in order to get a table. So we lucked up and caught two spots at the sushi bar. Good move! The advantage is that you can order off the regular menu as well. We ordered the Mixx Triple where you pick 3 of your favorites among several choices. They had these wings that were in what tastes like honey infused with Chile oil. Damn they were good! Sorry for that, but they were dynamite! That held us over because the wait on the sushi was about 45 – 50 minutes. Trust me, the chef was working overtime! Good guy, but they need 2 of those guys. We ordered Ebi(shrimp), crab stick, Unagi(eel), shrimp tempura roll and an amazing house creation called a «Downtown Roll». Okay, the name doesn’t do it justice by any stretch of the imagination but it was a dream. Basically, it was spicy tuna, crab, avocado, cream cheese in a roll that appears to be in a tempura outer shell. Yes, they tempura the entire roll! Great stuff! We ordered a LOT of sushi… Why? Because sushi & appetizers are 50% off from 5−7pm. And it was pretty safe to say that this was my best overall sushi experience. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was gooood. I hope this place sticks around for a long time so I can get back here.

Working in OTR, I’ve watched a number of businesses open up with a bang and then quickly fizzle in the past few years(Vinyl, Jardin, Ocho Rios, etc). So, I was understandably apprehensive about Mixx Ultra Lounge which opened up in the former Jump space, especially because I believed it was being run by the same people who had driven Vinyl and Jardin into a ditch. However, Mixx is apparently under the ownership and management of a different group of people… folks who seem to know how to run a restaurant. We headed over for lunch, hoping to get some sushi(which I had heard was very good), but unfortunately no sushi chef on staff during the day. We were disappointed, but decided to stick it out. We were rewarded with solid, moderately-priced food. The turkey burger, summer salad, and the«mixx» appetizer platter(sliders, wings, catfish nuggets) were all carefully prepared and pretty tasty. Service was friendly and attentive, although there was only one other table. The ambiance is kinda clubby, but the floor to ceiling windows help the place breathe. I’ll reserve my kudos until I try the sushi. But for now, I give Mixx three stars. It’s s a good, but not great, lunch option for workers in OTR and north downtown.

This new sushi bar, restaurant, and late night lounge just opened in Over-the-Rhine on Main Street and seriously, you’ve got to check this place out! First of all, the place is just gorgeous. There is a DJ booth and a fountain to your right when walk in, an open sushi bar with all the ingredients displayed to your left, and tall two floor ceilings above you. There are tables throughout the first floor, on many levels, some levels contain couches that look over the room. It really screams modern décor. The owner saw that it was our first time there and gave us the grand tour of the building. The building had five floors total, and he’s finished three of them including a balcony out back. They are all decorated with a different style. The second floor has a huge section of the floor cut out of it(where the tall ceilings are downtairs) and has it’s own bar and DJ booth. There is an old elevator and a new elevator. Inside the old elevator on the second floor is a little couch. The elevator doors even still close! The third floor is more of a private party rental area, it has a pool table and cute little couches. All of this furniture and couches he makes himself up on the 4th and 5th floors where he will eventually make more party space. Ok, now onto the food. Seriously people, I can honestly say this is the best sushi I have ever had. And I can say that after living in San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston. I ordered a philadelphia roll which is now my second favorite sushi combination(salmon, avocado, and cream cheese) and then for the first time had tempura fried sushi. They make the sushi with some posh ingredients, and then tempura fry the whole roll! It was heaven!!! You don’t need any soy sauce or wasabi it’s so flavorful! Now the best part of my visit was that it was happy hour. I’m pretty sure it’s Tuesdays-Fridays from 5−7pm, all sushi is half off, there are drink specials, and half off certain appetizers. This happy hour made it SO affordable. After ordering 5 rolls between my boyfriend and myself and two drinks, the whole meal was only about $ 30 after tip!!! I call that affordable, hip, and yummy food! The other good thing about this place is that everyone dining in the restaurant is so diverse. There were all sorts of shapes, sizes, and colors in the restaurant. I like seeing this in Over-the-Rhine more than anywhere else.
