I’m a big-time case me lover. I have been there multiple times and every time it is excellent.

A bit surprised that the average reviews aren’t better. I was very pleased with my overall experience. I came by on a recommendation from one of my customers. It was around 12:30 pm and there were not very many people inside. The whole menu sounded amazing, making my decision difficult. I ended up on the Wurst Cuban and added some truffle fries. It was really good! Very different from anything I’ve probably ever had. Almost as good as the food was the atmosphere. Very cool vibe. They have a nice bar with an awesome beer/drink cooler as the centerpiece(and a pretty good story). There is also a nice, secluded patio in the back that I probably would have missed had the bartender not told me about it. I will hopefully be back at some point to try the burger and some other menu options!

Gut und billig! Real proletarian grub in a bougie neighborhood. They are serious about the wurst and everything else that comes out of the kitchen. Cooked on the spot. Attentive staff: not over friendly.

Soggy fries… they used to be great but wow the quality has changed the last 3 times I’ve been here. I recommend the guys serving them to try them. Just not Good. :( Great service and bartender does awesome job. Fun place

Love wurstbar it’s food is stellar, the drinks are strong(try the draper). Everything from the kitchen is hot. I’ve gotten something different maybe 10 times and always enjoyed it. Flying pigs in a blanket is great to share.

The mushroom appetizers were very good. The entrée was just ok. It took awhile to get our food. The waitress had no personality or friendliness. Not worth gong back.

Horrrible service from the minute we walked in to the very end. Menus are torn and gross, beer list is listed by brewery not by the beer. The 2 employees didn’t know much about the menu, or cared to acknowledge us if we weren’t sitting at the bar. Our food came out wrong and we didn’t have the chance to tell them until we almost finished. We were the only ones there besides 3 guys at the bar. Was a very interesting experience. I would recommend getting staff that are more knowledgeable and aware. Our beer bottle was expired, the one the waitress recommended they were out of. Fries are over greasy with no flavor and the sausage bun was stale. Thx

We’ve been here a bunch of times. I feel like the food used to be better though. The wurst I got last night was good, but the bun and the toppings were cold, which made the whole thing kinda lukewarm. We also had the chorizo tacos, which were tasty. Get the macaroni and cheese, it’s super creamy and served in an iron skillet. Not many beers on tap, but lots of options in bottles /cans. You’ll be thirsty as the fries and wursts are salty. Good spot in the square for a bite, nice outdoor patios in front and behind the building.

Before I get started, menu wise, this place has a lot of hope – all the options were sounding awesome and I’ve eaten here before and remember the food was good. However, I unfortunately have to say that Wurst bar in the square – based off the service I received today – truly was the wurst. We arrived at 11:45 am on a Saturday to a pretty empty restaurant and a bar filled with younger guys(apparently our server’s friends?). My point– it wasn’t super busy. Our waiter greeted us and we place Bloody Mary orders… He asked us regular or spicy. Spicy, obviously! Unfortunately, it took at least 10 minutes before we were told they had to make more bloody mix. Once we finally received the drinks, I can say they were well worth the wait – delicious and spicy! Perfect. After what felt like ages of not being acknowledged by our server, we finally placed our order. We wanted an app(which the waiter never brought and completely forgot about – we were so hungry this def wasn’t a high point for us). We also ordered the main meal too m. I got the Walt’s dog– it had«hot slaw,» pulled pork, Bbq sauce all on a pork sausage. Before ordering I specifically asked what hot slaw was because I feared it would be like w sauerkraut, which I hate. He said no don’t worry it’s just spicy coleslaw. I was sold. When I got my food I noticed it wasn’t normal coleslaw, it was more sauerkraut like and totally everything I didn’t want it to be. I wish the server was more knowledgeable on the menu. That is a problem for me. I would have said something but our server was so MIA at the bar with his friends that I never really had an opportunity to do that. Our waiter never acknowledged he forgot our app and it wasn’t on the bill so maybe I’ll give the benefit of the doubt on that. I will say the fries were nice and crispy m but needed salt. However, in a restaurant as empty as this one was, why did I wait what felt like centuries for my food? From all the amazing things I’ve heard about the Wurst Bar in the Square, I thought the service would be on point with the food and it just wasn’t.

My Fiancé and I went there last night after reading about it on Unilocal. It’s fairly close to our house and we figured we would try something new! It was easy to find, but parking as usual in Mt. Lookout was awful. The staff was super attentive and friendly. We started with a round of moscow mules– the taste of them were amazing. HOWEVER, there was so much more ice than drink in the small mule glass. Our appetizer was the beer cheese and pigs in a blanket– DELICIOUS. We will go back just for these. For our entrees we both had the Cuban– it was ok at best. We ordered the garlic fries– but I think they forgot the garlic. All in all it was okay– we would come back for appetizers if we needed to. If we are going to spend that much money on hot dogs– we will continue to go to senate!

The worst Bloody Mary I’ve ever had. The food is ok, I’ve had a couple good things and a couple bad. The best thing about this place is that they do free shuttles to reds and bengals games. If it wasn’t for that we probably would never come again.

I’ve been to wurst bar a handful of times and I’m sure I will go back. I wish I could rate service, food, & atmosphere separately, but unfortunately, Unilocal doesn’t allow me to. But if I could… Atmosphere is a 5 for sure. I love the location of it, save for parking– but that’s just Mt. Lookout. It’s really great inside. The woods kind of go with the whole sausage & bar theme… I wonder if they did that on purpose? ;) My favorite place to sit is the patio, which is where we sat Friday night. They have it open year round and since it has been chilly, they had it closed off from the outside weather and it was comfortable cozy. There are TVs and live music out there(sometimes). You have to walk back towards the kitchen to get there, so some people may not realize the patio is there. You can get there from the back alley so you’re able to bring your(well behaved) dogs, which I always appreciate :) who doesn’t love puppies? Food is a 3 ½. It’s not spectacular, but it’s decent. The sausages seem homemade, I’m pretty sure they are, which I respect quite a bit. They have some interesting choices and pretty much anyone can find something they like. They have one option which is a goetta wurst topped with maple bacon gravy and a poached egg. My best friend has threatened to make babies with it. Awkward. They also have a list of their bun choices, toppings, wursts, and any available extras for anyone who doesn’t like the combinations they’ve offered. They even have two vegetarian wursts… They may be vegan. They always sound really good, but I have yet to try them. Something I really appreciate is the option of different buns and fries. It may seem lame, but I like options! They have sea salt, cracked pepper, garlic, & spicy fries. You can also up charge for some truffle fries. I’ve had the sea salt, pepper, and spicy fries on my different visits. The pepper is meh. Probably because I’m more of a salt person. The salt ones are good and if you get the spicy fries, watch out if you get some that have been heavy handed with the spice. Wow! They’re not kidding. Still good though. Their alcohol is pretty good, too. They make a drink called the Bermuda Rum Swizzle that’s really great. They even have the recipe painted on the wall! It comes with a little refill & it’s pretty strong. Definitely one to try. I’m not a beer drinker, but my friends are and they liked the selection. The service, at least during this visit, was a 3. Our server was ok, the girl who was helping her out was better. I’m not sure if maybe they got busy at a weird time and weren’t prepared or maybe she also had tables inside, which would be difficult to juggle. There were a couple of larger parties outside, so I get it if she was a little flustered. The service every other time I’ve been has been ok. So overall, like a 3.8ish. Which isn’t really an option on here. Womp. Maybe I’ll up my rating & review during my next visit.

This is one of my major go-to’s for lunch in the Area. It offers a lot of neat things that get overlooked. 1. A nice back patio with a fire pit for those autumn nights, or crisp spring days. 2. Solid beer and cocktail selection in an area better known for cheap boozin or nicer brunching. 3. A ton of solid items that are good over and over. The poutine, most sausages, and appetizer… I haven’t been disappointed by any of the items. The wurst. .is one of the best.

Just had dinner here. Would have given 5 stars but our food came out almost cold, due to the fact that our waitress was getting her butt kicked. I’ll dust it off since it happens to everyone. We’ve eaten here plenty of times and always love coming back. Great food and delicious local beers. The décor and atmosphere is cozy and unique, during peak times can feel a tad snug. For some reason there were small kids everywhere tonight… in what’s essentially a bar. I wouldn’t recommend this for bringing the littles since all seating is high top seating save for one picnic style table.

I’ve been here a couple times for beer, but decided to come here for food after finding out both of the neighboring sushi joints don’t open til 5(because people in Cinci don’t care for half priced food for lunch, apparently). Anyways, the ambiance of this bar is always really cool. All of the décor ties together really well, and fits the«feel» of the restaurant. All of the food is very reasonably priced, and drinks are standard pricing for the neighborhood. On this trip, I started with the pork tacos. They were excellent. Surprisingly spicy, but not overwhelming. However, I did think there was slightly too much tortilla per taco filling. But it wasn’t egregious and I’m probably just being picky. I had the steak sandwich as my entrée, and it was plated beautifully. It wasn’t the besttttt tasting sandwich I’ve ever had, but it was still really good. The sea salt fries it came with were super tasty and the perfect level of crunch though. My friend started with the soup of the day, and had the truffle chicken salad as her entrée. I snuck a bite of both when she went to the bathroom and they were both so good. I was blown away by the truffle dressing on the salad. The service was slightly awkward while we there, but they looked like they were going through a shift change, and that’s to be expected. However, the bartender did keep us watered and we didn’t wait too long for anything to get bused. I’ll definitely come back if I’m ever in the city, and hope to try some of their specialty drinks as well next time.

Solid 3. Good but not great. The atmosphere is kind of awkward. Maybe I’m not much of a bar person and it was more bar than restaurant but it wasn’t very comfortable. Service was ok. We started with the mushrooms and the pigs in a blanket. Everything was tasty but nothing I will crave. The split the Rooney, The Cuban, and the Burger. All were the same as the apps. Good but nothing that will make me want to come back. If we were in the area and someone else suggested it, I would go again but wouldn’t initiate the trip.

I ate here twice over the weekend — once for lunch on Friday and then take out for dinner on Saturday. Lunch on Friday was fantastic! I ordered the chili and the goat cheese and beet salad. The chili was chunky, the meat was very high quality, and it had a nice heat level to it. Nothing like the crap people around here consider chili with meat molecules, cinnamon, and chocolate. Blech! This was real, southern style, rustic chili! The flavor was spot on! The salad was also a winner. Large chunks of beets, plenty of candied pecans, loads of very fresh micro-greens, fresh, crsip apple slices, and enough dressing to add to the flavor without swimming in it. The only thing I will say, is that I would have like more goat cheese in it, but it was still excellent. Dinner on Saturday, as I said above, was takeout. After dining here for lunch with a friend, I HAD to get my husband to eat here too. We ordered the hans gruber and the cuban 54, both with garlic fries. While the fries were not crispy by the time we got them home, I can’t hold that against them. We DID order take-out after all and that is to be expected. The flavor was still really good. The sausages were both full of flavor, juicy, the right amount of spicy, and messy as can be! We were both very impressed by the quality of the sausages, as well as the creativity of the toppings. This one will become a regular for us!

I’ve had decent meals here before, but tonite was a disappointment. I had a «make your own» wurst and it came out piled high with Kraut and relish. This was to hide the fact that the link was half the size of the bun. My first bite was all bread and toppings. The last as well. You’d think a place with Wurst in their name would focus on the meat. I think they spent so much on the nicely appointed interior that they cheat on the food to pay it off. :-) As a bar it’s decent but tonite they were out of a key ingredient of a signature drink. The first specialty drink on the menu… Out of Cucumber Vodka. Sigh. Maybe it’s an off night, or maybe they are forgetting quality and focusing on turning out average products so they can make good profit instead. I’d have to return later to find out. But that will not be soon.

Finally made it to the Wurst Bar on a recent Saturday afternoon and it holds up to the hype! Food is always the most important factor for any restaurant, and the sausages, fries, and amazing appetizer(pigs in a blanket with pretzels!!!) we tried were all top notch. But what really impressed me about this neighborhood gem was the quality of the interior and exterior space. I love outdoor drinking and dining areas, especially since we have to make the most of our nice weather here in the volatile Midwest. The Wurst Bar has TWO outdoor dining areas, the front sidewalk and enclosed courtyard out back. We visited on one of the last warm afternoons of fall and sat in the courtyard but noticed that it’s equipped with both heat lamps and a fire pit to extend the al fresco dining season. The wood in the fire was still smoldering from the night before and it smelled wonderful. The interior was warm, cozy and clean. No sticky floors or bad loud music! Service was good, although our waitress did one thing that drives me crazy. She didn’t write down our order and then got something wrong — note to servers everywhere: please just write it down unless you have a superhuman memory! The beer selection is decent and the cocktail menu looked tempting although we didn’t order from it. Nice little touches round out the quality — they accommodate dogs in the court yard with a water bowl and were happy to change tv channels for customers looking for a specific football game. I can’t wait to go back!

We headed here for a date night excited by some of the reviews we had read. I ordered a Gretel’s Bitter to drink and found it watered down and incredibly sweet. We also ordered the beer cheese with pretzels and pigs in a blanket. THESEWEREAMAZING. Order this. Some of the best beer cheese I’ve had. We sat on the back patio which was quiet and a had really great atmosphere. I ordered the chorizo tacos which had a great shell but almost tasted like it was covered in BBQ sauce. It was strange and not something I enjoyed. He ordered the Wurst Burger which was really good but REALLY salty. I usually love intense flavors but most of what we had was all over the map. I would return for the beer cheese alone and maybe have a beer. But I would skip the rest of the food and not have another cocktail.
